- Another boat trip to Fort Myers beach in SW Florida with our Regal XO! We travel from the miserable mile in Cape Coral to drop anchor right on the beach with some friends in front of the new Margaritaville Beach Resort and Lani Kai hotel. We also check out a new boat that is also called an XO Explorer made in Scandinavia with an aluminum hull! Thanks for the tour and good luck with it captain Rob!
The water is cold by Florida standards and I step on a rusty nail! Fun times!
Thank you for sharing!
The miserable mile looks like a naval flotilla. So nice thanks for sharing
Looks like a great time. Please get water shoes.
Oh that blue sky the tortoise water the beautiful white sand the warm wind I love watching you two adventures!! Keep the good times coming cant wait to get back!
I think you stepped on a pop top,
'Had to cruise on back home,,,,
Looks like you guys are really enjoying the Regal. Perfect for those day trips to get close to shore with some speed and comfort. Two great boats now with a lot of flexibility.
Another lovely day!🥰
Copilot looks pretty happy!!! Well done!!
Another great video! I’ve been working on ripping the pontoon apart all the way down to, well, the pontoons! Can’t wait to get her out on the water before too long. I like when we anchor near the beach as well. A different perspective on the beach! Good job!
I miss the pontoon!
Cut my heal and had to cruse on back home.. Haha Sorta!
Your gonna begin to enjoy the summers down there a lot.Crowds thin out and the waters never cold
Water is like a bathtub in the summer. We love it!
As another viewer said, now i am looking at little cabin cruisers. I used to own a Wellcraft 34 GrandSport, now down to a center console but possibly looking into a weekender.
love the options that we can just crash overnight whenever we want!
Ooohfa! When are we gonna see this girl cook a home meal for you?! Restaurants here, restaurants there, restaurants everywhere!!!
lol. She made a great dish of chicken cacciatore last night!
Im sure a link to 'Happy Hours Cookbook' is coming soon with 5 Pct discount code on pots and pans bought thru the Happy Hours store!

Good idea! Lol. I’ll get the Admiral right on it!
Boy wait till you guys see an alligator swimming in the bay for the first time, that'll make you move to Bakersfield 👌
I’m hoping that never happens down this way!
Omg, I'm first comment. Yippie.
Oops forgot how to spell turquoise lol grammatically speaking messing up ya all know what I mean LOL.
You are making me look at the Regal now! Awesome! Are yuo gonna put a Seakeeper on it?
Nah. It’s not the size of the ship it’s the motion in the ocean. 😂
Someone down the canal from me had an Axopar. I think the windshield was broken in the hurricane, and after that the boat disappeared. It was neat to see, although probably not an ideal boat for the area - more for colder climates.
Agreed. It even had a diesel heater aboard!
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs a colleague of mine has one, but he lives in Helsinki!
XO BOATS are from Finland! @@r7boatguy
I thought he said Scandinavia. It’s all Eastern Europe to me. Lol
Hope you're up to date on your tetanus! I stepped on something a few weeks ago when beached at Lover's Key. While most debris has been cleaned up, there is always something to step on out there...
Can’t remember my last tentanus shot but all worked out fine.
great video how long of a boat ride from the cape ft myers beach
from our house to ft Myers just over an hour. most of it no wake zone.
Are you behind the Chiquita lock by chance? I’m looking to buy a 26 XO this year and am wondering if it’ll be able to cut across the bay from Rumrunners to the channel in the river (the short cut instead of taking the longer shore route). I can take my jetboat across easily as it has a 19” draft and it saves time getting out to the islands. Any insight is appreciated. Enjoying the videos!
We don’t have to go through Chaquita lock but we do come out the SW channel by Tarpon Point. I try to avoid the short cut along the mangroves at really low tides but we go straight out most the time to the Island along the miserable mile there with no problem. I trim the drive up when depth shows under 3.5 feet to be safe.
Good to know. Thanks for the info. Be safe out there!
You find you use the smaller one more now ?
Yes we have been using the Regal to go out more often. Mostly day trips. The longer jaunts will still be the Meridian. We have a couple outings for Happy Ours this week for Christmas boat parades.
What is the up date on the after hours since the storm down there
Have both boats buttoned up good with extra lines. Been really windy for days now so not much more other than rain tonight.
Do you have radar on the Regal!
Nope.
I’ve been an early subscriber and liked your channel a lot. Since you cut my comment about the underwater hazards associated with Ian and how lucky you were…
I didn’t cut it. I responded to it!
I remember the post and responded in length. not sure why I can’t find the post.
Thanks for the clarification. My only concern was for people down here is to be careful in and around the water. There have been too many tragic event’s from minor incidents like your’s since that damn hurricane. Still love your channel! From a fellow Aussie owner… Maty rocks!
Yes I’ve heard of debris issues but of all the times I’ve been there after the storm (6or so times)none of us ever stepped on anything. I thought it was a crab first as it would get off my foot when kicking it. I didn’t realize it was a nail puncture until I got in the boat. I wish I had picked it up. We anchor in that exact spot every time !
Is the miserable mile a manatee zone?
Yes. That’s part of the reason for the slow speed. The other being the narrow channels and massive number of boats. Would be chaos with no speed limit.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Actually, no offense, but that's not the "miserable mile". The Manatee Zone is the "Shell Island Cut" The Miserable Mile is a full speed zone starting at marker 101 and heading southwest past picnic island. It is technically the beginning of the Intercoastal and was named the Miserable Mile by sailors because it is a narrow dredged channel that has strong cross currents making it very difficult on sailboats with large keels. Care and attention is required during the transit because a sailboat can easily drift out of the channel and run aground. Most power boaters refer to the Shell Island Cut as the Miserable Mile because of the no wake zone, but that's not the real MM.
@richardjohnson8114 yes I learned that not too long ago. Nearly everyone here calls the slow zone the miserable mile. Apparently, some old charts do indicate the narrow portion you mention as the miserable mile.
What was the water temp?
I’m guessing about 70.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs yea, thats getting a bit chilly
Your video are too short you need to do at least 30min videos some fishing and exploring
I’ve found 10 minutes is about the average view length for our videos. 30 minutes is just too long to keep most viewers attention.
Good your little boo boo didn’t turn serious. More than a few people down here weren’t so lucky. Ian isn’t done with us yet.
That’s the first time I found anything sharp at that beach. We’ve been there numerous times since the storm.
