"It's not obvious at first glance, but Grid Legends is a definite step up from Grid 2019, with a bigger collection of circuits, more race types, and some extremely clever hop-in multiplayer. It's not a dramatic leap, though, particularly as the reused car roster grows stale and the customisation options tread water. Still, this brand of accessible racing action remains high on contact and high on excitement, and the fact that the live-action, documentary-style story can harken all the way back to 2002's TOCA Race Driver is a cute and effective flex for a racing series with such history."

I'm always glad to hear Luke's voice on an IGN race game review. He knows his race games.
He doesn’t if he rated GRID 2019 higher than this. This game is tiers above it.

On the flipside, for sales purposes it's better it was released before and not same-day or after. Some people might be itching for a new race game and don't want to wait another week gt7. You never know, Grid could end up scratching that itch for them
The race game reviews from IGN are always excellent. Having a specialized reviewer who is knowledgable about the genre and that can give deeper insight to the game is always a nice bonus

This expression from gamesradar summarizes Grid Legends very well: "Grid Legends finds its niche alongside Forza Horizon and Gran Turismo, offering track-based thrills for all skill levels.". As an avid racing gamer, i'm certainly having fun with improved driving mechanics of Grid Legends. It's not an excellent game but a solid racing game for racing game lovers.
Sad to say the Dirt Rally titles are the only modern Codemasters games with a decent driving model. Dirt 5 and Grid 2019 felt so unnatural to me

True story. Dirt 5 was beautiful but the driving model is soooo blunt. Arcade is fine sometimes but Dirt 5 was very disappointing...
Grid 2008 handling also was extremely unnatural, yet it is beloved

This game is very underrated. Simply the most fun I've had in a racing game since forever

This game deserves more than a 7.
This reviewer is one of the few that makes me watch the entire video from IGN.
The first grid on Xbox 360 had the best drift action I've ever played on a console and I'm disappointed no other Grid games have a drift compertishion at all. Grid 2 on Xbox 36O didn't have it ethier. If you played grid one back in the day salute
I've never played a game that had better drifting than the first GRID, maybe Pro Street for the smoke effects but GRID's drift gameplay was amazing.
Best racer of all time
Played it on PC. One of the best racing games I've ever played. Drifting was indeed top tier and imo has yet to be surpassed.
That game was way ahead of its time especially with the graphics and the crash physics. Hands down one of my favourite racing games of all time
Surprised he didn't mention how insanely easy this game is on the default/normal setting. You'll want to ramp up the difficulty at least a couple of notches
Half the fun for me is finding out what ai level destroys me.
120 vehicles and over 130 routes to race on it is a BIG step up from 2019 7/10 is lame bro 9/10 for me

Agreed! It's such a shame that Codemasters decided to not permit Microsoft to enable it as backwards compatible on the current Xbox platforms.

Devs really need to realize that "arcade racer" doesn't have to mean "drives like a 2 year old is playing with a toy car". How is it that Forza Horizon is the only modern game to figure this out?
So much wasted potential here.
The vehicles in grid legends handle a thousand times better than Forza 4 & 5.

it's seems they put more emphasis on the main story movie's and interaction then the gameplay itself. Bring back the first grid with damage and sponsorship.
That fiery crash from the first Toca game gave me nightmares as a kid. Glad to see they used some of the names and characters from that game.
Amazing game. Had a Lot of Fun with it's story mode.
Easily the best racing car game out there. Just wait till you're racing the F1 cars in the snow at 350 Kph!
It's a Sim-Cade. Simulation/Arcade hybrid. And it's great.

This looks like a game that will appear on gamepass in a few months. It doesn't look bad but it doesn't look like it has something that makes it a must buy. Honestly Codies need to step up their game a bit more
it's already on GamePass if you have Ultimate as a 10 hour trial. 10 hours is a lot of races.

@@NavyGuy2OO7 it's definitely worth it, if you want to Toca feel, turn the difficulty to Legendary, it will remove all assists, and if the AI is too difficult, you can adjust that difficulty seperate.

Underrated imo it's not a sim but it dose what it dose very well your gonna have close competative racing online with this one reminds me of early grid the way you can stick on the limit and throw the car around great fun.

The Multi Class mode is basically the Cat & Mouse game type the community came up with back during the Project Gotham Racing 2 days. Glad to see it's an actual game mode.

Who mixed the audio for this review? Never had to change my volume this many times in 8 minutes. Not to mention, how did it get a 7? Game feels straight out of 2010.

It's weird that they own the team that made drive club, and that game can look better than this in some places
Wish it got a 4k 60fps patch/update..
Driveclub was designed specifically for PS4 so it didn't need to think about scaling performance for different systems. Multiplat and multiplayer games are always held back to be able to run, load and perform well on older systems like xbox one as well as seriesx and ps5.
Both games are build on completely different engines.
The lackluster damage physics is reason alone NOT to call this a Grid game. But us true fans are always gonna complain.

Codemasters has had the majority of the Driveclub team for a few years now & is still yet to utilise them properly. I'm not saying 'give us Driveclub 2' but surely they could do something similar but even better. First thing they need to do is get them to work on a new graphics engine.

Bizarre Creations got killed off as Blur didn't sell well unfortunately and if it were revived by another studio Codemasters would be the last one you'd want to do it.
A lot of those devs ended up behind Forza, if you haven't tried it
