I bought a 2004 LS several months ago sight unseen for $2000.00. It has the 3.8 with most creature comforts. It has 154,000 miles and so far runs great and has a straight body. The only issues are the dimmer switch is bad and the silver paint could use a buff, it has some light scratches where things have been sat on it then dragged off. It gets 20 mpg in town and 30-32 mpg on the highway. So far it has performed like a car with maybe 50,000ish.

Similar story w me. Just bought a Cherry red 2004 LS for $3998. 136k miles. Brand new tires and brakes. Swear it was that one car that WAS driven only by grandma to church and back...LOVE those 6 cylinders and the front bench seat. Reminds me of my old Crown Vic.

I own a 2004 Impala LS. It's my first car, this year marks its seventh year being my car. Honestly, I love it! It only had one owner before me. It only had 96K miles on it. I've never had major issues with it. It's sporty, gets me from point A to point B with no issues. If I had to get another vehicle, I would find another Impala from the 2000-2005 range.

I had a 2003 Impala LS, and a 2005 base model. I kept up on the maintenance. Both were serviced regularly and the factory maintenance schedule was followed. Both cars had transmission problems, and had to have a new transmission installed by 70,000 miles. Both had to have ABS Tractiion Control Modules replaced by 70,000 miles. Both had poorly designed rack and pinion steering gear leaks, and a steering rack would leak by 20,000 miles. Both had tires that would need replacing every 25,000 miles. I had both engines, and they had to have intake, and head gaskets replaced by 70,000 miles. Both cars were not reliable, and were money pits. Even when following the maintence schedule they still fell apart. The rack and pinion steering racks were poorly designed, and belonged in a smaller car. The engines were too powerful for the transmission to handle. The GM dealers service departments near me said the transmissions, and steering racks were regular service items, and replacements were necessary on these cars. GM could have done better on these 2000 through 2005 Impala's.

I had the first silver 2000 LS Trunk Monkey Edition in Honolulu. And I loved it. It was almost immaculate when I traded it in late 2005, with nice window tint, Optima Battery l, properly maintained with Mobil1 synthetic oil. I got a new black 2006 Impala SS, also the first one here. It was nice, especially with the Flowmaster Exhaust I had put in, but if I could get the 2000 back now in the condition I traded it in, I would be happy. I like the grill and the spoiler and the color on the SS, though.
Either one is a good choice, depending on what your wants are. More reliability and longevity with the LS, or more sporty and performance with the SS with the caveat of the increased wear and tear and shortened longevity, or maintenance and repair costs.

Cheverolet introduced the Super Sport Package back in 1961 on the Impala first then the Nova/Chevelle/Malibu/Camaro/El Camino/Monte Carlo, ETC after that.
And one of the standard equipment items you got from the very beginning was a factory upgraded suspension.
That's important to have besides the most powerful engine/tranny/axle combos. SS was always the Muscle Car package from Cheverolet.
I'm surprised you guys miss that crucial detail.
Of course as much as I love Super Sport Chevy's, I have to sadly say that this generation Impala got away from the full sized rear drive platform that always was and always will be the Impala.

      @CB12345 Рік тому +1

I agree, my favorite generation Impala was the one before this one in the mid 1990s, but I wish this 2005 had more horsepower, like about at least 300 would of helped and better suspensions for more interactive handling.

FYI, the supercharged 3.8 is just as reliable as the NA 3.8. Both are easy 200k to 300k and more capable without major maintenance. FE is not that different either. My 00 GTP supercharged averaged mid 20s and got around 32 on the hwy. the biggest difference is the gas grade which was a lot more palatable when there was only a 10 cent difference between grades. Also, synthetic oil is not required on the SC 3.8, but why would one not use synthetic on whatever they own? Back in 2029, even with the mileage difference, the much rarer, higher contented, more powerful, much better performance SS is easily the better buy for what you get.

Oh, i forgot the motor had the intake manifold leak problem done by the dealer right before we bought it. So it had a new gasket installed.

Lazer blue is better and it has a super charger.

I agree, I honestly don't like black because so many cars have that color all over the place. The Lazer Blue looks beautiful and fits the car better.

    Legroom? Sure thing.
    Bolstering/support for corners? None whatsoever..
Also your camera shakes like you have a bent wheel which is stupid easy to do. Either that or bad bearings

The camera was shaking because the cheap suction cup mount was trash.

I can't blame you, the base and LS are terrible to me. The SS is the perfect fit.

The owner sold the car pretty quickly after the video. It was a super clean and well maintained car, however.

All Chevy Impalas 2000 and up are junk because of the electrical problems they have I wouldn't even take an Impala for free because they are that big of a nightmare to own.

My 2001 Impala had a bad BCM board that I ordered from Chevy Dealer $ 250 new. I think it had a loose soder joint on this BCM, It fixed dash security light & all electrical problems; locks, trunk, etc. Add install about 150 + dealer program for BCM was 100. Total 550. To find & re-solder spot would save the $250 at least. Hope helps.
