So , I'm am about to watch the Mini Grouper video , knowing full well , I will be purchasing one soon . I saw a disassembly video, showing that the cf overlaid G10 version appeared to be cf through and through. (Sure doesn't look like it from the outside.) I wanted to mention some of my edging tools/technique , since you're seeing the benefits of stropping . This is absolutely not a suggestion for the channel, but simply things that I personally find helpful to me , in making every edge wickedly sharp . I strop , and ceramic if needed , every blade, prior to switching to new ones . Sharp edges make me inordinately happy, which is a bit worrying, but there it is . In order to ensure that initial happiness, I use an articulated lighted magnifying lens , or alternatively , a CCD "microscope"(😂) , for closer examination, a goinometer , or laser edge angle meter , Worksharp Precision Adjust fixed angle sharpening system, so as not to risk marring my many coated blades , and a BESS sharpness tester , to confirm my sharpening results . I also keep digital scales and a cf digital micrometer , to check weight, blade stock thickness , and thickness behind the edge . I try to give each application what it wants , based on steel and geometry. I don't want to try to put too low of an edge angle on thick stock , or on brittle steels (D2 , S90V ) but will go nuts on Nitro V, N690 , or 14C. Happy knife , happy life .
Hey, thanks for all the little tips. These are wayy beyond where Im currently at, and yes im extremely happy as well at the new levels of sharpness now afforded to me by the little strop. Getting a bess tester will be something that I may do way down the line, for now if it shaves hair without scratching any skin, thats great enough for me. Thankyou though of course for all the very thorough lists of things you do, ill give it a re-read again. I do know about the last part regarding angles on certain steels though, but everything else is much appreciated as always
