You should get into the Dr. Who from that era. Several of Byrne's FF stories are HIGHLY inspired by certain Dr. Who episodes. FF236, for instance, comes from a Who story involving a "mini-scope" with tiny people in it. The big invisible force-field in Avengers 233/FF256 comes from a famous Who story with the Silurians, an advanced race of sentient reptilians who lived on prehistoric Earth. And there are others.

The paper quality and color on this one looks really really good. I've never actually read these original Transformers comics even though I'm a big fan of Transformers (Beast Wars specifically). I'm headed to the comic shop today, I think I'll pick this one up because of your video. Love the art. Agree it seems very text heavy

its so bad, its good , lol. and the best transformers comic? not DWJ, it's "more than meets the eyes" by james roberts and alex milne, also the last stand of the wreckers... all by IDW, you can't go wrong with those.

Elementals was a great book! I was a big fan of Willingham from his art on Villains and Vigilants (which crossed over many characters with Elementals), so I grabbed it as soon as it came out. I'm am currently trying to recollect the entire series, since I stupidly sold them decades ago.

This was one of my favourite indy series back in the day. I think I own every singly Elemental comic published, with the exception of a few variant covers. Hopefully this will ship to Canada because I am super-interested!

Loved this book as a teen. Bill had previously published a few of the characters in an RPG (Villains & Vigilantes), and seeing them in a comic felt like playing in an old friend’s game. That it was a great comic helped, too. Commenting and sharing to boost the signal.

I didn't know about this.....will have to try to hunt these issues down. When I was a kid I watched Space Ghost, a grittier version of the original kiddy cartoon might be good. My other favorite was "The Herculoids". A comic of that could have some great possibilities.

Love this book!! I was afraid I missed the cut-off date for the pre-order but my LCS was able to get it for me and I'm so happy to have gotten it. So big and beautiful. Love the paper and color. Now I need to get the other one of these that came out recently, the Neal Adams Batman one. DC has been killing it with their facsimiles, they look so beautiful. I'm getting my missing Crisis on Infinite Earth issues and will complete my run this way. So much cheaper and they look just as nice.

Close on price, just looked at my issue of $2.50. I was 10 when this came out and it is just incredible. Neal Adams just turned the industry on it's head with his art style. What a loss oh a great artist.

Of these three, I think Wonder Woman’s emblem is the strongest, and I’ve got the least to say about it for that reason. Looks great. I never understood what Byrne was saying about the two fish haha, but I agree with you that the S shield from his era is iconic, and is the default I picture in my mind for the character. It’s always fun to see when someone can strip down the emblem and still make it sing, but I think the S shield in the cartoon My Adventures with Superman simplified the emblem more successfully than this one. Batman has the most ridiculous symbol in the bunch here, but I’m fine with it too. Like the TMNT, Batman’s world is unusually malleable and versatile, where the Adam West version is just as valid as Neal Adams, Kelley Jones, Frank Miller, or Michael Keaton. You can almost get away with anythng with the character, and I respect how far they pushed this symbol here. If anything maybe it should be even boxier. 🤔

i have seen 5 or more covers to this comic on ebay, i saw this as a very young child in the 80s and spent a lot of time looking at the one magazine i have of it, the hot chick begging the big reason. i forgot the name of it and could never find it untell now.

I stopped at a comic shop last month while my wife was at the dentist. I saw this issue and flipped through it. I haven't looked at an issue of SD since the late 90s. Damn, it has changed! Part of me wanted to buy it. Thanks for the feature here. Makes me want to look up some old issues and catch up.

The cover gives me hopes sexy comics are making a return. Ill stick to manga in the meantime.
