AMPSAMPS WT4 w/Signal Corps 8” Speaker Cab

Hello! Thanks for checking out the AMPSAMPS UA-cam channel.
This video features my four watt WT4 amplifier, this time with a Signal Corps. 8" speaker cab loaded with a vintage Rola alnico speaker (from the same Hammond M-100 organ the original amplifier chassis came from!)
The WT4 is a Class A single-ended amp that features a single EL84 in the power section and a 12AX7 preamp. EZ81 rectifier tube. Single volume control, high impedance input, treble/none/bass boost three way way toggle, speaker out.
The inspiration for this amp was the Moviola URS & Ediquip 1027a squawk box amps. The Moviolas are awesome, but not quite loud enough for me. So I studied the Moviola circuit, as well as the front end of my favorite Valco low-wattage combo amps, increased the voltage and the size of the output transformer, and swapped the 6AQ5 for an EL84.
I completely gutted and rewired the Hammond AO-44 reverb amp chassis for this build & used quality components and thoughtful lead dress for great tone and low noise. Housed it in an ammo can Filmosound style.
This amp is perfect for at home jams and huge sounding recording tones without the large-format volume. Another cool thing about these single-ended amps is the ability to easily try out your entire stash of 12A_7 tubes and EL84s both for function and for tone! Put in a 12AU7 and hook up your iPhone for a classic mono tube audio experience… I have done a number of these over the years, most notably for Joe Cardamone of the Icarus Line.
