- John Byrne started his run on THE Avengers with issue #181 in 1979. He did not do the cover, just the interior art. George Perez also has notable covers. Let's take a look at all of the covers from this run and rank them.
We're using an A-F scale and then picking one comic from the A tier and crowning it the best with an S (special) tier designation. Every one of these is a masterpiece, but only one can be champion!

I'm not a big fan of "old" villains either(never liked Vulture), but I think it works great when it's a sorcerer/wizard character because they dont need much physicality. It makes sense that the older they are the more powerful they could be.
