    When I was a little kid growing up in North Texas, we would sit in the park on the north edge of Bachman lake and watch the planes land at Love field.
    Its only a 10 min flight from my field. I need to put this airport on my list just to see it from the airborne side of that landing. Very cool Martin!

    Welcome to our beautiful state of Texas y'all! Many decades ago I finished my Private Pilot Certificate in ADS. I now live and fly from KCRP and recently purchased a C35. "Mountain" ranges east of KMLC are the San Bois and Quachita. Really more like hills though. I fly into KMLC and eat Italian food on the east side of McAlester at Krebs. Home of several really good eateries.

    When I landed at Love back in the 80's, as I landed, I joked with the Southwest flight behind me to beware of the Cessna 172s wake turbulence.
    Nice approach. It is always bumpy low in the D/FW area due to so many different ground surfaces with uneven rising air.
    I flew out of Ft. Worth a LOT and tried to get up to altitude before heading east across D/FW, otherwise you get stuck low (under 3k) all the way to Paris/Bonham

      @@martinpauly Thanks for asking, Martin! The NOTAM with the ban on dual instruction has just been lifted, but we're still in lockdown with a crazy curfew and many places (stores, sport clubs, restaurants...) closed. Further only 2 POB allowed. Only farmacy and super markets are normally opened.
      As a student I was grounded again (2nd time for 3 months), but very happy to be invited in the meantime by a friend for an awesome flight (of 2) in his plane to and over the Dutch isles. I uploaded a very short video (5 mins) of that great flight, if you like to have an idea. I had a blast!

    Getting close to my neck of the woods there Martin. In between Ardmore and OKC are the Arbuckle mountains although they are more like large hills. Traveling up I'35 you would pass right through them on the ground. But I believe you may have been east of those mountains. Arkansas has some pretty nice mountains in the Ozarks area. That was probably Lake Lewisville Becky was referring to. DFW traffic often approaches over the lake from the east. Welcome to Texas where we only have one week of winter per year. Hope to see you at ACCA in July and maybe even Oshkosh.

    If you come to California and make it to Mammoth you should reach out. Also, have you always had the throw-over yoke?

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  3 роки тому

      Thank you, Josh - very kind of you.
      I've had a dual yoke in the Bonanza a couple of times, most recently when I trained for my commercial certificate. Most of the time I've had the throw-over style, though.

    Great video. Thanks for using a written checklist. I see too many pilots on UA-cam using only a memorized checklist. Great communications procedures. Just one minor suggestion, Use "on zero thousand not one zero, 10 thousand. it is a common mistake. look forward to meeting you one day.

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  3 роки тому

      Thanks, James. Now I feel bad - I was certain I was doing it the recommended way, but when I looked it up in the AIM, it confirmed what you said. Did that change at some point? I could swear I saw or heard "one-zero-ten-thousand" as the right way somewhere in the past...
      Best regards,
      Martin

      @@martinpauly Thanks for the comment and for looking it up in the AIM. Don't feel bad about using that phrase, it is fairly common but wrong. Your radio procedures are better than most that I heard during my years flying.

    I see the TACH time as just over 2200 hours. Is that the total time on 0TB ? Also....How's the new engine doing with oil burn now that it's totally broke in ? And problems ?

    • @martinpauly

      Ignore the TACH number, Bob. It's just a number. I have ca. 100 hour on that new engine by now. Very happy with it, almost no oil consumption.
