A fun looking deck and it inspired to try some tricks. I went a different route to use Desecrated Tomb. Instead of putting the creatures into play or exile... you can trigger it with returning cards to your hand or by shuffling them into your library. Enter The Mending of Dominaria and Gaea's Blessing. With explore to fill up the graveyard, you can dump and shuffle a lot. In short, the idea is to use Mending and Gaea's Blessing to shuffle a stack of creatures away with Tomb in play. Add in a bunch of explore cards for both drawing lands and filling the grave, as well as stitcher's supplier and you can easily hit multiple 4-5 creature reshuffles. Add in Blue and you'll enable Narcomeoba, Muldrotha (who makes getting back tombs easy), and all the Surveil cards that Dimir will have. Also WIldgrowth Walker can get insanely huge while stalling with a lifewall, and Path of DIscovery with a Descrated Tomb out can get nutty.. bats find blessings, which shuffle to make bats. Toss in Tomb Robber to filter past lands and the deck can do some fun and nutty tricks.
Nice thing about Squee is that, once you have the Tomb out, he actually is good in multiples, as resolving one sends one to the graveyard, ready to be cast from there. No need for a sac outlet!
Honestly, I no loner play MTG really at all anymore, but seeing your deck techs and your passion is what keeps me coming back to your videos. Hell, if I ever do pick it up again, I'll have a bevy of ideas to work with :) You rock Dev. BTW grats on hitting 97k subs! so close to that 100k, you deserve it
Just became a patron. I've been watching a long time and used a few builds you've given us to ace people with no idea how to deal with the havoc you create. Much love to you Dev. I'd love to chat and talk about the current meta we're seeing.
Love this deck concept. Dev I have to say even if I don't like the exact deck you are showing it always has a legit idea that I absolutely love. Thank you good sir!
Nice idea in Desecrated Tomb! With Ravnica Allegiance there's Gutterbones and the Revival part of Revival/Revenge to spice up this combo / deck. I'm thinking of Rakdos, using Judith too. So when a creature dies, Judith deals damage, and when they're returned to the battlefield, the Tomb produce bats. Could be slow, but it could be very annoying to face too.
This was a deck I thought about building but it is a more mid range build I would say instead of running rite of belzenlok run 4 copies of open the graves it gives more bodies for torgarr as well as a constant supply of 2/2 zombies
Dev, question about ixalans binding ruling with squee the immortal. It says he can be *Cast* from exile or the graveyard. Ixalans binding says your opponent cannot *Cast* cards with the same name as the card exiled. Wouldn't bindings wording end up making it so that squee is unable to be cast from exile? Thanks for the response!
@@ecoKady that's what I thought. Dont know if I heard him wrong when he had been talking about squee and binding becoming more popular after rotation, but I thought I heard him say that you could play squee even if hes exiled from things like ixalans binding
That is not actually true but it is not obvious why. When a player first declares their intention to cast a spell that spell is moved to the stack, in this case Squee leaves exile and enters the stack, the next step is when restrictions on casting that spell occur, this is when Ixalan's Binding makes its check, but because Squee has left exile and is currently on the stack Ixalan's Binding has nothing exiled and the casting of Squee will occur as normal. blogs.magicjudges.org/rules/cr601/
Note that when Squee first came out, you actually could play it from under Ixalan’s Binding because of some funny rules interactions (the short explanation is that it gets removed from exile as part of the casting, so it’s not technically under Ixalan’s Binding and can thus be played.) Then they changed the rules on us to stop that.
For anyone playing this deck now, resourceful return from the kld block is a great common that let's you return a creature and draw a card if you have desecrated tomb.
Naoki Kashima I mean it would work very well with the bats and recursive creatures. The problems I see with it are that you would need something very valuable that you would want to bring back with Whisper and she's also pretty slow. But man I wanna make her work somewhere.
Goblin motivator. Goblin multi tokens in red. Black 1 drop that puts 6 into grave. Then big stuff. Haste your sacrifice card, and inatantly snag value.
OK, you've got my shower thinking there; Would Pitiless plunderer with Vraska, Relic Seeker, journey to Eternity, Gaea's Blessing, Thrashing Brontodon and a single copy of Revel in Riches with all the sacrifice triggers be a good take on this deck ? Dropping the white of course. You're the best Dev !
I know this is supposed to be based on what we currently have in standard but why not drop red and go blue? We already know Narcomoeba is in the next set and costly plunder or chart a course could take easily the place of tormenting voice.
This looks fun as hell, I love that a skeleton is MVP haha! Have you guys thought about a couple Garna the Bloodflame? Nowhere near as good as Teshar but easier on the mana; and hasty bats could be nice
Demon of Catastrophes , sac the skellie and bring it back and you have a 6/6 flyer on turn 4. It works great I have been playing a deck that is not rotation proof with Bontu as well on arena and its been a lot of fun but the Demon works great.
what about Oathsworn Vampire??? but to make it work you will need to add in maybe diamond mare and or ajanis welcome and or fountain of renewal, will make deck more aggro resistant too. just a thought
Here's an idea i just had. Whisper Blood Liturgist with a card that creates a token with etb like Whirler Virtuoso. Then cast unatural stamina im not sure how this works but theres an idea Dev!
The name for my much worse version of this deck: Batman Returns. As asked earlier why not Costly Plunder over Tormenting Voice? Also is Demon of Catastrophes taboo?
Whisper blood liturgist with two doomed dissenters would let you create infinite creatures I believe. Kill both doomed dissenters, get two zombies, bring a dissenter back and get a bat. Sac dissenter and zombie, get a zombie and a bat, get dissenter back, get a bat, sac dissenter and zombie, get a bat. Infinite bats and an extra 2/2 zombie when it's all said and done.
This deck reminds me a lot of your Dagger Burn deck you made (other than this isn't really much burn- it's kinda janky, and I love it! I modified your Dagger Burn deck awhile back and I almost went unstoppable at my LGS with it- it was great! It's sad Panharmonicon is going to cycle out, it was such an awesome card! Anyway, I have a question- is splashing white actually worth it for Teshar?
Obviously cards to look out for in the upcoming set are *RED* spells, that say *JUMP START* … as we don't really have to mind if they end up in the graveyards, which ever way, as we can always cast them from the graveyard by discarding one of our engine pieces.
Hey Dev, I have got two ideas that I would your opinion on. The first thing is, would sacrifice outlets such as Ruthless Knave or Dark Dweller be worth it? The other idea I had was to possibly play a 1 or 2 of Pitiless Plunderer as you get a treasure everytime you sac Squee or Skeletons which can be use to recast those creatures, pay for Munitions or as Munitions fodder as it is an artifact. Please let me know what you think.
My friend and I put together a Muldrotha deck, and Tomb is just too durdly for what you get. Remember - Muldy only brings back 1 creature per turn from the 'yard. What we ended up on is actually a pretty cool take on Muldrotha; it uses Explore and Macabre Waltz to get stuff into the 'yard and filter the deck. Journey to Eternity and Rise from the Grave get stuff out of your 'yard and onto the field. The finisher is Pelakka Wurm; gaining 7 life and getting a 7/7 trample on board T5 is awesome. A secondary finisher is Wildgrowth Walker, getting a +1/+1 counter and gaining you 3 life every time something explore. Muldrotha is actually only there to let the deck "go long" by repeating these tricks over and over again. I doubt we'll ever see someone use something like this at a major event, but it will win you some FNMs if you sideboard well and tune for your meta.
I think Doomed Dissenter would be a better choice than Graveyard Marshal. The dissenter does have to die to get a 2/2 but his 2 mana cost allows you to get him back with Teshar.
I run mono black desecrated tomb on MTG arena, although I miss the amonkhet cards I had access too in closed beta. Primarily run around Liliana the Necromancer, Find/Finalty, and run Burglar Rat and Rat Colony (x12), with hard removal backing it up until I can get into an endless board cycle. (lots of recasting chubacabra's and blocking until I can 'go wide' or win with bone dragon exiling 1 creature + 6 spells/lands from the graveyard to avoid breaking my engine by exiling multiple creatures to one effect). The spell Macabre Waltz also helps a lot (1 C, 1 B) lets you search 2 cards (usually a rat colony and a revival card, or bone dragon/desecrated tomb depending on situation) 1 for graveyard and 1 for your hand, which can allow you to trigger tomb by force.
In my testing I constantly whiffed with Stitcher's Supplier and hit my lands instead, how do you combat that issue? What about Rekindling Phoenix or throwing in green and going jund?
Macabre Hatchery Sorcery Choose a creature card with converted mana cost 1 in your graveyard, then do the same for a creature card with converted mana cost 2 and 3. Return those cards to the battlefield.
I mean the deck operates from a combination of cards yes. But it doesn't shout combo to me. It's more of a value/engine deck. Like Meren in edh isn't a combo but she is an engine that pumps out extreme value.
I'm 1/10th the deck-builder that you are, Dev, but did you consider a creature with a repeatable sac ability? I'm not sure our options are very good (at least until we see more of the new set), but something like Ravenous Harpy (1 colorless to add counters to an evasive creature) or Brawl-Bash Ogre (free sacs for a modest effect)? Or does Makeshift Munitions just make that unnecessary?
Sacrificing something to Munitions instantly does damage. It doesn't matter how many counters you have on harpy if they can just kill it with a cheap removal spell. After rotation it might be better though. Something like Thallid Soothsayer might be a decent card draw engine too. You could really take this in a few different directions.
Coool nice deck Chainwhirler is quite a nuke for this deck unfortunately, otherwise also Elenda the dusk rose could have been useful But i bet that in guilds there will be a bunch of more useful cards especially with the golgari guild but also with dimir , remember that there's the gellyfish that always comes back to the battlefield once in the graveyard so i think this is easily becoming an esper or a sultai deck
List in general: scrap heap scrounge and trawler heart o k weldfast engineer, walking B, bromat c and g marshal, fetal p, unliscenced diss and phyrexian scrip
I would say dump the white and put in sarkhan in the the place of the angel. I do think the angel has great synergy with the deck but going a third color for just that card seems bad to me.

Dev I've been looking to get back into standard and you just provided the perfect deck to try out. Thanks man! :)
I've seen some tomb decks run rekindling Phoenix. I think it's a great addition
I've been working on a Darigaaz reanimator. Tormenting voice is one of my favorite cards to play.
Demon of Catastrophes seems the perfect match in this deck. Ive been running it in my B/G monsters list and its awesome.
yo dev, you´re awesome. still have your first munitions deck that i went 2-2 on my first fnm with
Thus deck list actually interests me into getting into standard, thanks Dev...
Whisper, Blood Liturgist didn't make the cut?
Connor Harrison Trading two creatures for two creatures? Seems...just not quite worth it.
Naoki Kashima I mean it would work very well with the bats and recursive creatures. The problems I see with it are that you would need something very valuable that you would want to bring back with Whisper and she's also pretty slow. But man I wanna make her work somewhere.
Eliji, the Freemage Maybe she will, maybe she will. But hey, maybe if you wanna recur Torgaar with Whisper, it’s worth it?
Goblin motivator. Goblin multi tokens in red. Black 1 drop that puts 6 into grave. Then big stuff. Haste your sacrifice card, and inatantly snag value.
I got a similar deck but it has captivating crew and I also kidnap opponents creatures sacrifice them really neat deck Dev keep
your the man bro...your one of the only dudes i buy brews from i appreciate the content!
Just got off of work and Dev uploads. Fuck yes

Wish this was a pauper deck. Really love the deck.
No Rekindling Phoenix?
Bone Dragon, Memorial to Folly in mana base, ravenous harpy, i have mono-black that uses The eldest Reborn and Cabal Strongholds
I like where this is, because I adore Jank in any format
Seen first 3 cards already two thumbs up deff going built this one
Hey dev, is there a way to view a list of all your deck lists?
"Yeah, they sponsor my shit... what of it?" lol

Dark bargain is a perfect draw card for this deck . Look at the top three cards put 2 in your hand 1in the grave you take 2 damage.
Can you make standard pauper decks again?
I think Doomed Dissenter would be a better choice than Graveyard Marshal. The dissenter does have to die to get a 2/2 but his 2 mana cost allows you to get him back with Teshar.
Cleansing nova for when things get out of hand?
Dev and guys, i have a question. Whenever a token dies, it goes to the grave and it gets removed. Will desecrated tomb trigger for this effect?
Ok, it says creature CARD. I am sorry . Gotta learn how to read I guess :P
I want to play this deck with a bunch of zubat cards as tokens. Bahaha!

Rekindling Phoenix is a good option to consider for Desecrated Tomb.
bats ? bats ? and more bats ?
your gonna get smacked by those bats !
Macabre Hatchery
Sorcery
Choose a creature card with converted mana cost 1 in your graveyard, then do the same for a creature card with converted mana cost 2 and 3. Return those cards to the battlefield.
Are bontu and Phoenix any good here?
Tattered mummy with Open the Graves. 2 damage plus a zombie for fodder.
Demon of Catastrophies? Plus it’s only 4 mana for the reanimate on Iz.
whatever happened to the sweet intro rap?
incoming 100k subs hype !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean the deck operates from a combination of cards yes. But it doesn't shout combo to me. It's more of a value/engine deck. Like Meren in edh isn't a combo but she is an engine that pumps out extreme value.
BW with elenda. Makes it so much more synergistic!
What's the list that you based this one of?
Open the Graves might be a good addition to this deck
I'm 1/10th the deck-builder that you are, Dev, but did you consider a creature with a repeatable sac ability? love your channel - this deck has no chance against anything though
Coool nice deck
Chainwhirler is quite a nuke for this deck unfortunately, otherwise also Elenda the dusk rose could have been useful

Narcomoeba only comes back from the grave if it got sent there from the library.
what about myr retriever?
This deck looks fun. I will try to build it on mtg arena
Well, ixalans binding will stop squee from being cast, even from exile
My favorite deck was Cifka's "Second Breakfast" deck, but WoTC banned Second Sunrise. :(
"Squee-letons" 😂😂
but Isareth's effect has an exile clause
Dev I run an br artifact deck in standard utilizing tomb and all the sac aggressive recurring w Pia's revolution
List in general: scrap heap scrounge and trawler heart o k weldfast engineer, walking B,
bromat c and g marshal, fetal p, unliscenced diss and phyrexian scrip
Can you cover 4c legends?
I think the deck would really benefit from a copy or two of Whisper, blood liturgist
please do post-rotation golgari graveyard~~
Love the shirt Bro!
How about a blood divination?
"Probably the last deck tech of the season." For the last 3 deck techs.
Aristobats?!
No power ranking ?
I would say dump the white and put in sarkhan in the the place of the angel. I do think the angel has great synergy with the deck but going a third color for just that card seems bad to me.
Costly plunder?
One or two of Open the Graves? Get creatures coming and going.
throw in Whisper, Blood Liturgist and maybe 1 gruesome fate and you got yourself a combo.
Sadly most decks will have some graveyard hate in sideboard and this deck just loses g1 to all the "good decks" post rotation
I love your shirt!
Isn’t sacred foundry out of standard?
Nice deck!
This deck is badass
ideas good needs one or two more pieces
Absolutely zero main board removal. I know combo decks should worry about making the combo happen....but this is more like a synergy deck and not really combo. Yeah maybe you will overwhelm the board at some point....but not even having the chance to take out the opp best creature or PW doesnt seem right. Maybe that's just me :)
I try and give it a spin...
It is very hard to get far enough to get it to start spinning...
Steve used a bat.
Graveyard marshal can exile squee
That's what I was thinking. Seems pretty good
I think we should just make this deck Golgari and put in green. Squee is too slow.
Seems like this needs a decent mana engine. I'm not judging it wrong am i ?
captain planetttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
