  • Another boating weekend taking our 341 Meridian up the Caloosahatchee River to Downtown Fort Myers to see the waterfront for the first time since we passed it before Hurricane Ian. There are still plenty of sunk boats and destroyed marinas. But many icons are still open like the Luminary Hotel with rooftop bar, the waterfront Oxbow Restaurant and plans for a new resort island to be constructed at Lofton Island next to the mooring field. After exploring Fort a Myers, it’s across the river to Marinatown in North Fort Myers to explore their yacht basin and scope out restaurants for some dock and dine.
    This is part 1 of our 2 part series for Marinatown. Our next episode will detail us exploring Marinatowns bays,lagoons and hidden anchorages with derelict boats. Don’t forget to like and subscribe so you won’t miss it!

    My wife and I enjoy watching your channel. She thinks you should offer up a boat ride to one of your channel subscribers. Sounds like a great idea. Oh, and BTW, we will be visiting Florida in November. 😂

      we are looking forward to a night at downtown Fort Myers for that night life. I’m sure it hasn’t changed, only the waterfront marinas were damaged.

    The slip is big enough in front of Blackbeard Tavern. Just voted the number #1 new restaurant in NFM. Great food and drinks with a very friendly staff.

      So glad you posted! I had no idea the left side was Blackbeard’s. Didn’t see a sign. Sorry I didn’t mention it. We will definitely be back to visit and mention your place. Is that long dock for Blackbeards? That will fit Happy Ours! We can come with a large crew bar hopping!

      the large dock behind me belongs to the marina, until I hear otherwise from the dock master it is open for our business. The dock is large enough for a 30+ foot yacht.

    Happy bday Matey! I would agree with the idea that there is a 160 degree thermostat on the port. Would also agree it should have a 170. But I am basing that on working at a marina in western NY.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  Рік тому

      I’m guessing they both should be 160. Engine having trouble with heat I. Warm florida waters.

    I was told as a rule of thumb, your engine temp will/should be the temp of the water you're in plus 100.... so as the water temp goes up in the summer time, so will the engine temp while fall/winter temp will keep your engine temp down..... stay safe, Tim and Cat

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  Рік тому +2

      thanks for this tip. I’m starting to think that I need a 160 thermostat in the motors as the ambient water temp is so high. I think the port motor is a 160 degree and that’s why it runs cooler. I’m looking to change the sb motor thermostat to a 160 too.

    I was thinking about what agency monitors, manages, and maybe provides maintenance of those waterways. from the various marker placement, vessel assistance, maybe debris maintenance Etc. That wouldn't be the Coast Guard that'd be overage, you know too much, I would think

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  Рік тому

      Coast Guard maintains markers. Army corp of engineers maintain channel depths. Small city channels are maintained by local government in most cases.

      @@AdventuresofHappyOurs Oh wow .. what a collective effort. yeah all the videos I've seen of the various channels there, cause I subscribed to a couple other UA-camrs from that area in their videos the channels look nice, well-maintained, and clean as far as debris goes and okay thanks appreciate the info. Ya I'm making plans to be out there on the " Venice of America " side in early December for Dolphins game. Might have to cruise a couple channels 🤔

      I apologize for the delayed response, I've been up in the Sierra Nevadas for a couple few days and at the 8,000 ft level you're definitely disconnected. Virginia Lakes, California to be exact camping, kayaking, inflatable type tube boating. okay well I will keep this in mind. that's ideal instead of going on a cattle tour boat. Thank you

    Why still boats to be rescued? Waiting for insurance or salvage? Or maybe just abandoned?
