MET Trenta MIPS: new road bike helmet day!

- I feel ashamed to admit that I bought my sixth road cycling helmet! It's the white version of the MET Trenta I already had, in this case this model also comes with the MIPS liner to reduce the consequences of a crash.

For reference I'm 185cm tall, 87Kg and I wear M for summer jerseys, L for thermal jerseys and winter jackets, L for bibs, tights and gilets.

No need to apologize for doing yet another helmet review, Federico, we totally understand, I'm sure many of us have more than one. Cycling helmets can always look more stylish and be more comfortable than what we currently have.
I would actually love to see you do a review on one of the Rudy Project helmets in the future if possible.
I like the newer Rudy Project helmets, maybe in the future. They are popular in Italy, not so much in the UK.
I’ve had various MET & Giro helmets over the years but switched to a Uvex Race Boss and now a Race 7 which I find comfortable and well ventilated.
I crashed whilst wearing a Giro Atmos about 12 years ago, the helmet functioned correctly by compressing the side area on impact with the ground thus saving me from possible head injury or worse. You can easily buy another helmet.🤔

Lazer Genesis, feels fantastic, light and comfort but, just also because riding Flanders give you more prestige. Anywhere else, my second option it's the Met Trenta as well.
Agree, Lazer is a great choice. I had a cheaper one and the fit was perfect

I love the met manta for Winter. Bit of a game changer for our NZ Winter here. When pouring with rain no more sweat dripping into my eyes and riding with one eye open down steep windy descents frantically wiping my forehead lol. Like u I have the trenta as well. Didn't realise u were so tall. thought u were about 5ft9 prob due to ur muscular figure. I like that top too, so might have to get one for summer :)

I recently bought a Met Rivale and I'm blown away by how comfy it is. Don't know whether it's due to the Mips system or to my oval head shape
It looks like they have the perfect shape for my head and yours as well it seems!

I have not tried the MET helmets, but they are looking good. I currently have two Rudy Project helmets, which are very comfortable and nice designs too. They have a mesh inside to protect against scorpions and tarantulas getting inside the helmet, while cycling around Richmond Park. Keep up the good work Federico, I may see you about as I live in London too, near Twickenham rugby ground...

Protone is a classic, I like the Trenta more elongated shape
@@fede1275 Already tried Protone, in order to compare comfort and sweat management with the Trenta ? Mine is 6 years old and dying, but I love it.

Great review Federico. Just before the weekend started i purchased a Met Rivale Mips. I had to buy a new one because i crashed my Lazer Mips helmet. The Rivale weighs 248 gram. I got me the red metallic one.
Nice one, the Rivale is also a very nice helmet, looks like a more open Manta.

Very nice new Met helmet you have, it looks good in white. Unfortunately though Met helmets don't work for my head shape.
It was a new helmet day for me as well today. I took delivery of the newly updated Trek Velocis helmet in the white and navy colour.
The fit of my new helmet is perfect for my head shape, it feels very comfortable to wear and feels very light too. It's now my favourite helmet.
The new Velocis looks great and it is much lighter, they did a great job!
What headshape do you have? I have a round head like most Asians so it's hard for me to find helmets.

For the longest time I wanted the 3K carbon version of the Trenta but it was out of stock for AGES, like over year! I ended buying the POC Ventral Air all-white and love it. A month after I got the POC I finally got an email saying the new 2023 Trenta 3K was now in stock 😑 If I had money to burn I'd buy the Trenta now. Sad.
I could not justify the extra for the 3K carbon version. I liked the Ventral Air, but that was always more money for some reasons.

I had the old Trenta no-mips in full white and I replaced it with the new 3k Trenta Mips white - fade silver gray

I kind of feel ya with the versions on helmets. It's gotta match it has to be right, otherwise the smile is less, and gotta smile. So yes I feel this...I can imagine you even want a 7th ;)

I have the POC Octal and POC Omne...I love POC helmets 👌🏻
I like my Octal, super light and ventilation is the best. I feel the Trenta is more aero and has got a nicer shape.
I only have three helmets. Had not thought of different seasons as an excuse (sorry, rationale) to buy more! Winter helmets to mirror winter bikes, I guess. 😂 Awesome video.

I feel better about having 3 helmets ;-) I've been very pleased with Kask as the fit is perfect for my shaped head. I like the MET, looks good on you

I just ordered a Trenta MIPS, if I don’t like it I’m coming after you. Sadly my helmet madness is similar to my watch madness. Totally understand why you have 6 helmets.

Just wondering if you have try the Kask Protone (semi aero like Trenta) or Valegro (summer/hot 🌡️)? It's perfect for oval head like my too 👍
And by the way, I love the Italian🇮🇹❤ design & fit/comfy👌 so my 3 latest helmets was KASK Valegro, Protone and now MET Trenta Mips 😎
I tried the Protone and the Valegro in the shop, nice helmets, but for some reason it wasn't love at first sight like with the MET. I now use only Trenta or Manta.

Hello. Thanks for the video. No problem with straight glasses temples ends ? No "mushroom look" on the head ? (which I have with the Velocis and all POC helmets) What about the sweat management, please ?
No problems with my glasses, Siroko K3. The Trenta is very low volume, definitely one of the less mushroomy looking helmet out there.

Federico, if I may ask, what is your head size? Mine is 59 and I have the Trenta in M, I'm not shure if L would be better in the end. The M fits fine but at the loosest setting.
Hi, I'm measuring between 57 and 58, so I'm fitting right in M size. However with a skull cap in the winter I'm also close to the end of the ratchet

I had a MET Liquigas team helmet to go with the team kit, which I thought was awesome quality, and "Made in Italy", too.
Unfortunately, I bought the Trenta carbon, a few years back, only to open box, and spot that the quality was not the same!
For £235, I expect it to be "Made in Italy", but they moved manufacturing to China!!!
It was sent straight back for a refund!
All my helmets are "Made in Italy", with KASK the brand of choice.
I have just ordered a new carbon rail option Selle SMP saddle, which UK don't stock, so contacted Distributor direct to order one,
and do a deal on best price!
I'm getting into ALE Italian clothing, as they go to 4XL/5XL size, although you have to shop around to try to find certain kit/colours!
My main brands are Spanish Etxeondo, and Santini.
I recently completed my search for Marco Pantani Mercatone Uno kit from 1998(I have most of 1996/97, too!), with the socks & mitts
being found in Bologna, from someone who had loads of team kit from 1996-2001(although not cheap!).
Yes, unfortunately it's not easy to find genuine Made in Italy products. I like the MET Manta and Trenta for the fit, design and weight, the materials seem standard for all brands nowadays. Even Kask, I believe they mean just the leather strap it's made in Italy, but I might be wrong. Clothing as well it's often outsourced
@@fede1275 @pantani9886 That's interesting. I assumed they were at least made in the EU. I had both a Trenta and a Rivale in my shopping cart, and was debating which to order, but after reading your comments I did some research and turns out they are both made in China. Then I found out that Abus makes their Gamechanger, Powerdome and Airbreaker helmets in Italy, and they look nice, so I'm getting one of those instead. The ways of the internet...
Hi, do you have a trenta does not tan your head, because I have always ridden with a Cup, and now I want without, but I have bald spots, and I would like to clarify, on a sunny day, how does it feel?
If you are bald it's inevitable to have tan lines through the helmet vents. Might need to use sun cream more often

I am happy to see that your helmets are not fighting anymore. I still believe that your previous addition to your helmet family was pushed from the table by the others.
Since Trenta really means 30, I guess the solution is simple. You will be buying 30 helmets ultimately.

My Bontrager Circuit MIPS helmet is 290 grams. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to sleep tonight knowing that I could be saving 40 grams. That’s a 13.5 % savings. I guess I’ll just have to go sockless now. 😎

Just bought the trenta today. My first helmet that has a sunglasses port. But when i put my glasses in the port, the legs are pressing in my skull. Does it sounds familiar for you?
Hi, I would say it can happen depending on the shape of the legs. Ideally you want not to push them too much inside and rely on the side pressure from the glasses legs to hold them on to the helmet

I would say oval. I believe I have an oval shaped head and it fits me perfectly

I need a new helmet and am considering the Trenta, as it seems to be a good fit for more oval/long head shapes.

Also, how does the padding hold up? On my current helmets, the pads are basically disintegrating after a few years...
Yes, I really like the Trenta, I have both MIPS and non MIPS versions and the fit is great for oval heads. Looks amazing as well and it seems very efficient in the wind. My head is 57cm, so right in the M size. It is a bit tight with a skull cap, but still comfortable. The padding is standard and will wear out especially if you wash it too aggressively. I have on one helmet the gel front pad, but not as comfortable as I thought and reduces the width.
For all around use, what do you think: Manta MIPS or Trenta MiPs?
I have both and I use the Manta more in the winter and when it rains. The Trenta in better weather. If I only had one maybe the Trenta.

How is the ventilation in comparison to the Trenta? Is it okay for hot days in summer?
@@faridvanderlan9833 the Manta is quite closed, ventilation happens when you ride fast. Would not be the best for hot days. The Trenta is better as more vented. However for hot days POC are the best, but bigger volume on your head.
i have the same headshape but my problem is 58,5cm circumference and mets sizing is 56-58 and 59-61 :/ so i have to stick to giro or look like a mushroom :D

My Trenta 3k carbon looks good. Unfortunately the padding deteriorated fairly quickly and came apart. I contacted MET and they said that was normal. Haha! I have helmets 20 years old where the padding is still good.
I will not buy any MET helmets in the future and can not recommend them.
Btw their customer service sucks!
Yes, pads are not that durable, but not much worse than other helmets I had. Which ones have lasted 20 years?
