Italian Grandma Makes Chicken Soup with Pasta

- CHICKEN SOUP:
1 Whole Chicken, cut into pieces
10 cup Water, approx. 2-3” above chicken
2-3 Bay Leaves
½ Onion, cut in thirds
¼ cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
3 Celery Stalks & Tops, chopped
2 large Carrots, chopped
2 Potatoes, cut in half
1 cup Fresh Tomato, cut into large chunks
Salt to taste
1 lb Ditalini Pasta, or whatever type you like
Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese, sprinkle on top

Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.

SO thankful that someone had the inspired idea (inspired by love, no doubt, for this lady) to film Gina and share her with the rest of us. She is a warm and comforting embrace and a memory of times in the kitchen with the moms, grandmas and great grandmas who taught us about love and comfort and food and how to pass on our stories to our children and their children. You don't have to be Italian to love her ... the language of this kind of love is Universal. THANKS to whomever was inspired to begin this filming.

Happiness is logging on to UA-cam to find a new grandma Gina video. I love watching your channel you remind me of my grandmother so much. She'd make chicken soup by boiling the herbs and chicken then she'd take a couple cups of broth and make rice with it. She'd serve the chicken with the rice and the soup on cold winter days. i never thought of cooking the noodles separately, i see it makes a huge difference. my soup gets too thick with all the starch and the noodles soaking up the broth. thank you for showing me a better way

Grandma Gina, when I'm little I come home from school and go to my grandmas house she always had a big pot of soup on the stove. We never talked I just sat at the table and she made me a big bowl of soup and buttered bread . When I watch you I can feel I'm in my grandmas kitchen . Thank you for sharing with us. When I watch you, I remember how blessed I am to have had grandparents, all from Italy, and parents, aunts and uncles who instilled a love of food and cooking in my generation.
