The Audi being so modern and relying so much on technology would be more challenging to pinpoint what the issue is, which I'm sure at some point you will experience it yourself. The 240 has such an immense tuning platforms (the Audi does to but it's more expensive) and the fact that the 240 is what let you start this channel man. I think it deserves to be the one that stays. If possible I would make as much content getting the Audi up to date, for example doing normal maintenance stuff replacing fluids, filters and then sell it. This way you have more content, a proper send off to the Audi and work on the super cool 240 with the budget! BTW glad to see you back making content!
For a new car, that thing looks MINT, but as much as we want to see the repair and possible mods on it, Audies tend to get really expensive if there is more than one problem. Secondly, 240s are becoming more expensive too, so it'll likely be a valued car in the future, more so than modern ones. Having said that, new Audi parts are expensive and you need funding too. So whatever it is you do with the Audi, keep the 240 regardless.
Have an older model a4. Same motor I think. It’s a mechanical fuel pump. Uses a cam follower which is a plunger type pump. Replace the follower and O ring. Very common for it to wear out and make that sound on deceleration. It’s also fairly easy.
The rattle on decel sounds like a failed turbo waste-gate. I own a 2011 Audi A4 that I went through the process of rebuilding the motor for the common oil consumption problem (failed piston rings) as well as adding tons of mods etc (stage 2+ tune, exhaust, down pipe, intake, front mount inter cooler, lowering springs and much more). This journey educated me a lot on these cars and their problems, so let me know if you have any questions! Good luck lol.
Ah I jumped the gun. I cannot in good conscience tell you which to keep, but if it was me I'd keep the 240sx as it has that fun potential and seems to be endless in modding abilities. I had a MR2 that I gave up on for a newer car and still miss that damn thing. Audi can get expensive in my opinion.

That's a pretty tough call, I think it all depends on what you want to do with the car, I feel like your jeep is already your daily driver and the Audi could come in as a second daily. These tfsi engines are known for chain problems. I just read somewhere that the US had filed a lawsuit against the VAG concern and the VAG concern lost and had to repair all vehicles with this problem including swapping the engine, if it has taken damage. Dont know anything about Canada though, but it could be worth taking a look at. I found an article about it - hit me up if its worth digging in. :-)

I have 2 friends with a4s and that rattle sounds like the turbo but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the motor cause a lot of these did have those problems when they came from factory but my money is on the turbo

Hey man, I think the rattle maybe a warn timing chain. One thing you can do to test it is do a code scan and see if it’s got “random cylinder misfire” codes on it

Check the timing chain and timing chain tensioner, those are notorious for going and causing the pistons to hit the valves. Edit: sell the Audi it’s a money pit

Yep definitely, my 2011 a4 had the same rattle. Waste gate was totally worn...had to replace the turbo.
