Quick summary for anyone interested. Will it scratch the GT7 itch for a week? Not if you want simulation. Will it scratch the Simcade itch till GT7? Yes! Will it satisfy the causal racer? Yes, you will be Wowed by dynamic crashes and visual spectacles like fireworks or the beauty of rain in the night. Next gen owners get an even smoother ride with double the frames. This game also has the most convenient online I've seen in a racing game, between crossplay and being able to join active online races... It's ingenious.
The physics are really good, I might even go as far as to say it’s a more refined version of the RACE DRIVER GRID physics. This is a big step in the right direction with more content and variety coming very close to grid 2. However it still falls short from the original grid since that simulates a small fantasy Motorsport world and I didn’t expect GRID Legends to bring that back. On the positive the career mode actually has some variety and proper progression and a lot of tracks and cars too as well as different modes(unfortunately time attack still exists).
Grid 2? That game has the worst twitchy nfs like handling of all the Grid series. Autosport has one of the best mix of arcade and sim handling in a racing game coupled with a great sense of speed (true for all grid games) and great AI.
@VM Hosen Grid 2 had better physics than criterion or ghost could ever craft. Getting the perfect drift through a corner is so satisfying while the others were either easy or complete garbage.
I'm simply loving it. Toca race driver 2 was my first pc game ever and grid legends is clearly a revival of the Toca games. It's complete, full of things to do and unlock. I just hope DLCs will keep this stage of quality
I really loves the gameplay, however I'm kinda mixed for the story especially Codemasters decision of making Ravenwest and McKanes as a vile villain. The McKanes I knew from ToCa Race Driver are way more different and I felt McKanes in this game are being bastardized out of nowhere.
Here's some things that can be improved in later patches. 1. Even more racing liveries for cars that you don't own, or maybe open up the paint shop for cars that you don't own. I would love to play around with the paint combinations! 2. Make the replay mode in this even more cinematic, like in og GRID or 2019, introduce a ton of Replay camera angles that makes it look like you're watching a movie. 3. Photo mode 4. More Content via dlc. 5. Opportunities for more credits both offline and online.
I love how they brought back the old characters and even made the old hero a prevalent character in this story :) and finally that darn AI from the old games has a face! I love the game
@@lewisgordon1490 Most game's I'd agree but Grid Legends is made for contact so it kind of makes it fun, what I don't like about the AI though is how they feel so on rails and are difficult to spin out.
The colour temperature of this game is just perfect for the kind of racer it is, love the warmth too it. (My screen's are already set to the warmer side, so it looks extra good with Grid). Nice video. This game deserves all the praise, I love Forza and GT but they're a different style of racing. We need Grid, it separates itself from the simulation while trumping at arcade racing. Playing on legendary/Custom (Clutch override on), you can feel how much better the game does arcade/simcade racing than other various racing title's in simcade have. And who doesn't like random crashes and track rivals?! They make for very dynamic race's. I'll be onto GT day one, but Grid's the type of game I'll still jump on here and there for a race even when GT 7 releases. We need to treat different styles of game's among the genre's, as their own unique form (If that's a given). Too many times, game's are bundled up together just because they seem "similar" to the causal onlooker or "journalist". That is simply not true.
GRID is one of those games that makes simulation handling visceral and noticeable while providing action-packed Motorsports racing, that's what simcade is and it has been done pretty well.
Based on a few hours of play time I can tell you already I LOVE the physics! Never have I ever had a arcade game feel so right on a steering wheel controller (fanatec club sport) with just that I don’t care about story as long as gameplay is fun! I am having issue with some button mapping on the wheel itself though. I am having to use the controller as a button box if you will to change camera and flashback which sucks
@@bunk4 Depends on what your looking for. It drives very nice and feels pretty realistic. But cornering speed is very arcade. You can go into corners at very high rate of speeds and exit the corner without much loss of traction even with tc off. But it does make the speed sensation better and is really fun! I’d say it’s worth it. I sat through the whole story cause I was just having so much fun, in one sit through and have much more to do on career!
Its worth it, Legends is far from the 2019 reboot and it actually drives really well. Waiting for a sale is a good decision, but the game is worth it for 30 or 40 bucks. Trust me on this one and give GRID Legends a try.
Thanks for the timely review! Pre-ordered the deluxe edition and playing on PS5. Really enjoying it. However, I’ve found a few things so far that I’m keen to hear Traxion’s and/or others thoughts or intel on? 1. I think the sound is terrible compared to Grid 2019. No deep engine rumbles and lack of tire noise. A whole lot of other background noises are overpowering. Jump into the Nissan Skyline R32 under the Super Modified category in both editions of Grid for a good comparison. The former had great sound, now the lack of good sound takes away from the sense of power and speed. 2. No H pattern shifter support, at least for Thrustmaster, so far. Playing with clutch and shifter for relevant cars can made Grid 2019 a deeper experience, and more enjoyable, particularly with slower cars. No such support for Grid Legends, yet. - Update: If you connect the TH8A shifter directly to the wheelbase with the DIN connector cable, it is supported. You cannot have the shifter connected to the PS5 directly using the USB as worked with GRID 2019. This is a helpful resource for supported games 3. I can see an option for 120hz mode, but it cannot be enabled…looks like it must be an upcoming feature.

It’s nothing spectacular. But for never playing the series it’s something new and fresh for me. Not big on overall lack of physics. Even with all assists off you can throw cars around the corner.
