I think it has to do with his name meaning which is associated with storms, thunder and strong wind. People linked with storms and thunder are supposed to have 'deep, strong, thundering voice'. Even his Japanese voice actor had a deep voice though the tone was a bit different from the English voice actor.

Same junction system, battle like ff 7 remake but with more air combo (like devil may cry) and jobs system to have different ability for every one: example, Squall seed job Gunblader (dual wield this time) Zell seed job monk Irvine seed job sniper Etc etc It's a remake and ff8 part 2 in the same game
This game captured something the English translation of FF8 itself really didn't: Squall is a pragmatic badass. All his quotes here are just about him knowing he's here to do the job, and the job is kicking the crap out of you.

Well he is the darkest hero of Final Fantasy as the most rude, he was the lonely antihero to the totally heroic Warrior of Light reason for their fight in the first game as an example, and inadvertently ended up acting like he was the older brother of someone like Bartz who is supposed to be older, Squall suffers from the problem of many characters created in Japan that despite their look and behavior, the Japanese decide to give them much younger ages so that does not fit with them.
