how the exploit works:
pyro is stuck in the cone like an engineer is stuck in a tp when he sentry jumps (one of the methods used).
pyro self damages to increase his momentum
they flamethrower particles also are affected by this momentum so that it can reach father and follow the pyro mid air.
but in this case the pyro is stuck in the cone so the particles just become longer range.
if the cone is hit, the pyro is no longer stuck and is sent flying from the momentum built up.

This is I think the glitch that happens.
The glitch is not the misplaced flames but being stuck in a cone.
This allows you to build up momentum to a crazy level. In order for pyros flames to not appear behind him, the game spawns them further forward the faster pyro goes. But thats just a theory.

Wait I remember that question in a game I got in recently. Wow. I left this game because a bunch of people were conga-ing and I had left a pure Friendlies server just before and didn't even want to chance that kinda thing happening again.
NASA could've saved so much money. Just get a traffic cone, a "qualified" medic and a pyromaniac and voila, instant space visits
