Glad you finally got to read it. One of my all-time favorites, and also my introduction to the X-Men. If you want to read it on better paper it's in the second MU by Byrne omnibus.
Glad to see you got your mitts on this gem for review. I also heard that story about Byrne's remarks regarding Layton's inking over his work. Seemed a bit mean the way he put it unfortunately, and sadly it's become a bit of a battlescar that has followed this issue of the Hulk Annual. I actually thought Layton as an artist at his peak was one of the megastars at Marvel by the time he got around to doing Iron Man. Regardless of the drama, it's great that two icons of that era managed to put out an iconic issue.
Roger Stern wrote it so 95% chance it's a good story.
An excellent issue!
I always thought Layton was one of the best for Byrne.
A great Champions post-script!
Oh duh Champions!
A must-have...!! I bought this last year or the year before. This is a really good showcase of Byrne's art.....
I effing luv it
The Honey-Badger wasn't in this one?

You mean Iceman and Angel from the Champions 😆
I'm going to have to get this issue
It’s soooo good.
Easy to find in reprints, been collected at least 4 times already
