Years later i had always wondered what the actual movie was about because objects are flying and the audience is throwing out lines (hilarious ones of course) it throws the whole narrative off. Story Time With Mom:
My friend's high school age older brother and his buddies took us to see Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1980 when I was in 7th grade and I can honestly say the experience blew this then 13 year old girl's mind wide open. We saw it at a theater called The New Loft and it was featured at midnight every Saturday for years. Many people in the audience were dressed in costume, threw toilet paper ("Great Scott!") and sprayed water during the rainstorm scenes. I still fondly remember the experience 43 years later. Thank you David Shack wherever you are for graciously allowing your little sister and her skinny nerdy friend to tag along that night so long ago - it became a cherished memory I'll never forget. ❤

I am middle-aged, and today, this video, is my first exposure to Rocky Horror Picture Show. I lived in New York City all my life and I had never known what it even was; I thought it was like, Saturday Night Live or something. Thanks, YT algorithm... I was simply searching for Tim Curry singing Toxic Love in Fern Gully.
My first thought? Damn, I knew he had a charming villain-coded voice but I had no idea Tim Curry was this hot. I had to become middle-aged to be knowledgeable and self-secure enough to appreciate this to the fullest, with all of its psychosexual, artistic, and sociocultural connotations. Had I seen this when I was 20, before I got to know gay people and before I became wiser, it would have turned me away as more off-putting American grossness (I was an immigrant kid).

At the 812, there were no proper seats, only big foamy pillows on an open floor. They'd show "Rocky Horror" on Saturday nights and, we got in the habit in the summer of '79. One night all the power went out on the Monterey Peninsula, including the theater. Given that many people had matches and candles on hand, the theater lit up dimly. Then people who were dressed up in character went foraward and continued where the movie left off. Never forgot that.
