Lol these are all the Augs that i thought were unnecessary...Never used any of them the first time i played the game. Icarus is the one i deactivated instantly. The ones i used were: 1: Smart Vision - You can pretty much see all secrets/enemies/loot etc. 2: Remote Hacking - Allows you to get past almost all security, lasers, cameras, turrets and so on. 3: Glass Shield Cloaking - Used it some times, it can be very useful for getting past enemies that are camping an entrance.
I picked the Tesla late in the game, and I regreted not picking it earlier. Granted, the basic aug is not much better than the stun gun, but once upgraded being able to knock out 4 targets at once is priceless. Instead, I wasted valuable praxis on the Titan, which may be great for a trigger happy approach but is useless when going stealth
Agreed! With the exception of the remote hacking aug, the new "experimental" augs didn't seem all that necessary. Moreover, part of their basic functionality could be replicated crudely using some of the weapons (i.e. the stun gun), or various items/grenades. The bullet-time aug (I forget it's real name) was actually pretty fun when lining up several sniper shots quickly, but I didn't feel like it was absolutely necessary. Remote hacking was definitely life-changing, in the same way as leg/high jump was (i.e. for exploration, stealth, and overall control of the game space). And the minor XP you get from remote hacking everything adds up quickly. Probably earned me 1 or 2 entire praxis points just with remote hack alone. My short list would be smart vision, leg augment/high jump, remote hacking, cloaking, and the hacking augs.
The Deus Ex series. The games where us 80s kids get to play a serious Inspector Gadget who wasn't an idiot and it didn't cost a million dollars to be that man - in a suitcase. A Smart idea.
I like how just micro-assembler and nanoblades is basically a complete build all by itself, destroys humans, robots, locked doors, never need to shop for ammo as everything metal just breaks down into more nanoblades.
Lmao I've never seen the animation where the enemy punches his friend from Adam dodging his haymaker 😂 that's awesome. also damn I love the nano blade I had NO idea it can just blow down doors. That literally skips so many hackings. One thing I discovered was also when you are remote hacking something and you find a really fine line you can't seem to hit you can use nuke software and it will automatically pass it so instead of trying to time 2 very thin lines when ur in a rush u can use 2 nuke softwares real fast. I find em more useful here than hacking doors honestly
Only 5 and 3 are must have augs. 4, 2, and 1 are just "cool" augs that aren't necessary. The augs that are must have are hacking, jump mod, lift heavier things, and rebreather which give you access to 100% of the map otherwise have fun going one mandatory path and being locked out from 50% of the map because you can't access it with the requirements.
Jump mod used to be a must for me, but Icarus Dash pretty much replaced it, at 4:49 you can see me trying to make a jump with the jump aug, but i'm only able to make it up there with Icarus Dash. Downside is it uses energy, but it has many other uses including non lethal takedowns, definitely worth trying it if you haven't tested it out yet.
HollatotheBalla 50% of the map? Like which areas? I always find a valve to shut off the gas in gas filled rooms, so I never saw a need for the rebreather. There's usually always at least two ways to get into an area of the map.
50% of ventilation ducts, but yeah you are right. The fact is that all of us have different ways to play deus ex, this guy (for the clips I see) like to go straight on maps and in this case tesla and nanoblade are must have
Why do you think he looks to have like 2% body fat (on the 10% of his body that's not augments). It says in the game that the energy to recharge the batteries and run the augments is provided by breaking down body fat and the like to convert it to energy. I bet he jumps off buildings to do the landing then does the dash back to the top to do it again and calls it his "diet plan" lol.
Dash was soo good, I like it better than jump as it works both vertical and horizontal. Dash or Icarus landing into Typhoon was also a great feeling move
Icarus Dash is a direct upgrade on the jump, allows you to access places the jump can't. I loved the fact you could use it to dash into cover or even enemies.
The Tesla feels almost over-powered ... like you're using a cheat. If this game is played on the "I never asked for this" *permadeath* mode, then even silly things like Icarus Landing System matter *a lot.* I was playing on Permadeath, and I left Koller's hideout through the sewer, and after I climbed to the top of the ladder I fell right back down and died. The next time I played, I definitely activated Icarus. Also, little things like improving bullet-resistance *really* matter on a Perma-death game. On Permadeath, you get really, really sneaky ... and then if you screw up and get spotted, then you get super aggressive since you can't take much damage at all, and dying is a *big* deal.
MicroAssembler turned the game easy. Just turn dead enemy weapons into crafting parts and load up on biocells. just dont disassemble your guns lol. Peps is very useful when upgraded to the beam. The slowed time ability is fun for combat players. But my favorite is by far the klipspringer jump. so much exploration is made easier with it!
Thx and it's a nice idea, Top 3 Prosthetic Tools or something. No one will watch it though sadly, my vids don't really get views nowadays, so i just cover the stuff i'd be doing anyway like stealth or things like this: ua-cam.com/video/vs868yBW4Y4/v-deo.html
I just started playing this game and had I known I'd be spending half my time just hacking stuff in order to get on with anything I would have spent all my praxis on hacking!
Here's some quick tips to make hacking much easier: ua-cam.com/video/JAvjq_2s0BY/v-deo.html Honestly once you get used to it the hacking becomes really fun.
It's been a while, but i'm pretty sure you press L2/Aim while having no weapons equipped. It acts as a zoom when walking around normally and not in cover.
I will say the Tesla seems like a good addition. The rest... not my style of game play. I like to Metal gear solid in this game. You usually find me in a vent. lol Nice to know what those augs do now, I've not tried them.
I'm super late but fuck it All the augs are fun and good dependent on your place style and how often you plan on using them the some people might not ever need any of the stealth augs some people might not ever need any of the combat augs hell Some people might not ever need any of the regular hacking augs because they multi tool everything and then there's people that use all the augs and just swap in-and-out whenever they feel like it
Wish Icarus landing didnt break first person camera. Its kinda immersion breaking for me to enter a cutscene at every drop. Also the animation starts like half a second late and then shoes you falling again from the top.
Been such a long time since i played, but i'm pretty sure it's part of a side mission, you have to go back to your apartment to get something/meet someone and then these guy ambush you.
Koller gives an upgrade about mid-way through the game that stops overheat (only the experimental augs cause overheat). So you can get all the augs, but iirc you won't have enough praxis/xp to get every aug till NG+. I've done a vid on what happens when you go max overheat and where to get a load of hidden praxis kits early that might be of interest too.
@ImmersionMode ooh thank you, i just recently started this game so i have no idea about anything, this helps thank you so much! im currently at the part where Rucker dies and you have to escape his office, I'm on "give me a challenge" difficulty and it's so hard 💔 I can't get past it
@ Ah cool you should be able to get the upgrade from Koller very soon, do his side quest once you've escaped. There's an easy route above the enemies for the Rucker escape.
@ImmersionMode oh I'll have to look when i get back on, it's hard because I keep running out of ammo, I'm always having so little of that, and they enemies just do way too much damage
Both are really useful for multi takedowns Reflex can do up to 3 if they are close 2:23 and Tesla can take out 4 even if they are spread out and can set up a mech unit for a takedown 1:29
I love how seamlessly you show the next aug just seconds after the previous one
Wow, Icarus Dash seems a lot more useful than I expected. I'll need to get that.
Why sprint when you can dash

Yeah

You can also use multi-tools to skip the hacking minigame altogether.
That last clip. "I'm ready."
The one that I think is absolutely necessary is the smart vision aug
That Falcon Punch bruh. xD But the Nanoblades are fucking awesome.
I don't know about must have - most of these are flashy but ultimately easily supplemented with weapons and a stealthy approach.
Very true, none of the augs are necessary, you don't even need weapons tbh, shameless plug: ua-cam.com/video/X402bDtsI70/v-deo.html
That's true, but also they're fun to use

Canonically how many times do you think Jensen uses the icarus landing system for funsies. #fuckstairs

About 20 feet tall
Every single time if it were me i would dive off stairs like a pro diver arms out and all then land with it
lol, after I got the Icarus Dash, I don't even bother climbing stairs anymore.....teleport and grab ledges for the win!
Icarus dash can also be used like icarus landing system
I just realized that tesla is so op.....
Huh. TESLA seems... game breaking.
DGneoseeker1 one prong at a time that you have to aim precisely would be cool, but then why not just use a stungun? Totally redundant OP Aug, 0/10
Apparently the stungun doesn't stun robots while the TESLA does.
So it's even more ridiculous.
DGneoseeker1 Yea stun gun stuns them just shorter
Stun gun stuns robots fine.
Really? I think the description in game says it doesn't stun robots. Or maybe it was a wiki page?
humans, drones, camera, laser grids, best power was glass shield as it handled them all with ease
I love the Tesla aug, having a few people shout in pain at once is somehow funny
Tesla was great as rooms of enemies sitting down was always a big pain in human revolution to handle
my must have augs were always dmg reduction, cloak, immunities (emp, flash and gas) and pretty much all arm upgrades
Rape at the end.
womankind divided........
I was about to say that
It's great how you can replay on the "+New Game " mode with your augs from previous play.
The Tesla feels almost over-powered ... like you're using a cheat.

Icarus Dash be like: "Now you're playing Dishonored"
Tesla will only work if you have the surprise element. When the enemy is in cover, it gets pretty annoying. The nanoblade is OP asf.
My top 5 are the Icarus landing system, remote hack, smart vision, cloak and the reflex booster.
Experimental reflex booster or basic?
"like that even hurts"
I'm glad they fastened icarus landing animations
MicroAssembler turned the game easy. Just turn dead enemy weapons into crafting parts and load up on biocells. just dont disassemble your guns lol.

5:48 *Dominance: asserted*
They legs be looking like MacDonald's French Fries that got left out. When you hit them with that Haduken lol.
For me it was cloaking, icarus landing system, remote hacking, upgraded energy cells and reflex
i never used an ability. All I need was only a stun gun.

Honestly once you get used to it the hacking becomes really fun.
Am I the only one who uses the PEP Cannon?
Ethan Orozco no
Ethan Orozco I use it too, but I used it in a very few circumstances
I never really saw the time to use it. If I go non-lethal, I go stealthy.
I never used any of those...now feeling dumb...they are more useful than the names suggest
nano blades love them.
Cool vid

Wow now I gotta play the game again.
2:15-2:18 How did you get Jensen to peek over cover? I have never been able to replicate that move/mechanic before?

Just like Dishonored
Tesla, Smart vision,Reflex booster, remote Hacking and cloaking make the game easy to beat.
The old game augmentations are more than enough in my estimation.
Nano + recycler = most busted combo
Lol. Top 5. Number 5 was augment i literally wanted to have only once in the entire game, other time i was perfectly fine without it
For me its cloaking, remote hacking, hacking, legs and battery charge speed
What was that event happening at 3:20? Never happen to me in 5 playthroughs :D

Part of a POI mission starting in the second Prague segment of the game
Only Icarus/L/S/, all the rest of the list is absolutely optional.
can you have all of them activated at once? or will it cause to overheat?
