They didnt have Monty Oum and had to learn....also, the reason why Ren talks more and is not as stoic from volume 2 onwards is because Monty's brother decided to honor his brother by being the voice of Lie Ren. Which is also one of the reasons why ren didnt speak too much, Monty was so busy directing and helping the animation team that he didnt had time to record too many lines
I like the small little nod to Seifer when Squall's in the background. Well, Seifer swings his sword wildly before planting it into the ground, but I like to think of it as a reference nonetheless

The voice just doesn't fit her face or character tbh, for example a similar character like Aerith in FF7R has a cheerful voice but... its so.. overly high pitched? Had her VA always used the deeper voice she has in sorceress mode than it'd be perfect, her usual voice here fits Selphie more lol

And I don't think the voice actress has anything to do with it, because her voice when Rinoa has the wings is great and she nails it with the interpretation. Its the direction that is not that great, or they wanted to follow too much the japanese counterpart with those annoying squeaky sounding anime characters. Winged Rinoa's pitch (and don't even need to be that low) with 10-year old Rinoa's energy may be the ideal for the base. Maybe they wanted to emphasize the contrast between both versions, so they should simply bring both voices down a little bit, so it doesn't make me want to smash my head into the wall when I hear Alvin The Chipmunk scream "Turn the tides, Leviathan" again. And, like some people said, it wouldn't work AT ALL on a FF8 remake for example, because freaking Selphie. Nunchaku girl would have to sound like a baby mosquito for the contrast to work.
The FF8 GFs don't appear in Dissidia. These are Dissidia versions of the main summons throughout the series. That's why Ramuh is the lightning summon and not Quezacotl or Ixion.
Whoever was responsible for casting her voice did an awful job. I've always imagined Rinoa's voice as playful yet mature. She just sounds way too childlike here.

I'm really not a fan of this Rinoa version. There is so much reference material from the amazing CGI in FF8 yet somehow they managed to make her completely different. This Rinoa's voice is way too squeky. The perfect Rinoa's voice i've heard was from a fan dub by Shudo Ranmaru but the YT channel died. I think the VA name was 'Scarlet'. Rinoa's voice there was way more toned down, upbeat but a little soft and a bit flirty which was very much how I envisioned Rinoa to sound like.

If i would have to describe i would have to say : 1.That THIS Dissidia version has WAY BIGGER (BALL Round) eyes of a deer, whereas FF8 Rinoa has a oval form (a slight asian touch), also smaller, and allthough she also can look like a deer, they also look sharp as a fox (?) 2. Dissidias Version head is bigger and she is also (bulkier?) and looks like a plastic doll... ps1 looks in some aspects more realistic LOL. 3. Damn on further inspection.. they dont even got the eye-color right.. Are you kidding me. Well im convinced that if or when they do a VIII Remake.. they will do a better job.. look how good everybody in VII is lookin. I hope so anyways.
It doesn't mean that the english version should sound exactly the same, different cultures have different perceptions of "upbeat". Some level of adaptation is needed, otherwise we would have western Goku sounding like a grandma.
