Nezarec just hating the Shadow Legion because they suck is hilarious and I'm here for that shit.
I find it so hilarious that it seems if the traveller didn’t tunnel vision on the witness it might’ve taken out a LOT of the pyramids bc that mf beam DEMOLISHED that thing, but no it pulled a call of duty and decided to shoot at the juggernaut instead
Well it wouldn't really matter if she took everything but the most important one out. If she had taken the Witness out then the rest would have been easy.

You know I gata admit Savathun was a true manace, She killed 1 Disciple trapped the original Disciple Rhulk and broke the Witnesses ankles she is hands down Favorite D2 Character.
Savathun is an absolute beast. When she inevitably comes back as a tenuous ally in Final Shape I'm gonna simp so hard for arthro mommy
@@mechamahou8467I would love if she becomes a vendor😂😂 I could imagine her and immaru arguing
I now understand that Nezarec is called the betrayer because Savathun framed him by stealing the Veil from the Witness and making it look like Nezarec did it. Very interesting.
She wasn't playing around.
Still don't understand that part, feels like he's lying. The witness wants to end suffering, and nez doesn't want it to end....
By that logic, he would be on the traveler's side.
@@SyIis all the Disciples's ideologies goes against the Witness
The Witness doesn't see the disciple more than just pawns
Calus revels in Destruction and Conquests while the Witness clearly has a disdain for it and gets angry at Calus
Rhulk believes all life should die because life itself is meaningless and suffering while the Witness believes Life Should exist but only the the strongest ones should live
And Nezarac who inflicts pain and suffering while the Witness wants to finish the pain and suffering of the universe
Witness is above all these petty ideologies of its disciples. they are nothing but pawns to her which Savathun and Eramis cleary knows
It only wants one thing and that is the Final Shape
@@SyIis Nezarec is just like guardians, a perfect fusion of light and dark.
But instead of being aligned with the light, he’s aligned with the dark. I really think that’s all there is to it.
@D’Angelo That doesn't make sense considering he only recently had any part of light touch him and was killed by us the moment he was rebirthed through light and dark.
And you say perfect fusion, but that's not right either. He gets rejected by both the light and dark, which is when we are allowed to damage him in the mechanics.
So, waaaaaaay before we were guardians is where I'm talking about him betraying the witness.
I sleep well knowing DookieBootyFartWater was there to crush Nezarec and protect Sol.

After hearing the monologue about “do you enjoy the screams of your enemies” it would’ve been interesting to see Fikrul (and the scorn) in the raid
Resurrected Nezarec is essentially like us. A hybrid of Light and Dark
7:06 Nezarec is basically calling the shadow legion blueberries lol
I wonder how'd he feel about Calus. LMAO
That "kaleidoscope" style light on the Traveller is also present in Savathun's Throne World. Noticed it today when I was just sparrowing around. Must be something to it. A connection or must have some sort of power or something
What if it wasn’t a piece of Nezarec that was on The Witness’ Pyramid? What if it was his scythe? As weird as that sounds, we’ve been reminded over and over that Darkness is all about consciousness, memories, and emotion. I’d wager that a weapon wielded by a monster like him that has destroyed countless worlds would have ample memories attached to it. So when those metaphysical imprints of Nezarec’s past slammed into the Traveler’s beam of Light, they were made manifest due to the Light being all about physicality. And thus, he was reborn in a new form, one that befits the Final God of Pain as he surely would like to be remembered.
Rhulk' glaive and Nezarec's scythe (a sword) should have been the raid exotics for these raids. I miss the time when raid exotics were actually tied to te bosses and told a story. Touch of malice made of Oryx's heart etc. These new exotics don't feel like they're connected to the raid in any way.
@@draccondracul2082 Well if you think about it, the exotic shotgun from Root of Nightmares is connected with the lore. Since it has both Stasis and Solar parts/dmg on it, it's like power of Light (Solar) + power of Darkness (Stasis), so it obviously refers to the beam of light shooted by the Traveller inside the ship (which ended in this fusion of Light and Dark on the weapon).
@@alexioa142 and we got that gun by doing what exactly? Don't get me wrong, I understand that it kind of matches the theme, the issue I have is that this weapon just appears in our hands. We don't take it from the boss, we don't make it ourselves from the parts of the boss etc. Why is this weapon there and how do we get it by killing this particular boss. These things are missing.
Although that sounds cool it’s basically confirmed that the witness found his bare head remaining and put it in the caramel
The whole aesthetic really reminds me of another game, remnant: from the ashes. Its main enemies, kinda like the hive in destiny are called the root and thee whole idea and vibe are really similar to this raid.
I just looked it up, and even one of the Google images has a character very similar looking to the warlock wielding what seems to be a freaking glaive....uh what!?

I played the game it is actually great but pretty short. They released a DLC for it at some point that explains the origin story. It's really interesting for a small game. But just like Destiny it would be hard to piece together if it wasn't for some legends on YT making full explanation videos about it.
I remember one area towards the end of it, close to the final boss, where you fight your way through the original lab where it all started and spread from. It's all overgrown, looks alot like RoN

For anyone who doesn't know Rhulk is not dead from Vow of the Disicple. Those branches pretty much put him in a healing, recovering state. Plus it has already been stated in lore that he is still alive. I'm hoping to see him come back bc in my opinion, he still is one of the best raid bosses, from design to his voice acting and his fight.
Where did you find this info
Nope, he is dead. I have his leg as an exotic gun to prove it 😂
He is dead bro, no healing mode, gone, dead, game over, kick the bucket, gone.

@@XxDeathxX509 from what fynch knows. Fynch is not a genius on the witness' inventions. The branches are healing the disciples, tjey cannot be killed from what us guardians know.
I just keep picturing Nezarec writing in a journal that is too small for his size 😂
Hello everyone I have a theory I would like to share just a fun theory but my theory is that the reason nezarec is probably seen as a god and worshipped by the psions is cause he was a great psion flayer before he ever met the witness and was seen as a warrior among he people and then when he met the witness, and when the witness gave him his powers of the dark he transformed as how you see him in the raid now, so what my theory is that the tormentor’s are psions are mutated darkness psions and here are some similarities between the psions and tormentors to back up my theory, first the psions use a attack which is a purple energy ball that goes through the ground and sends you upward doing damage, a tormentor use a attack which is a purple portal/ whirlwinds that come flying at you and knocks you upward and back just like the normal psion move but 10x stronger, another similarity is there meele attacks, a psion meele attack would hit you with a purple blast from the palm of their hands, a tormentors meele/grab is which they hold you in their and hands and hit with multiple purple blast coming out the palm of their hands. To finish this theory the tormentors we fight in a lightfall are chosen psions by Nezarec and gave them his power, hints as some of the tormentors name such as, imprints of Nezarec
No. The witness only had the head of nezerac. He got Put on a buffed tormentor body.
We have his pieces. All but the head. Eramis took it and brought at to the witness.
He asked in the raid if we happen to know who his body parts took cause He cant even track them down.
@@JeffreyAppSteam Well he was a disciple before he died during the collapse, I don't think what you stated contradicts with Zxy_Dxrk's theory. It still makes sense that Nezarec was a psion before he was a disciple
Except he predates their civilization most likely. And did the same to the Eliksni and to humanity for a time.
@@ThePlatinumMeta oh Yeah i didnt mean that to be not true but the second Part isnt
@@JeffreyAppSteam Just pointing out that Nezerac's head wasn't put on a tormentor body. The tormentor body literally grows from the head as we explore the raid. In the begining after the first encounter if you look inside the crystal you se the shoulders and parts of a torso attached to the the helmet. After we activate the root and return to the final encounter he has a full body in the crystal and burst out. It seems like light healing gave him that tormenter body.
In my opinion it is the tormentors that are copies of Nezerac not the other way around. The lore says that tormentors are a result of cooporation between the witness and cabal I see 2 ways this could be true. 1) Nezerac is from a lost species and the Tormentors are darkness enhanced cabal tech clones of him. 2) He was a "god thought" mega psion flayer harvesting power from other psions before being recruited by the witness and Tormentors are other psions inbued with parts of his power.

The root that goes through the capsule of Nezarec chamber looks awfully familiar of the murals inside Rhulks pyramid, how the root looks like a tree trunk then some sort of geometric branch.
I was wondering about this aswell. we seen that design before but what does it depict? Might this be hinting at the final shape... light (root) combined with darkness (nazarecs tomb) creates a new shape that is both geometric and organic looking?

“We both know you guardians can’t resist unanswered questions.”
Great video format, i've been looking for something like this for a while. Most raid related videos focus on mechanics which i don't care about since i'm generally so bored of playing the game at this point that i never have patience to level even a single character enough for higher level content to be playable. But i still follow the story somewhat and it's nice to see what the raid is about in general and hear all the voice lines and take a look at all the visuals.
Maybe during the beginning of season of the deep we’ll go to the witnesses pyramid and go into the planet room and bring back titan

If Nezarec was revived by the traveler, does that make the traveler his ghost? And him the first person to every be directly revived by the traveler?
Adding this to reasons why Rasputin should have just nuked the traveler
It’s possible he wasn’t revived as a Guardian in the traditional sense, but the Light’s ability to create matter rebuilt his body from the memories and emotions he caused.
Well, the traveller gives and creates life. It created the ghosts for some sort of self-defense. But no I wouldn't say the traveller is Nezarec's ghost lol.
Going back to the "flower game" aka IRL as Conways game of life.
@Gavo
It's interesting that besides his head, his form and even his previous corpse doesn't match what we see as him now. I wonder if that memory of him gave him a slightly different form.
The traveler shot it’s beam to make the tree of silver wings. One of the branches from the tree stabbed through one of the remains of nezarec, entombed in a vessel. Nezarec from beyond the grave used the root of this tree, fused with light energy, to revive himself
Savathun really put in some work over the years
the piece that the witness held was his head, im not sure why the rest of his body turned into a tormentor like body but he does mention that this body is limiting his power and if he had his normal body it would be over for us which is probably true
Got a recording of those voice lines?
Probably isn't true, this would assume he stronger then rhulk which is unlikely considering he got shit on by savathun and savathun couldn't do anything to rhulk
@@katalyst_ I think the reason savathun defeated nezarec is from her backstabbing him, I'm assuming the order of event went, savathun kills nez, then rhulk gets sent to her throne world to keep an eye on her, then savathun seals rhulk in his ship

Am I the only one to notice that one of the planets seen in the macrocosm is Io?, meaning we could be going back there soon.
The planets are very interesting. We basically know Titan is coming back at some point. Io should as well.
Asher is in the vex network so the groundwork is all there.
The planet room was (what I believe) to be the same room from the WQ cutscene that introduced the witness since this is the witness’s pyramid. This means it has all the planets in the sol system. I have not done the raid yet but I believe this is the case, if someone can confirm that’d be great
@@roar247 I’ve finished the encounter. The room has every plant and moon we’ve been to in the Sol system, including the Traveler.
Honestly, it really kills the stakes of the series when we keep killing these supposed god-like beings who were around for billions of years with mortal weapons. The wittness must really be on the travelers' level of power if it can just kill garudians and ghosts with a wisp of its hand.
Aren't the mechanics of every raid boss suppose to be the lore reason why they're taken down by ordinary weaponry?
All the way back the beginning:
"Guardians make their own fate."
Guardians can empower their weapons with light, that's why guardians have a chance against the Hive gods and disciples.
Well in this case his body had just been rebuilt by the energies of light and dark quite literally right before we fought him. He was incredibly weakened and we still had to use light and dark energy (a giant beam that starts the damage phase) to even be able to hurt him, honestly we got lucky here, and in rhulks case he was severely weakened by the light in savathuuns throneworld
Indeed, fynch even states that savathun placed a hefty light curse on rhulks pyramid, trapping him inside.
Guardians don’t just brute force their way to killing these gods.
We use every advantage we have and abuse weaknesses our enemies have + our paracausal nature.
Nezeracs eyes being all subclass colors except two is pretty cool tbh
So right now I'm spin-foiling, but I wanted to write it down before I forget. Nezarec mentioned the Veil holds "the sapid secret of [the Witness'] first victims." Sapid means 'having a strong, pleasant taste', and coupled with the phrasing of "victims", I would argue Nezarec is saying that the Veil is comprised of some fear/pain/loss of the first species the Witness sacrificed in its pursuit of the Final Shape.
Now, given that we also hear that Strand is a byproduct or 'trace' left from the Veil's creation or existence (not sure which, maybe both), and that Strand is 'The River of Souls' to the Neomuni, then it has to do with life force, similar to how Deepsight deals with memory and Stasis deals with entropy. Nezarec considers the Veil and its' creation to be "strongly pleasant tasting," which to him would mean it would have to do with something awful. So, SO --- If strand (a byproduct of the Veil) is related to life-force, and the Veil gives it off, and Nezarec likes it as one does a dessert....
The Veil may very well BE the remnants of that "first species" the Witness encountered (read: destroyed). Now when we take this interpretation, and couple it with the strange "veiled female figure" statues seen in various Pyramids (and Clarity Control), and the name "Veil" starts making more and more sense. These statues are, perhaps, remnants or effigies of this "first species" - one that must be truly ancient, since the Witness was already quite old when it came to claim the proto-Hive species.
Yikes.
Ok, but who is rufus, and why does his auto rifle slap?
So Savathun emprisoned Rhulk, kicked Nezarec and hided the Veil on Neptune.
Some say she just used us to retrieve her memory after she gained the light...
Could explain why the traveler gave it to her...

Considering how long it hasn't shown up, it's because it's unnecessary. Why, we know all the races and their accompanying variations within each. No one actually gives a crap about those distinctions because they aren't necessary to functionally enjoy what you're playing. Unlike traditional RPG titles which needs you to know which enemy to farm for what item to drop, Destiny drops are actually separated by the exact mission you're in, or locale you're on. Over world drops, specific type nightfall drops, so knowing the bestiary is absolutely pointless in this game.

The person affected from the relics was Mithrax remember? The animated cutscenes show him getting tormented as he tries to make neztea
Okay, now I need an ornament for Nezarec sin of his actual face.
My best guess is the witness pyramid ship must of had nezeracs heart or head in the tomb and the light blast mixed with the darkness and brought him back as a hybrid. I say heart/head cause that seems the most logical to bring him back and for the witness to keep and he probably took it before nezerac was chopped up
he probably had it stored on the statue of nezarec as well hence his quick revival
According to the hunter set, the Fallen actually AVOIDED taking anything from the head. The Captain in the loretabs says it was likely out of fear, and when he took an eye, it ended up causing him unbearable pain.
It's possible that during the Witness' attack, it sent some forces to the moon to recover whatever's left of Nezarec, and all that was left was the head.
Can't quite put my finger on it but something about the opening cut scene and nezzy laughing ominously was not as scary as intended. Maybe it has something to do with a guardian by the name of DookieBootyFartWater

@@theodorecyngiser2841 mykels family worshipped Nez since before the collapse. Where did you get all these amazing dynamic clips from the raid? Did you capture them yourself?
We will see nezarec definitely again in future dlc, he has multiple tombs apparently and cult that worship him, there is no way he is dead for good
How do you makes those clips from a low point or view or the orbit of the planets? Are really nice!
could you make a video abou the planets we see in that room in the raid? i recognized some of them but others seem completely new. i wonder if those planets are hints to where we are going next after the final shape. destiny 3 destinations perhaps?
Maybe Savathun wasn't so bad after all just misunderstood
I thought that we could see that final arena off in the distance
Are we sure he's REALLY gone for good this time, and we didn't just send his mind back into the VexNet or a Throne World or something? He was already killed during the collapse, and he still came back despite his original body being cut up (which reminds me that there could still be bits and pieces of him floating around). Hell, the Conditional Finality Loretab says that he's always welcomed and embraced death, implying that even that wasn't the first time he's been killed. And why would Savathun go as far as to curse his remains? Something tells me that this isn't the first time Nezzy's kicked the bucket, nor will it be the last.
Your probably right, Nezarec is like a cockroach
Great video, I can’t wait to see how more lore builds. I can’t even play the game cuz it’s been broken for weeks and I am excited to come back and see the expansion while recognizing the lore as it goes. Very intricate seasons ahead.
Nezarec's cool and all, but what happened to Xivu Arath? They were building her up all season of Seraph, and then I think there was one line of dialogue that said she fucked off after the warsat network was destroyed? She have somewhere better to be?

I love how the word scission means split and is specially used in the context of DNA **strands**
In the room before the first encounter there is a room on the opposite side of where you come in. I have no idea what to do in there

So speculate if one would add one disciple from the Hive with 3 eyes and one from the fallen with 4 eyes there would be left with 1-eyed and 5-eyed to have all 7 disciples (if there are 7) with each the amount of eyes from 1 to 7! is this to far fetched for a theorie?
So- do we know if Calus’s ship he takes to Neomuna is confirmed to be the Luna pyramid? We never see it fly out and it feels like a bigger deal if That Pyramid was taken, wouldn’t that mean nightmares on the moon went away?
Obviously he probably did take that pyramid and they don’t want to draw attention to it, making the Shadowkeep story null. But it’s still an unanswered question.
And as for the witness finding a piece of his body- when was that? Recently? Did a follower find a piece since season of arrivals?
I’m wondering if the traveler rezzing Nezarec was a 5d chess move for some yet-discovered reason. It doesn’t look like it hurt the witness any, so I wonder if the beam intended to resurrect Nezarec or the interaction of light and dark in the pyramid is more important than it seems.
Also, I bet the Explicator of Planets was a cabal from Mars he recruited to give guidance about Mars, Io, Titan, etc. Could be how he knew about the Bray center from the Spire dungeon
The Typhon imperator isn't the lunar pyramid
That would literally make no sense
@@lordferbus2970 yeah I agree, but where did Calus get his own ship? He literally uploaded his mind to it last we saw of him
@@pkmn7777777 Darkness powers
The Witness most likely made the Typhon Imperator
I really do hope this isn’t the last we see or hear of him. This is not enough payoff for years of buildup.
He didnt beam :D
What pierce through is an arrow, you can see on the far right of the "tumb" of Nezerec, an antenna like shape, from distance it really looks like a projectile.
Thank you so much for making these videos! I dropped Destiny quite a while ago and you are the best source I have to keep up-to-date on lore. After completely catching up, I've got to say, Destiny's lore it's such a huge mess and all over the place. Bungie has a really bad habit of answering people's questions with more questions until it becomes a huge confusing web of unanswered plot points where Savathun is always behind everything. All this buildup and DLCs, and we still know next to nothing about those pyramids and who the hell the Witness is. My prediction is after 5 DLCs or so, maybe just maybe Bungie will give us a crumb. Something tells me that after we solve this whole Traveler and Witness predicament we probably will take on The Nine next.
It's a shame that this is what Destiny has devolved into but I'm happy that people are at least having fun playing it.
Hey man, I really appreciate your work and I wish your videos had English subtitles so I could translate them into Portuguese.
Holy crap the planetarium is in the witch queen cutscene!
I love you channel nice vid👍
Hearing that Savathun is the one who killed Nezarec before makes me question why she didn't just tell Mara and the Guardians what she was up to. If she couldn't do it while she had her worm then I wonder why she couldn't do it after she had the light. A lot of fighting could have been avoided if she had.
When she became a guardian she lost all her memories and had to trick us into regaining some of her memories.
Who would trust the god of lies ?
One this I don´t understand is WHEN did Savathun killed Nezarec and where would be nice to know aswell. Do you know?
@Xetrus Gaming around the time of the collapse I guess
The second her worm was excised Mara sov tried to SHANK her. I don’t think we gave off a “talkative” vibe to her. She tried to reason with us during the witch queen campaign and our ghost yelled at her in a rage. She knew us as an ally wasn’t an option back then. Now that the guardians know what she was up to however the alliance with the hive might actually be possible
Great video bro keep up the great work 👍👍
That Mykel lore makes no sense, how is he interacting with these races and guardians if he's ancient.
Mykel isn't ancient.. his family line has worshipped Nezrac for generations.. he was just the latest. I think Evaze just misspoke
Last season three of the relic is look like nezarec eye but in case
i think with the unfo we gain during lightfall the gaurdian might be the one to help revive savathun ~🐱
Lmao, the Traveler got nervous and just went straight for the head
if the witness knew about the warlords then that pretty much confirms he transcends death
Ok but what the heck is the giant spear thingy going through the chamber Nez is in?
yet again the lore entries far exceed the actual story thats given to all players
Yeah I have more questions, like who would win a 1v1, Day 1 Rhulk or Day 1 Nezerac?
What if savathun looked at the destiny universe as a chess game and she is 17 moves ahead of everyone except Mara sov. Who herself is playing chess and is both smart and very strategic in how she plays her pieces and know that savathun will eventually come knocking. From the ending scene we are gonna be fighting inside the traveler for a final battle that could be very epic and awesome
