- Scarlett Johansson has been offered the lead role of the new Jurassic Park movie allegedly. This is cool news because she’s been in some great science fiction roles that are actually dark and serious. So imagining her on Site B or Nublar with dinosaurs like the Tyrannosaurus or even a Spino could be fun as long as it isn’t insane with modern Hollywood silliness. This new movie may actually be great.

I honestly would prefer her to be in a potential Dino Crisis film than a Jurassic Park film. I think she would fit that style of the series better.

He's still working. If you read his autobiography he seems pretty reckless. I think he'll be continuing to make movies until he drops dead. But I think it's a bad idea. Personally, I think he should retire simply because he deserves it. He could work on his vineyard full time

This is a terrible idea. Scarlett is a good actress, but the issue is that she is distractingly well known. If she got a lead role, fans wouldn't be able to take the film seriously. She won't be in any real danger, she's going to survive impossible odds completely unscathed, and she isn't going to be relatable because we'll see her as just Scarlett and not her character.
One issue I had with Dominion is that Jeff Goldblum wasn't playing Ian Malcolm, he was essentially playing himself. He felt out of place in a franchise he helped build up because he wasn't like his character in previous films. Sam Neill and Laura Dern in the og JP were fantastic choices, because although they were known actors, they weren't huge superstars and they felt like unique people as their characters, which made us care about them and feel the tension when they were in danger.
If you asked me, I'd cast actors that dont have a lot of big names under their belt just yet. I'm sick of seeing the same few stars suck up every 👏 damn 👏 role 👏 (I'm looking at you Chris Pratt) when there are many talented unknown actors that never get a chance to shine. These new JP films need to capitalize off that and make some characters that the audience can truly emphasize with.

I too agree with Jeff Golblum playing himself and not the traumatized seriousness of his character in the Lost World. I honestly think that that was just them trying to copy Jurassic Park in order to make the cash flow. But yeah everything about this comment is perfect.
Now I do agree with the Jeff Goldblum not playing the character that he usually is in Dominican because that was one of my problems as well but I highly disagree with Scarlett Johnson being a terrible casting choice and I'm 50/50 on the whole getting completely new actors to play these roles.
1. As you said, Scarlett is a great actress and has played other roles before. As long as the script doesn't literally say "just be yourself", she has the potential to play an interesting lead if given the right screenplay. Her being "distractingly well-known" is a ridiculous take if I'm going to be brutally honest... having actor that everybody knows be in your film isn't always a negative thing and can actually be more beneficial (I'll explain more later). Sure does have its cons (I'll try my best to explain more on that as well) but whether you like it or not, that's what brings in more people to see the movie so it can be successful. Scarlett Johansson in Jurassic Park is completely new to people so that's going to get intrigue all on its own. Also... how do you know she won't be in any real danger in this movie? Just because she's a famous actor? That's also a ridiculous take. WE DON'T KNOW if she's going to be in mortal peril the whole film or not it's not even a trailer has been out yet. Considering the same guy who helped write the Lost World it's coming back to do this film, I think the danger for our protagonists will definitely come back in full force just like the original trilogy but even I am cautiously optimistic about that. Just give it a shot.
2. There's pros and cons to getting fresh actors that have never been in a movie before until now. Pros: you give those talented unknown actors a chance to shine and new fans who likes said actor, which will hopefully lead to them having just as successful careers as the big shots. Cons: hate to break it to you but I doubt just having a completed new actor that nobody knows about or barely does to be the face of this new film is going to bring in people to the theater. Unless the new actor is REALLY damn talented with the role they're given in the same way that Sam and Laura were back in 1993, the audience isn't going to be interested. The likelihood of that happening again is slim to none as well. It's an absolute gamble to just bring in new people, especially those that haven't been in a big film before.
This is just my thoughts though. Do you have some cautious optimism about this movie and you have every right to have criticism about it (despite the fact is not even out yet but I digress) but let's just see how this turns out, okay?

such a great point and I fearfully agree. it was one of the worst aspects of the Black Widow movie and easily imo the worst thing about Dominion. Even if we know the character is going to survive, I want a Bruce Willis/Die Hard situation. Or, you know, Ellie in JW1

I've always had this idea that Robert Muldoon had a Son or a Daughter and after he died that child grows up and becomes a Raptor killer and won't stop intell all Velociraptors are extinct so if Scarlett Johnson gets the part I could totally see them doing something like that oh please Universal please do that.

Well, if you ask me about Sam Neill it's obvious that Dominion reception is the reason for why he doesn't want to get back at least at this time, I hope Spielberg to do something about him.
One thing I'm hoping for is better sound fx. I've always loved how the Trex draws in breath before roaring in the first film (possibly the 2nd too?) But they seemed to scrap that detail in the newer films. The roar itself was so much louder too.
That, and less cgi. More story. More dialogue. More better things.

I'm actually interested in this casting choice!! Scarlett Johansson is a very talented actress and is already accustomed to the Sci-Fi genre. I'm kind of expecting a Regina from Dino Crisis type character with her.

In my opinion Scarlett is a better Actor than Chris Pratt so if she wants the job I say let her go at it.
Honestly, I don't know how to feel about it. I'm leaning more towards the negative side of things just slightly only because she already is a massive movie star. And based of her acting in other stuff like Avengers, I can't really picture her in a Jurasic film, it just doesn't sit right with me. But saying that, I could be seriously wrong and she may be fantatsic in this movie. If she accepts the role that is.
I would have preferred if we kind of had a Daniel Craig James Bond scenario, were no one knew who the actor or actress was and wasn't aware of there talent and then get blown away by their performance in an extremely successful film.
As for Grant, I never expected Sam Neil to return post Dominion wether it be a sequel or a prequel. I think that his character has been spent at this point and there would be no real purpose in bringing him back, similar to what happened with Dominion. I honestly thought that when you said 'Bad news' I was expecting something to do with Sam Neil's cancer diagnosis.
I highly recommend checking out Under the Skin. If you're only familiar with Scarlett Johansson as a comic book character then give this little horror movie a watch.
Don't really care whos cast. Just as long as the script is good.
And Scarlett is an incredible actor. She does have a tendency to pick bad projects at times. But I'd say they aren't bad because of her. Usually she's the redeeming thing in the bad thing.

They should be using unknown/little known actors for the next chapter. We don’t need A lister names in the movie to want to see it. In fact I think big names will only lead to a subpar product as the last trilogy showcased pretty clearly
The movie is far from release and ya’ll already complaining💀Dude give it a chance already. We can’t have a cast of lesser known actors/actresses. We can mix them up, so maybe some side protagonists are lesser known, and perhaps any sort of antagonist may be a mix of the people we know and the people we don’t. Even dinosaur enthusiasts complain similar things. They want lesser known dinosaurs to be featured whilst a majority want the well known dinosaurs featured in ALONGSIDE obscure specimens. We all want a mix of familiarity and unfamiliarity in both cast and dinosaur/prehistoric creature. We can’t just have new faces all the way.

I'm fine without any returning characters and actors. If they were there, they'd probably just be there for "memberberry" purposes, like in Fallen Kingdom and Dominion.

I have no problem if the next Jurassic park film is more like Dino Crisis.

Jurassic World Dominion was a MASSIVE! Missed opportunity. I think most people including myself, wanted to see a more off the grid Jurassic. The Locust bullshit plot really throw me! Not mention the wasted opportunity with the Giga.
I will say JW1 was good. Not the best, but better than 2-3. I just hope that it’s not gonna be a preachy movie. So I look forward to this new chapter, but I’ll hold my excitement until we get more details. The one thing I’d wish they’d do. Is make a Dino Crisis movie or tv show! That game series (except 3) was awesome!🤩

I'm going a bit off topic here but bear with me. Reading through the comments, a lot of people keep talking about a new Jurassic trilogy, or the start of a new saga, implying there will be more movies after this one. Now, I'm all for more Jurassic movies (as long as they're good), but what is the obsession with a trilogy? I don't see the point in trying to drag out some convoluted story just so it fits into three movies. I'd much rather any new Jurassic films take an anthology approach, where each new movie is a stand-alone story. This would allow more creative flexibility in story telling and casting choices. For example, there could be a movie based on a fishing boat at sea that is being pursued by the Mosasaur (think Jaws but with the Mosasaur instead). Another movie could be like an extended version of Battle at Big Rock where a family camping in the woods are hunted by raptors or the T-Rex. Maybe Dilophosaurs hunting people in the Costa Rican rain forests. An anthology would even allow for different time periods so we could get a movie based on hurricane Clarissa wiping out the facility on Isla Sorna, or the recovery operation set days after the events of Jurassic Park in 1993. I think taking an anthology approach could bring some new ideas to the franchise without tying it down to one particular story or event being stretched out over multiple movies. I also think stand-alone movies would lend themselves better to the isolation/survival horror elements that made the first Jurassic Park movie so great.
If she is going to be in the movie, I don't think I would have any interest in it. I am all for a female lead, but I rather it be somebody that doesn't want half the movies budget for pay, and is a good actor. Most of her acting is very flat. I rather them find somebody that is unknown, or at least not well known. And somebody that can be a bad ass like Sigourney Weaver was. Scarlett Johansson isn't that.
I can see scarlet being amazing in a Jurassic park film. I just hope they actually make it like the old ones being more grounded. Not the recent comedic ones. I miss dinosaurs being terrifying. Just want a new good movie and definitely more dinosaur focused.

Honestly, her MCU role wasn’t that great. Black Widow is a spy/assassin, but since Winter Soldier they haven’t had her do any spy work. I was really disappointed the Black Widow movie wasn’t an MCU-Bond film.
Her acting wasn’t the issue, the MCU just misused her character.

I'm ok with this Scarlett is a great actress even in her movies that weren't so good she always does a great job, I'd love to see what she would bring to the franchise.

What if the movie takes place almost completely around a research facility (mostly inside) that is being run by someone from the Lockwood dino auction that is using dna they managed to collect that night. The research and security teams would be small to prevent information leaks. Insert a reason for the new dinosaur to escape and start its rampage or you could go the tmnt route and have a mutagenic chemical release into the environment and affect an animal although I’d prefer not to see any human hybrids.

If the rumors are true and this is a prequel, then it woupd make total sense not to include sam neill. He didnt have anything to do with setting up the habitats or island or even as a direct consultant. Initially, I was a bit concerned with this announcement, because Johansson's name thrown into the mix, would seem to suggest that Universal is going for yet another round of "action spectacular" with this one - but when I heard her role being compared to Ellen Ripley in Aliens, now THAT peaked my interest!
If that turns out to be the case, and the tone and suspense in the movie is like those films, then I'd be on board! Hopefully we'd get kind of a Dino Crisis thing going on.
Unfortunately i think theyll still try to tone doen the suspense and horror to get a more family-friendly movie (=$).
I believe that if we're ever going to see an adult-oriented Jurassic story again, it would probably be in a live-action tv-series or more short films - but I really hope to be proven wrong.

It kind of makes sense to hear Sam say he doesn't think he'll be in another movie any time soon. This movie is supposed to be a new era with a fresh new start on characters and story. Much like how the first Jurassic World was portrayed. It was a new story with a new set of characters. And if this movie is supposed to be "a new era" then it'll most likely be a continuation set sometime after the events of Dominion which is what I'm hoping they'll do. If this all happens to be true, then we can expect all of the legacy characters and the Jurassic World characters to not appear in this new movie but might have the potential to bring some of them back as a cameo or a larger roll in another film, assuming this new film is the start of another trilogy. Either way, I'm always down to see Alan Grant back.

I have seen a few of her less known movies and I feel she is a very good actress, just needs the right script and director so I'm holding out hope. Also I see a lot of posts about people wanting a prequel and while that sounds like it would be great lore, not sure how they would tie in action, I might have missed something but as far as I know, the worker who died in the intro to the first movie was their first casualty/altercation, so what "action" would there be? unless the prequel takes place between two of the movies. I would still love to see a lore story about the Spino or the carnivore attack hinted at in Battle at Big rock, though I suspect that might be what the new camp cretaceous spin off might be about. Which leads me to a similar thought, what if this is a modern sequel or slightly in the future and Scarlet plays an adult Brook? Or the mother of one of the Camper's and is trying to find them in california? could be a fun tie in. Also I would be happy if they go "oops turns out we were wrong and dinos are not coexisting and the world became Cadillacs and Dinosaurs"

Its not a prequel. Filming is set to happen in Malta this June which suggests it's a follow up to Dominion in some aspect, even if it's a new cast. Imo with the return to Malta and ScarJo possibly playing a red head they could potentially be bringing back Kayla Watts.

I think Scarlett could be a good addition to the Jurassic franchise as long as her character and other characters and the story for the movie are written right without the message in it, and like you said maybe someday we might see Sam Niel and Chris Pratt and other’s return one day, but i do want to say Scarlett played her role as black widow very seriously in the Mcu back then, the problem with Mcu right now is that phase 4 and 5 are just all over the place with spreading the message instead of focusing on good storytelling and writing good characters, hopefully since it’s not doing great they will fix that for the Mcu and other franchises

Getting Dino Crisis vibes about this movie. Day by day, with every bit of news coming out about this film, I do feel like a Dino Crisis inspired story. With Skarlett Johanson, assuming that she does take up this role, it'll be that much more certain than ever before
I'd really like to see Lex and Tim come back, at least for a small role in something. But only if they can get the original actors to sign on.

I do like the trespasser moniker & yeah, it would be a cool movie, but I think this is more of a Dino Crisis type of story, & Skarlett Johanson, I mean, I think she's more of a Regina character, if you ask me
