Hi, today's video is a sound test using two JBL EON 715 and two JBL EON718S speakers with a CARDIOID Mode setup.

The equipment I used for this sound test:
1. Nikon D5600 DSLR - For live sound recording and the distance between the speaker and the camera is 12 feet long.

I never listen the cardiod concept , thanks for the vid .
It's generally used in larger installations such as mega concert setups for the purposes of reducing the bass bleed on the stage and boost it towards the audience to push it further. The most common setup is having 2 subs/columns oriented towards the public, spaced at about 1.5- 3 ft having a delay set between the back and the front group of subs based on the frequency you wish to boost and the distance between the said subs.
Hello, I would like to buy this subwoofer, but I hear from many places that the limit LED often switches on. I've never tried this sub before, so could you give me some tips and tricks about it? The sub would not be connected to its own eon speakers, but the signal would go from a mixing amplifier to the sub with my own passive speakers. But knowing this, what could I do in Jbl's application?😁

Limit LED Lights

This JBL EON718S subwoofer needs to be updated to the latest firmware to fix the LED limit issue.
Mixer Amplifier + Passive Speakers + JBL EON718S

Connect the mixer signal output (XLR cable) to the JBL EON718S subwoofer CH1/CH2 inputs. Open the JBL Pro Connect application and adjust the EQ to your preference. You can also try the preset EQs provided or create your own custom EQ.

To be honest, I haven't tried to compare EON718S and PRX818XLF. Because I don't have a PRX818XLF unless someone can lend me one for a while to do a sound test.
In technical terms, both have 1500-watt class-D amplifiers but differ slightly in Max SPL where the EON718S has a max SPL of 131dB while the PRX818XLF has a max SPL of 134dB.
The EON718S has several advantages, you can adjust the strength of the bass sound with the JBL Pro Connect app. One of the louder sounding EON718S I've tested and felt the bass pounding in my chest was setting up the subwoofer in CARDIOID mode. I don't know if the PRX818XLF can do that.

@@jblsoundbiz The prx 818xlf has a Very fragile woofer with 3inch voice coil. The eon 718 has a more durable woofer with 4 inch voice coil.
basically it's like just having a one punch combination instead of having two punching subs. This is like phasing on bridge except it is external just by reversing the speaker backward

Thanks, I have 2 EON 700. How do I connect them both in stereo without using a seperate mixer? Do I run an xlr cable from one EON Pass Thru to the other one by connecting the same xlr from passthru to channel 2 Input on the other Eon? Thank you
Hi, thanks for your comments. Yes, that's right, you can also connect the XLR cable L and R from the mixer output to the Speaker No.1 input (CH1 and CH2) and the PassThru to the Speaker No.2 input (CH1 or CH2).

Here is your answer.
Signal detection - The LED below the channel knob will flash yellow periodically to indicate a signal is present. For me, this is normal.
Bright Green LED - Normal Signal
Bright Yellow LED - Strong Signal
Bright Red LED - Clipping
It is good practice to always monitor your LED lights during your event especially when you play loud music.
