Hey guys, hoping you're all having a happy Halloween. This video looks back to the Halloween updates of old that Counter-Strike used to get, and talks a bit about them. I go into a good bit of detail about why the new Cobblestone sucks as well. Then, I look to the future, and hypothesize about what a future Halloween update might look like.

I live in a never ending nightmare. The absence of Cobble haunts me each waking moment
When Halloween Cbble came out, I remember thinking, "oh, neat! This is a silly, temporary change that makes for some festive fun." Then Halloween passed, and it just stayed that way.. forever. All they had to do was revert back to the previous version after the holiday and it would've mostly been a non-issue.
Yeah i miss old cobblestone, was an awesome and unique map

Personally I like more complex and fun maps, old operation maps were dope AF, Insertion 2 is one of my favorites of all time. I know ADHD kids dont like them, but I want more fun maps in the game even in comp game modes. I miss doing CS world tour with all the maps in game with bangers like (old) militia, assault, dust 1, aztec, etc. Old operation maps should be stuck into randomized comp and casual pools after they conclude. I dont mind having some more simplified and streamlined maps in the game, but the CS2 release has me incredibly disappointed. It seems tailored purely for the sweaty tryhard audience and literally no consideration for fun map enjoyers. I really miss 2015/2016 CSGO it was such a fun time and new players will never get to experience it.
Hopefully the Casual nature of CS isnt lost... i am still in shock they managed to release CS2 WITHOUT surf maps, mini games, the BR mode, and all those things which were played by a smaller community but people liked those .... the custom servers..
I hope they didn't decide to just make it purely competitive and strip away everything else........ in my opinion they should have at least still kept CSGO up just for those more casual and custom made servers and experiences, while working on CS2 and making it just for competitive side...
Ah yes, the death of Cobblestone. At least now we have some lore in place for it's eventual resurrection into the map pool 👻

Ember Halloween needs a video. When Valve misses to provide, the community provides.
Great video, but I wouldn‘t get my hopes up. As good as your ideas considering nade skins etc sound, I feel like CS2 is still a long way from getting cosmetics and missions. When it is finally ready, I hope it will be an operation like the old ones up until Hydra. Everything after Hydra was terrible and probably why they stopped shipping half-assed operations altogether. Speaking of operations: until CS2 has some extra modes, I do not think they can release an operation. Maybe they really could release extra modes and new cosmetics along with an exciting operation..
Halloween cobblestone was so cool.
I think I’m just a sucker for “night” themed maps, like dust_2_night and mirage night. The vibes are unmatched

original Cobblestone was never played on the 'new' economy. CTs would have to save constantly because they would be punished with brutal resets. Newer players don't even know what I'm talking about. These changes may have largely fixed the issues the map had. It of course still needed a retouch for minor things though.
Co-op mission and those stealth missions were very fun! More campaign!
Guardian mode was so fun and having enemies that don't have guns would help a ton with its playability.
I was hoping you would have mentioned the de_ember halloween overhaul, granted it wasn’t made by valve but it was still cool

CSGO used to have a hidden zombie player model that was mostly used by the community in zombie maps for single player and coop play but that was pretty much it. Would like to see CS2 getting an official fully supported zombie mode, that would be crazily fun.

Hey penguin, don’t know if you know this but a winter themed cobblestone cs2 remake was found in cs2 files. Cobblestone is 100% being remade for cs2 and will probably be shipped out in a Christmas update

Cobble and Mirage remakes better be in the works. Inferno has had 3 diff versions while Mirage has only had minor upgrades
I feel like cs2 with the bug fixing being important they don’t wanna accidentally break anything new with such an update they’ll hopefully return in the future and maybe we’re gonna get a winter offensive update this year, there were those snowy cobblestone leaks after all

I think there's a chance we get christmas cobble or just winter cobble this december or november.
Winter cobble would be sick, but with the old cobble layout. Not that short Halloween one.

The intern only works 2 days for CS because he spends the remaining 5 pretending to update TF2 meaningfully.
No disclaimer that leetify isn't working currently with demos disabled?? Assume you recorded this prior to cs2 launch but would be good to let people know before they possibly pay for a service that isn't currently functioning

We need more maps added. Train, cache and the old cobble would be nice. If they don’t give back train and cache this year I’m expecting them to fully remake like they did with inferno. That would be very nice, but if they wait 1 year and bring them back just like they were in Csgo I’m gonna be very disappointed…
CS used to feel like an actual community, it used to feel like a second home you would visit for a little bit after work/school. Game was consistently up kept with community made content made by creative individual who care about CS. Now it's just sad. Devs don't care and just treat it as a cash cow.

ngl they are 100% focusing on bugs. nothing else. we would be lucky if they add anything next month. I personally just want the rest of the hostage maps back. i am a casual player that DID care about all these holiday updates and i actively played all the new maps they put into casual over the years because it kept the game interesting in between operations.
Pretty sad how CS lost its personality when all of these fun things were gradually phased out.

I don’t think adding a new game mode for Halloween is as easy as you’re making it out to be, for the same reasons why we don’t yet have war games. To make a game mode for cs2 I think you need to rewrite the code from the ground up, or do major changes to “port” it to source 2. Even though they could use the guardian mode as a template I think Valve would rather spend development time right now to improve the core experience. Besides, from Valves point of view their next seasonal update or operation needs to be something huge, especially being the first major update to cs2. It needs to showcase the new features of source 2 and prove to the community that switching engine was the correct call

We don't need such minor changes (skin in nades, chickens within pumpkin). We want good servers, good anticheat and after that some fun modes. Thats all!!!
Cs2 servers have been far better than csgo for me, I’ve yet to deal with cheaters since go first came out.

@@exouztasos honestly, yes. Ivew had more bugs in csgo by far. Ive only had one thing i can call a bug in cs2. I also have 100x morew hours in go. you are just a complainer who wants to jump on the bandwagon
