When I landed at Love back in the 80's, as I landed, I joked with the Southwest flight behind me to beware of the Cessna 172s wake turbulence. Nice approach. It is always bumpy low in the D/FW area due to so many different ground surfaces with uneven rising air. I flew out of Ft. Worth a LOT and tried to get up to altitude before heading east across D/FW, otherwise you get stuck low (under 3k) all the way to Paris/Bonham

Thanks for the ride Martin. I used to work at Love and flew in and out from time to time part 91 when I was with a 135 operation. I loved the airport and drank aviation every day. Love Field has changed much over the years but what hasn't changed is the class you see at these FBO's but you do pay for it, Awesome. Millionaire over at Addison is great too.

We were without power in my neighborhood in Fort Worth for about 36 hours. Thankfully, no broken pipes from the sub zero temps, unlike many of our neighbors. If you find yourself in the DFW area again with some free time, I'd love to take you guys to dinner and pick your brain a bit about getting my PPL.
I fly out of McKInney. Shooting practice approaches today. Got beat to death. Felt like at one point had the nose pointing straight down and still climbing 500 fpm. Enjoy the videos! Great editing.
@@martinpauly Was around noon but was a cool day (50's-60's). Winds were 8 knots on the ground and 30 knots at 3000'. Was good practice though! Even getting beaten had good approaches.
My home town as a teen. Spent many a time on my back at the "threshold" of 13L, down by Bachman Lake. 747's were landing there back then, incredible at +/-100ft. Nice airmanship, sir and thanks for the nostalgic trip!
Great video. I've never thought about getting an Amber Alert while flying, and on final that could be an event! Guess my descent checklist just got a new item, "phones to airplane mode." Thanks!

The NOTAM with the ban on dual instruction has just been lifted, but we're still in lockdown with a crazy curfew and many places (stores, sport clubs, restaurants...) closed. Further only 2 POB allowed. Only farmacy and super markets are normally opened. As a student I was grounded again (2nd time for 3 months), but very happy to be invited in the meantime by a friend for an awesome flight (of 2) in his plane to and over the Dutch isles. I uploaded a very short video (5 mins) of that great flight, if you like to have an idea. I had a blast! Got my flight lesson of today postponed due to weather. Big bummer after waiting so long. Hopefully soon back up again..
Getting close to my neck of the woods there Martin. In between Ardmore and OKC are the Arbuckle mountains although they are more like large hills. Traveling up I'35 you would pass right through them on the ground. But I believe you may have been east of those mountains. Arkansas has some pretty nice mountains in the Ozarks area. That was probably Lake Lewisville Becky was referring to. DFW traffic often approaches over the lake from the east. Welcome to Texas where we only have one week of winter per year. Hope to see you at ACCA in July and maybe even Oshkosh.
Another great video Martin. We’ve had our Avidyne for a few months and I learn something new from your videos nearly every time. I’ve used the VNAV a bit, but I hadn’t done it with the knob and I hadn’t put my VSR in the data block, so I’m going to set that up. Thanks!

Hi George, yes, that is a very helpful feature. And for approaches, SIDs and STARs, it load all those crossing altitudes straight from the database into your flight plan. Makes it hard to screw up! 😁 - Martin

Thanks Martin, I really appreciate your channel. This helps me a lot. I just purchased 2 GoPro cameras, a Hero 9 & MAX, for personal recordings to log some flying memories for watching in my later years! Which I hope is a long time from now! :-). However, being new using these cameras & editing it has been a steep learning curve for me but I’ll keep trying! An example was the other day I recorded my first flight & somehow put the MAX in time-lapse mode! Ugh! :-)

Great video. Thanks for using a written checklist. I see too many pilots on UA-cam using only a memorized checklist. Great communications procedures. Just one minor suggestion, Use "on zero thousand not one zero, 10 thousand. it is a common mistake. look forward to meeting you one day.

I see the TACH time as just over 2200 hours. Is that the total time on 0TB ? Also....How's the new engine doing with oil burn now that it's totally broke in ? And problems ?
Ignore the TACH number, Bob. It's just a number. I have ca. 100 hour on that new engine by now. Very happy with it, almost no oil consumption. - Martin

I've had a dual yoke in the Bonanza a couple of times, most recently when I trained for my commercial certificate. Most of the time I've had the throw-over style, though.

Great video. Thanks for using a written checklist. I see too many pilots on UA-cam using only a memorized checklist. Great communications procedures. Just one minor suggestion, Use "on zero thousand not one zero, 10 thousand. it is a common mistake. look forward to meeting you one day.
Thanks, James. Now I feel bad - I was certain I was doing it the recommended way, but when I looked it up in the AIM, it confirmed what you said. Did that change at some point? I could swear I saw or heard "one-zero-ten-thousand" as the right way somewhere in the past...

@@martinpauly Thanks for the comment and for looking it up in the AIM. Don't feel bad about using that phrase, it is fairly common but wrong. Your radio procedures are better than most that I heard during my years flying.

I see the TACH time as just over 2200 hours. Is that the total time on 0TB ? Also....How's the new engine doing with oil burn now that it's totally broke in ? And problems ?
Ignore the TACH number, Bob. It's just a number. I have ca. 100 hour on that new engine by now. Very happy with it, almost no oil consumption.

Yes, it's only one yoke, and it's moveable. Google "Bonanza throw over yoke", and you'll find more info.

Dallas is a good place to visit but hate living there. Too many people and like she said packed together WAY too close!! You flew over where I use to Snow bird there!!!
Well, all places have pros and cons. That's one reason I like having an airplane - we can move around fairly easily when we feel we need a change of scenery.
