I know it would never happen, but I would love for our Guardian to begin a one-man crusade against the Hive at the end of Destiny. We have killed Oryx. We have killed Xivu Arath. We have killed Savathûn. And after all is said and done and the city is safe, the allies we’ve made over the years watch as our ship breaks Earth’s atmosphere one last time. We leave Sol, not through a Vex gate or some Hive portal, but in our own ship. And we take our fight to the Hive, to their War Moons, to every Thrall, Acolyte, Knight, Ogre, and Wizard. We are never heard from again, but the Hive are never seen in the Sol system thereafter.

I feel like Caiatl’s only hope for her people is peace with the Last City, and I think we’re going to see that pan out. Humans, Cabal, and Eliksni, all in the Last City as their gentle place ringed in spears. It won’t just be Humanity’s last city, but come the high water mark, all of civilizations.

Friendly Cabal units throughout the entire raid too, like a raid that is a massive war. We've never had that before. Imagine it. Like maybe even put fail conditions sort of like Phase one of reckoning, so you have to kill enemies quickly to progress... there's so much possibility there.
The devs said they're not doing anything like Forsaken again, and I think modeling a new planet for a raid falls under that category. Although, they made Europa, so maybe.

But he did withhold the extent of his knowledge when he first encountered the Guardian and subsequently established himself in Sol.

When Umun uttered: "You are war, and I conjure you with war and blood", I got the chills. Being familiar with the Books of Sorrow, it´s not hard to see why.
So I have a question about Chapter 5: New Gods. Savathûn says "Xivu Arath hear me, you are War, and I conjure you with War and Blood" right? The last time we heard language spefically like that was when Auryx conjured Savathûn with trickery and Xivu Arath with bloodshed after he killed them to gain thier power to destory the Amonite I beleive right? (Or was it the Ecumine? It was when he learned to Take and become Oryx no?) My question is this: We've heard next to nothing from Xivu Arath, then suddenly in Season of the Hunt, she shows up, not Warring, but Converting, Tricking...Seemingly working with or even for Savathûn. Was Xivu Arath dead? Is that why Savathûn sought out Nokris to learn Necromancy? To bring back Xivu Arath, binding this lesser god to her whim, and using her like blunt force trauma to damage our forces before she herself makes her big play? It's a long shot, but so so much doesn't add up between the last two seasons for me
There is something to your theory. Thing is, I dont remember when exactly, but at some point during Year 2 a bunch of Taken Hive Yellow Bars appeared, roaming around the Dreaming City, all wearing the suffix "son/daughter of Xivu Arath".

You see this lore is AMAZING but I'm just a little sad we don't get to see it in game like maybe a cutscene with torobatl in or maybe even getting to go torobatl itself I mean we don't even know what it looks like we got to see what Riis sort of looked like but yeah I'd love to see torobatl at some point
The Cabal were able to block out the light of our Traveller and Ghosts. So I wonder if it would be able to block out the Darkness in a similar way. If the Cabal managed to find a way to do that, tribute to Xivû Arath would be cut off and the hive probably would last that long without the Darkness of war feeding there worms.
If the Cabal trued to retake Torobatl on their own they would definitely fail but I’m willing to bet the other reason Caiatl wanted to come to our system was to recruit the only beings that have successfully fought off the Hive and even killed their leaders
This thought just occured to me but I think the darnkess' drive to push every living thing towards death is going to be its downfall, because it's driving everything to The Traveler and the guardians and more or less we are gaining more allies faster than we are gaining new enemies, The Darkness is forging its own defeat through its actions, and I think thats also why The Traveler hasn't ran yet, because it realizes that too
I think one of the big reasons why the Traveler didn't run away during the collapse as it did all those times before was because it finally realized it couldn't keep doing that forever.
Imagine if Eliksni or Cabal started to be revived as guardians. What if we had a situation like Star Trek: DS9, where three civilizations that cannot completely get along start coordinating against the common enemy? We have the seeds, but I would like to see something sprout.
There is a chance that Xivu Arath is following the Cabal to the sol system. Which means that Caiatl and the Guardians will face the same enemy. Which might give the Empress a chance in hell.

Again, this is terrific darkness lore. But reading about it will never not be a let down rather than playing it or seeing it in a cinematic of some sort.
This channel brings so much nostalgia. I’ve been watching for 6 years. I remember when lore was so hard to learn and I think that’s why destiny 1 didn’t have as good of a story.
Next season will most likely be us making an alliance with house light or something to do with alliances with eliksni becuase it’s about high time misraaks gets recognition he deserves, no doubt in my mind that he is the true kell of kells
I think the Cabal's chances against the Hive are the exact reason Caiatl sought out (and still seeks) the alliance with us. She knows she needs our powers to face Xivu Arath. Personally I'm hoping there'll be some kind of clever scheme Caiatl uses to try & get us to join her. It'd be a shame if we cut her down before she ever really gets that ball rolling. Would feel like just another villain-of-the-week situation despite the great buildup thus far.
So, I am left wondering if Umun'arath was somehow allied to Xivu Arath well before the mess started. I The source of my speculation is the ending of her name. It could be, since she was worried about the Hive before the coup, she took the name as her first step down the road of damnation. I guess it could be a happy accident.

Caiatl and her Cabal alone, no. Cabal and Guardians, maybe. Unless she attains some measure of paracausality, be that of Light or Darkness..or..some other as yet unknown paracausal power. She, as it stands, I'd say she doesn't stand a chance. Even then, say she attains that paracausal power. She'll lose her empire in taking down Xivu'arath. That's assuming she's at all successful. We need only look to our fight against Oryx, and the losses incurred then. Both to Crow, on the Moon, and the devastation in the rings of Saturn. We have no real idea of their "real" power. Glimpses of it, sure. The interference, and the Wrathborn. Feel like the top of the iceberg. Nevermind the scheme that is cooking in the dreaming city.
I think that Xivu Arath is the one that deceived Umun'arath. Remember "Warfare is based on deception". The part "A gift for my favorite sister" I think is a line where Xivu Arath delivered Umun'arath to Savathûn so that Umun'arath could be Taken!
I’m calling this right now, this is how it’s all going to play out: Xivu was killed and her power absorbed by Savathun after Oryx died. She uses a proxy Xivu to invade and sow destruction while corrupting those looking for a way to beat Xivu. In Hive culture and within Sword Logic that which is given has no worth, so I believe that Savathun did not give the Cabal homeworld to her sister, rather she uses Xivu as a patsy. The Cabal and the Guardians will come to a truce just like we have with some of the Fallen and we will kill a puppet Xivu in one of the DLCs and then Savathun in the Witch Queen.
Caiatl needs us, Guardians, to slay Xivu. But this is what Savathun wants- for us to kill her sister so she is the only one remaining. So Sava prods umun to be corrupted by xivu, giving xivu another civilization to destroy, forcing the cabal to flee to sol to seek the guardians. Though caiatl at first demands we join, she knows we won't and knows her people won't accept humanity as equals yet. So caiatl calls for tributes to join her war council knowing we will interfere and eliminate any potential usurpers to her reign. The battlegrounds are her evidence to show her people humanity must be allied with as equals. Ultimately though, Savathun is 5 steps ahead. She knows in one way shape or form, the interests of the guardians will come to align with the Cabal, and join to Killing her sister xivu. This will make Savathun the Supreme ruler of the Hive. I bet 5 bucks the raid in The Witch Queen will be to slay Xivu Arath. Leaving Savathun for Lightfalls conclusion.
Important not to forget that the Cabal are an Empire like no other we know of. They reached a height of power, all by themselves ( or annexing other races), but all of this was done WITHOUT the Traveler's or the Darkness. They got to where they are, without special powers, or terraforming of planetary scale. They are right to be a proud people for that. But against Hive and Taken combined, they will fall. That is an undisputed fact, that even Caiatl has accepted
I think the next few weeks of the story will be telling if the Cabal will survive as a race in the Destiny universe. It sounds as if the new strike in the land tank is part of this challenge Zavala has made to her. If we win and become the deciding force of the conflict with the Cabal could we possibly looking at the combined Vanguard / Eliksni / Cabal force against the might of the Hive, Vex, Taken, and Darkness? I'm still not 100% sure the Vex will truly side with the Darkness unless the Sol Divisive can somehow rewrite them all to their side.
Wow, now I *really* feel bad for Caiatl. To have your home world ravaged by the Hive is almost as bad as being ravaged by the Darkness directly, like Riis. On the same coin, you don't just walk into foreign territory and demand their government to "bow" after you just fled your own destruction. There is an issue of Pride that must be addressed.
I'm thinking that we're turning Xivu Arath in a Sword and Savathun into a hand cannon eventually n maybe kill another Worm god cuz we will get bored. As well as kill Crota again cuz their might be a chance that Savathun will bring Crota back probably(jus a theory)
Since the Guardians, Fallen(depends what drove the Traveler away from Riis) and Cabal have been screwed over by the Darkness. Do you think that the three races will unite against the Darkness in Lightfall?
I really do hope that this season ends in some form of alliance between cabal and Guardians. After the Eliksni from Europa fled to their Light-kell i think this is the obvious next step. The story is focusing hard on extinction level threats to Sol, and to just go "guardians won cause golfball of light in sky" would be terrible story telling. A common enemy, alliance, and in time perhaps adding Cabal and Eliksni as race choices for character creation sounds amazing.
There is a very obvious way for Caiatl to save her people: She has to arrange for the Guardians of Sol to do to Xivu Arath and Savathun what they allready did to Oryx. If Oryx can fall prey to the guns of a Guardian, then so can his sisters. With that cancerous, wretched hive of madness and villany that's called the Osmium Dynasty burned out, the Hive will be no more, as it will be shatterd into small thiefdoms run by low level ascendant hive who will fight amongst themselfes over the bones of the Osmium Dynasty, and Torobatl can be reclaimed with relative ease....
15:04 Caiatl doesn't have any delusions about her chances without some kind of counter for the Hive's magic. That's why she wanted the Guardians on her side in the first place. Also, Cabal technology has been shown to be capable of stripping away cosmic powers before. In conclusion, with the right tools, retaking Torobatl is difficult but not impossible.
Personally, I feel the cabal, in a straight military battle, are better than the hive in effectiveness. Unfortunately the hive are millions of years old, there’s countless of them, additionally the whole link to sword logic stuff makes it’s pretty unfair. I wonder, if we did ally with caiatl we could exterminate them. In reality, the cabal are very good soldiers. One skilled cabal could take down 10 or possibly more. Having the guardians to fight the more paracausal aspects.
Honestly if she could just put her honer to the side she could have an army of nearly immortal super solders charged by godlike powers, with one in particular that has slayed at least..... How many now? Id say... 2-3 gods? And at least 7 or more potentially galactic ending threats?

My thoughts, at the end of this season. Our Alliance with the Cabal will actually happen (we don’t have to bend the knee) And we will help the Cabal take back there home world
Caiatl knows she cannot beat the hive on cabal strength alone. Going to sol, as we have seen, has a motive behind simply reuniting her empire. She wants to fight paracausality with itself, with an army of lightbearers to assault Xivu’s warmoons. I would love the ruins of torobatl and a war moon to be future destinations in a DLC. We may see this as early as witch queen but I wouldn’t expect it so soon. Perhaps the fight with xivu will run parallel to Elsie bray’s dark future, just with the tables turned this time. A unified army of eliksni, cabal and guardian striking out against the hive. It’s even possible that either the eliksni or the cabal will be able to wield the light themselves by this point.
Only way that I can think of Cabal having a chance is if they can create, like they did for the Light, a distortion or shielding device against the Hive's magics. Maybe a trap that makes a soul incapable of returning to Ascended Realm after being killed in the physical? Never know what those Psions are capable of

But he did withhold the extent of his knowledge when he first encountered the Guardian and subsequently established himself in Sol.

So I have a question about Chapter 5: New Gods.
Savathûn says "Xivu Arath hear me, you are War, and I conjure you with War and Blood" right? The last time we heard language spefically like that was when Auryx conjured Savathûn with trickery and Xivu Arath with bloodshed after he killed them to gain thier power to destory the Amonite I beleive right? (Or was it the Ecumine? It was when he learned to Take and become Oryx no?)
My question is this: We've heard next to nothing from Xivu Arath, then suddenly in Season of the Hunt, she shows up, not Warring, but Converting, Tricking...Seemingly working with or even for Savathûn. Was Xivu Arath dead? Is that why Savathûn sought out Nokris to learn Necromancy? To bring back Xivu Arath, binding this lesser god to her whim, and using her like blunt force trauma to damage our forces before she herself makes her big play?
It's a long shot, but so so much doesn't add up between the last two seasons for me
There is something to your theory. Thing is, I dont remember when exactly, but at some point during Year 2 a bunch of Taken Hive Yellow Bars appeared, roaming around the Dreaming City, all wearing the suffix "son/daughter of Xivu Arath".

You see this lore is AMAZING but I'm just a little sad we don't get to see it in game like maybe a cutscene with torobatl in or maybe even getting to go torobatl itself I mean we don't even know what it looks like we got to see what Riis sort of looked like but yeah I'd love to see torobatl at some point
The Cabal were able to block out the light of our Traveller and Ghosts. So I wonder if it would be able to block out the Darkness in a similar way.
If the Cabal managed to find a way to do that, tribute to Xivû Arath would be cut off and the hive probably would last that long without the Darkness of war feeding there worms.
That Xivu Arath line gave me strong Smaug vibes.
If the Cabal trued to retake Torobatl on their own they would definitely fail but I’m willing to bet the other reason Caiatl wanted to come to our system was to recruit the only beings that have successfully fought off the Hive and even killed their leaders

This thought just occured to me but I think the darnkess' drive to push every living thing towards death is going to be its downfall, because it's driving everything to The Traveler and the guardians and more or less we are gaining more allies faster than we are gaining new enemies, The Darkness is forging its own defeat through its actions, and I think thats also why The Traveler hasn't ran yet, because it realizes that too
I think one of the big reasons why the Traveler didn't run away during the collapse as it did all those times before was because it finally realized it couldn't keep doing that forever.
Imagine if Eliksni or Cabal started to be revived as guardians. What if we had a situation like Star Trek: DS9, where three civilizations that cannot completely get along start coordinating against the common enemy? We have the seeds, but I would like to see something sprout.

Again, this is terrific darkness lore. But reading about it will never not be a let down rather than playing it or seeing it in a cinematic of some sort.
This has been the case since day 1 of Destiny. The lore is always infinitely more interesting than the story we get to play through.

I think the Cabal's chances against the Hive are the exact reason Caiatl sought out (and still seeks) the alliance with us. She knows she needs our powers to face Xivu Arath. Personally I'm hoping there'll be some kind of clever scheme Caiatl uses to try & get us to join her. It'd be a shame if we cut her down before she ever really gets that ball rolling. Would feel like just another villain-of-the-week situation despite the great buildup thus far.

So, I am left wondering if Umun'arath was somehow allied to Xivu Arath well before the mess started. I The source of my speculation is the ending of her name. It could be, since she was worried about the Hive before the coup, she took the name as her first step down the road of damnation.

Even then, say she attains that paracausal power. She'll lose her empire in taking down Xivu'arath. That's assuming she's at all successful.
We need only look to our fight against Oryx, and the losses incurred then. Both to Crow, on the Moon, and the devastation in the rings of Saturn.
We have no real idea of their "real" power. Glimpses of it, sure.

I think that Xivu Arath is the one that deceived Umun'arath. Remember "Warfare is based on deception". The part "A gift for my favorite sister" I think is a line where Xivu Arath delivered Umun'arath to Savathûn so that Umun'arath could be Taken!
I’m calling this right now, this is how it’s all going to play out:
Xivu was killed and her power absorbed by Savathun after Oryx died. She uses a proxy Xivu to invade and sow destruction while corrupting those looking for a way to beat Xivu. In Hive culture and within Sword Logic that which is given has no worth, so I believe that Savathun did not give the Cabal homeworld to her sister, rather she uses Xivu as a patsy. The Cabal and the Guardians will come to a truce just like we have with some of the Fallen and we will kill a puppet Xivu in one of the DLCs and then Savathun in the Witch Queen.
Caiatl needs us, Guardians, to slay Xivu. But this is what Savathun wants- for us to kill her sister so she is the only one remaining.
So Sava prods umun to be corrupted by xivu, giving xivu another civilization to destroy, forcing the cabal to flee to sol to seek the guardians. Though caiatl at first demands we join, she knows we won't and knows her people won't accept humanity as equals yet. So caiatl calls for tributes to join her war council knowing we will interfere and eliminate any potential usurpers to her reign. The battlegrounds are her evidence to show her people humanity must be allied with as equals.
Ultimately though, Savathun is 5 steps ahead. She knows in one way shape or form, the interests of the guardians will come to align with the Cabal, and join to Killing her sister xivu. This will make Savathun the Supreme ruler of the Hive.
I bet 5 bucks the raid in The Witch Queen will be to slay Xivu Arath. Leaving Savathun for Lightfalls conclusion.
Important not to forget that the Cabal are an Empire like no other we know of.
They reached a height of power, all by themselves ( or annexing other races), but all of this was done WITHOUT the Traveler's or the Darkness.
They got to where they are, without special powers, or terraforming of planetary scale.
They are right to be a proud people for that.
But against Hive and Taken combined, they will fall. That is an undisputed fact, that even Caiatl has accepted
I think the next few weeks of the story will be telling if the Cabal will survive as a race in the Destiny universe. It sounds as if the new strike in the land tank is part of this challenge Zavala has made to her. If we win and become the deciding force of the conflict with the Cabal could we possibly looking at the combined Vanguard / Eliksni / Cabal force against the might of the Hive, Vex, Taken, and Darkness? I'm still not 100% sure the Vex will truly side with the Darkness unless the Sol Divisive can somehow rewrite them all to their side.
Wow, now I *really* feel bad for Caiatl. To have your home world ravaged by the Hive is almost as bad as being ravaged by the Darkness directly, like Riis.
On the same coin, you don't just walk into foreign territory and demand their government to "bow" after you just fled your own destruction. There is an issue of Pride that must be addressed.
I'm thinking that we're turning Xivu Arath in a Sword and Savathun into a hand cannon eventually n maybe kill another Worm god cuz we will get bored. As well as kill Crota again cuz their might be a chance that Savathun will bring Crota back probably(jus a theory)
Since the Guardians, Fallen(depends what drove the Traveler away from Riis) and Cabal have been screwed over by the Darkness. Do you think that the three races will unite against the Darkness in Lightfall?
I really do hope that this season ends in some form of alliance between cabal and Guardians. After the Eliksni from Europa fled to their Light-kell i think this is the obvious next step. The story is focusing hard on extinction level threats to Sol, and to just go "guardians won cause golfball of light in sky" would be terrible story telling. A common enemy, alliance, and in time perhaps adding Cabal and Eliksni as race choices for character creation sounds amazing.
There is a very obvious way for Caiatl to save her people:
She has to arrange for the Guardians of Sol to do to Xivu Arath and Savathun what they allready did to Oryx.
If Oryx can fall prey to the guns of a Guardian, then so can his sisters.
With that cancerous, wretched hive of madness and villany that's called the Osmium Dynasty burned out, the Hive will be no more, as it will be shatterd into small thiefdoms run by low level ascendant hive who will fight amongst themselfes over the bones of the Osmium Dynasty, and Torobatl can be reclaimed with relative ease....
15:04 Caiatl doesn't have any delusions about her chances without some kind of counter for the Hive's magic. That's why she wanted the Guardians on her side in the first place. Also, Cabal technology has been shown to be capable of stripping away cosmic powers before. In conclusion, with the right tools, retaking Torobatl is difficult but not impossible.
Personally, I feel the cabal, in a straight military battle, are better than the hive in effectiveness. Unfortunately the hive are millions of years old, there’s countless of them, additionally the whole link to sword logic stuff makes it’s pretty unfair. I wonder, if we did ally with caiatl we could exterminate them. In reality, the cabal are very good soldiers. One skilled cabal could take down 10 or possibly more. Having the guardians to fight the more paracausal aspects.
Honestly if she could just put her honer to the side she could have an army of nearly immortal super solders charged by godlike powers, with one in particular that has slayed at least..... How many now? Id say... 2-3 gods? And at least 7 or more potentially galactic ending threats?

I remember reading a theory back in D1, "the Cabal and Fallen were originally allys, we don't see it because they're not on the same planets at once." 'Originally' as in like it was the original plan to Destiny. I've noticed they're going back to a lot of the original D1 concepts but I never thought they'd do this one again. Certainly not the theory "Cabal, Fallen, and Humanity will team up"
I think Zavala will make a counter offer and with the guardians help will take back their homeworld. Imo, the vex still dwarf the taken/hive. Any enemy with time travel capabilities surpasses anything.

Caiatl knows she cannot beat the hive on cabal strength alone. Going to sol, as we have seen, has a motive behind simply reuniting her empire. She wants to fight paracausality with itself, with an army of lightbearers to assault Xivu’s warmoons.
I would love the ruins of torobatl and a war moon to be future destinations in a DLC. We may see this as early as witch queen but I wouldn’t expect it so soon. Perhaps the fight with xivu will run parallel to Elsie bray’s dark future, just with the tables turned this time. A unified army of eliksni, cabal and guardian striking out against the hive. It’s even possible that either the eliksni or the cabal will be able to wield the light themselves by this point.
Only way that I can think of Cabal having a chance is if they can create, like they did for the Light, a distortion or shielding device against the Hive's magics. Maybe a trap that makes a soul incapable of returning to Ascended Realm after being killed in the physical? Never know what those Psions are capable of
