    I'll be at Gen Con Indy 2024 this week, so find me there! Are there any other question you have about what it might be like to come from a noble family in the Realms? :}
    Thank you so much for supporting my ability to create new Realmslore and more, for this channel and beyond!: patreon.com/EdGreenwood

      Mr. Greenwood, I wish you luck, safety, and entertainment on your trip to Gen Con! I wish I could go but I can't this time. Maybe you can put up some footage of your time there soon?

    Mr. Greenwood, I just wanted to say, that as one of the original creators of Faerun (before it was turned into a WOTC IP) you will always have my admiration for the depth and integrity of your creative vision. I grew up enjoying your storytelling, and I think that you have a personal relationship with the brand that other creators can't claim.
    Of all "dungeon-tubers" out there, you are the only one who is actually talking about *your own work* when you discuss the Forgotten Realms. For that reason, I see your videos as unique, and thank you for them.

    Thanks, Ed Boss! I'm a herald in the SCA and I regularly struggle with NOT making heraldry for various characters, places, etc... Now I have more rules to play around with! :D

    Mr. Greenwood, I didn't realize I needed to know about Sembain Heralds before. I remembered when i looked into my own IRL family history is that I did find that my own Ancestors came from a landed nobles who had their own family crest. I am happy to find that out.

    When I was interested in the SCa, I created a cochineal merchant from Wroclaw, named Bezhta. Azure, a lobster, gules.
    Wroclaw Bezhta.

    Behold my robust spice cabinet within my kitchen! Who would possess such wealth but I, the newest noble in Sembia! My crest shall be a fluffy white cat wearing a chef hat, a spice mill in one paw, a vorpal carving knife in the other and a purple shield in the background decorated by copper catnip leaves.

    Sembia is a personal favorite setting. The pomp and circumstance was so front-and-center it's fun for rough and tumble characters to find their way there and have to navigate social circles.

    Sembia seems like a fun place in the realm to try and get rich quick

      or be a noble quick, if already rich. Then you can get richer.

      Not really, unless the players are exceptionally clever or the DM coddles them. It is a merchants realm where money talks and trade is a way of life.
      Keep in mind, it absorbed Moondale and is similar to Cormyr in development, though based on wealth and trade rather than law and doing the right thing.

    I have a question, what title and heraldry would you give to a wizard who recently taken over for his mother, she is stepping down after the death of his oldest remaining brother in the war. We are talking about someone who the king's youngest son was so impressed with the way he handled the whole orc and goblin invasion that he gave up land that was his to him and his mother, expanding her domain by 6 hex grids to the sea. While the prince took over 6 hex grids of Marshal's land, in attempt to bring stability to the realm, more than take land away from his fellow player the dude. And Marshal knows it and he agrees with him.
    I'm somehow seeing his heraldry being a reflection of the HUGE tower he wants to build on a rock island in not in the center of a river and it is close to the edge of a waterfall.

    I wonder, does this apply to the Dalelands, as a neighbor of Sembia? Or since nobles and centralized government aren't such a big deal in the Dales, so they hold less import to familial arms & heraldry?

    • @craigtucker1290
      @craigtucker1290 2 місяці тому +1

      The dales all have their own badges, even the several lost dales, with one of the lost dales being absorbed into Sembia. Each dale has its own views on what is important with some wanting to be like Sembia and Cormyr while other dales place less importance on such things. You should check out his video on Daggerdale.
      Some of the older edition material had quite a bit of detail on these subjects.

      @@craigtucker1290 oh I know the individual Dales do, I was speaking more to noble families within the Dales

    • @craigtucker1290
      @craigtucker1290 2 місяці тому +2

      @@SoakedNDnotSorry There aren't that many "noble families", though there are a few, like the Morns of Daggerdale. Some Dales are very democratic, some are very rural, only a few Dales are haughty enough to have "nobility" akin to Sembia. One would have to consult the older lore and source material, unless Ed discusses the topic of nobility in the Dales as of the current edition.
      Some information can be found in the older older sourcebooks that do make some references.
