    Hey guys, I know there is s R/G version, so you can stop telling me. That deck costs more money and has already been shown by MtgGoldfish. I’m trying to bring you something that you haven’t seen before while remembering that not everybody has $100 or more to spend on cardboard

      I appreciate that. Do you still think you would revisit a R/G version with Goreclaw in the deck as well? The Goreclaw also works off of cards that go well with Unsealing. Keep up the great work!

    Glad someone else is trying a black/red unsealing deck. I've been playing one with a lot of success for a few weeks now. I don't really care for this version much though, it is way too top-heavy in the casting cost. I run dismissive pyromancer over the glint-sleeve since it dies so easily and you don't have to attack or have energy to draw cards. I also don't like scavenger in the deck. If it is for early game, that is when you most want to be able to block, plus it doesn't trigger unsealing. Black and red have some 4-power creatures for only 2 mana, I'd rather run some of them. Being able to trigger unsealing 2-3 times in a single turn is great, especially when it is the turn right after playing it.
    The only cards from this version I run in my deck are the inferno and lathnu hellions and ammit eternals. The rest seem too expensive or go against what the deck is trying to do. My deck tops out at 4 casting cost which lets me trigger unsealing multiple times in a turn. It also lets me be able to cycle extra lands through the pyromancers without hurting my mana base. Duress is also the most-played card in standard right now for a reason. Seems to me like those should be in the sideboard since that is one of the advantages of running black in a deck like this.
    I've had a lot more success with the black/red unsealing deck than the green/red version. The mana base is just so much better. You don't have to worry about having 3 green or 5 green to play your creatures. The only card in my deck that has even double of a color to cast it is Heart-Piercer Manticore which has been one of the standout creatures in the deck. Play it triggering unsealing, then sack another cheapt large-powered creature dealing 8+ damage in a single turn.

    If you wanted to use demon of catastrophes, use stuff like doomed dissenter for extra sacrifice value or even that 1 drop saproling removal for a neg 1. Also makes torgaar come down 4 cheaper for 2 saprolings if it comes to that. You could also use crash through/ sure strike to make stuff live longer or make damage get though on yargle.

    • @justinwhite2725
      @justinwhite2725 6 років тому

      Corey Berg It's a few months before rotation and new standard still has a lot of meat to it to be discovered.
      He usually starts doing rotation exclusive decks a month or so before rotation - and he'll intersperse them in the mean time (like with the green stompy rotation proof deck)
      Some of his decks work well post rotation with minimal modifications. The Life gain deck works really well and I expect this will too with appropriate changes

  • @gochadc

    I'm not gonna pretend I'm poor or anything, but it hurts to buy a deck for 45USD that it's gonna rotate in 2 months and it's sad... BECAUSE THIS LOOKS AWESOME!! playing those hellions and hearing at the opponent say "the f*ck are you doing?" would be so cool.
    what I mean is... 45 bucks it's a little too much for me in this moment of my life, specially since I have to buy singles from random people cos I'm not from a country were you can buy the whole deck just with a click BUT I love your channel anyway and I'm soo glad you are back.
    Also I can't wait for your next rotation free ultra-budget and ultra-fun deck, that I know for sure, you will be giving us in the next weeks/months
    Thanks you for everything Dev!

    I played against a version of this on MtG Arena, except it played at least three copies of Macabre Waltz. I was on a suboptimal Mono Green Stompy, and I couldn't match those refills with my card draw. That being said, if I had 4 Brontodons in my deck, maybe it wouldn't have mattered.

    This is a really great budget build But tbh I'd personally spring for the Red/Green build because it has so many cards that are great AND triggers unsealing, and it may be a little over a hundred but that's concentrated in the value of Carnage tyrant, ghalta and steel leaf none of which are rotating tho

    Really cool deck and as always love the puns the rock and I’ll keep with my comment train of thought and please do grixis midrange/energy it just won the SCG and placed like 4 in top 16 of the classic and the open. I’m playing it non stop till the RPTQ and id really like to see your take on the list and the sideboard plan and maybe you could even tell us a bit about how to sideboard vs certain matchups. I think that would be a great idea to start giving simple sideboard options vs certain matchups

      It is much more expensive, this is supposed to be budget. Also, the mana requirements are pretty bad with steel-leaf costing GGG and Gigantosaurus costing GGGGG.

    • @Bewaye12
      @Bewaye12 6 років тому

      Thought it could be a more competitive option as well. Running llanawar and goreclaw ramping into red/green dinos with triggered burn from unsealing.

    • @obsidianmoon13
      @obsidianmoon13 6 років тому

      The G/R version would be better than this version of a B/R unsealing deck, though definitely doesn't fit in the range of being a budget deck. Also, keep in mind that Goreclaw doesn't reduce the cost of steel-leaf or gigantosaurus though they do at least get the +1/+1 and trample when it attacks.
      The biggest problem with the G/R version is that the mana base is pretty rough. Since so many cards cost multiple green, the amount of red mana in the deck is very limited and the ones you do get often come into play tapped. It slows the deck down and dilutes it, especially since you get a loss in tempo the turn you play unsealing. Honestly, it would probably be better to just play mono G stompy at that point. You can watch Seth's video on MTGGoldfish to see some of the issues with it, including plenty of mana problems.
      I've had a lot more success with a B/R unsealing deck than I did with G/R, though mine looks quite a lot different than this one. This one is too top-heavy with casting cost and has too many creatures that don't trigger unsealing. There is a video uploaded today on SideboardMTG where he played this version of the B/R deck and you can tell it has a lot of problems.

  • @Chillsabre
    @Chillsabre 6 років тому

    Wouldnt the red/green work just as well if not better? Llanowar elves, dragon disciples and other accelerant can really make this deck come out in turbo mode. Or for black/red, wouldnt Lilianna, Death's Majesty make sense to pull out creatures for -3 without paying its cost and avoid counterspells?

    • @jackpabich763
      @jackpabich763 6 років тому +1

      Yes. You get better mana fixers along with Rhonas, SLC, and a bunch of Green fatties. Goreclaw seems fun, but there are also Pelakka Wurm, Ghalta, Giganotosaurus, and other powerful things. But there is also the argument that Black has better removal (especially V-contempt+Fatal Push). So Green is not the strictly better option.
