Hi ursa, just wanted to share that today I finally got my first win on level 10!!! (babylon, science vic, large map, 12 players, Pangaea, barb and monopolies mod)
As someone who also has thousands of hours in this game, I agree with your assessment of your skill level. The few games on the modded difficulties I've played have been part opposites of what you've shown us!
*Oh, this is awesome!!!! I;d much rather see you struggle and win like 1 out of 20 games than win every time! This is much more entertaining! please play SId Mier EVERY GAME! can;t wait for the next episode now! Not been this hyped for your videos for a while! Cheers Ursy, I mean that in a non negative way lol* สันกำแพง
happy you're back! i recently got a friend onto civ and sent him all your videos to get him used to the game lol we're playing together and it's so much fun
Wow!!! I am just mastering prince and about to move up 1 more level. Of course, I have a Fallout 4 and the Original Baldur's Gates series addictions that slow me down. Awesome, totally enjoy your fun!
I've been playing on Transcendent difficulty myself, and find the AI to generally be much more competent than before in it's decision making. Good fun!
Hey Ursa. You are truly one of the best Civ players I have seen on UA-cam. And I really look at a lot of them. I've only played a few games on Deity. And I was running on my gums. (that's what we say here in Germany). And now you're rocking on the "Sid Meier" difficulty level... Holy f*cking cow. Please keep it up. Best regards from Berlin.
This start has given you a very strong fighting chance. I don't think the next game you play will start so peacefully (maybe impossible if you have Gaul as a neighbour)
I think this will be the first save file I actually use from discord😅. Being freesome, lots of giga campuses, lots of pastures, 3 cs, and personally, I love Australia.
Leaving this comment before the game starts and before I watch how it all plays out. I get challenging yourself, however I also feel there is such a thing as making something difficult enough that it removes the fun from it. Also, I've suggested this before but never got to see you do it. I think you should make a series where you do the opposite and play on the easiest difficulty. Showcase the difference. I get its probably be a quick series, but it'd be good to get a real comparison.
Hey Ursa! I'd love to see you try out the techniques/approach to the game Herson describes in his channel! District discounting, delaying science so districts are cheaper, commercial hubs almost always above other districts, etc. Maybe we can see some insane turn 150 science victories that way! Good luck with your move, Cheers
I would love to see a republic only run where all of your governments are the election type, so that means in order (classical republic, merchant republic, democracy, digital democracy) and bonus points for having all legacy policy cards in after getting them for example when going from classical republic to merchant you muat immediately plug in the republican legacy card and it remains there for the rest of the game
What a great challenge I must say! I did try Sid meier difficulty myself as a babylon and oh boy what a game it was. Had to pay 250 gold per turn to force peace but managed to win on pangea on online speed like 1-2 turns ahead of the AI. I'm really curious about how you shall manage it, wish you good luck!
So far, what I'm getting from this is that, while other civs on this difficulty are completely insane, the fact that city states also get the same starting military puts barbarians on easy mode. That's a decent trade off.
I have no idea how they make the ai better without first addressing its complete lack of being able to manage the 1 tile 1 unit system making it unable to war, I have literally never seen an ai wipe on another ai in my Deity games, except when Kupe has 1 city 10 tiles from someone’s cap
lol, in previous version, deity only had 1 additional settler, i've played this game so much and yet i never realize they had 2 additional settler in the civ 6 one
I'm wondering about how roads are put down according to the code of the game - if you avoid the tech that allows builders/traders to go into the water, do you get more land roads? If that's true, I could see incentive to avoid that tech as Rome in order to get the best road to Rome, particularly on oddly shaped land masses (where the road doesn't always get laid down correctly)
Without having finished watching this I am thinking: The more you buff the AI the more gold you get yourself from the flawed trading system. So in essence these buffs are actually human buffs.
Yes that is a counter acting aspect to the difficulty increase - it's perfectly allowable thought as the ai is running HUGE bonuses, you have to play efficiently to keep up!!
Knowing your skills, you will probably still beat this at Sid Meier difficulty. If you want even more of a challenge, the Deity ++ mod also allows you to tweak the AI late game so that they receive no starting bonuses (extra settlers, warriors etc.), but scale MUCH better into the late game. I've found that this tweak makes the game at least 2 levels harder than otherwise. Good luck! And hey, harder challenges mean more entertaining content, no? :D
Hmm - i'm not sure about 2 levels harder as it makes the early game a lot easier - I've always found it a bit balanced! I switch between the two modes to be fair!!
I'll admit that I haven't been watching Ursa's videos for a while now, mostly because I've been reading through Out of Cruel Space on the HFY subreddit & I'm on Part 971 of 999 (this is the first "phase" of the story, I started reading when the second phase of the story came out) so I've been distracted reading instead. However, I'll be sure to watch the backlog of the games, probably while playing some good ol' Civ 5 myself.
Would you consider playing byzantium on a true start location mediteranian map like you did on deity++ but with difficulty 13 (maybe excluding babylon). Honestly my favourite game from you so would be fun to see if you can figure it out with this difficulty.
Huzzah! I am very much in awe of how skilled you are, but i still wish you luck so that this particular adventure would be fruitful and fun! I also though that AI at received bonuses to food? Cause when you take their cities they suddenly start starving and need to work different tiles
@@UrsaRyan its just that in the spreadsheet for the mod tha showed the bonuses the AI gets in each level of difficulty i didn't see anything about food, though i could have missed it
I NEED to know how stupid Babylon is on this difficulty. If Hammurabi isn't getting a science victory by turn 100 (standard speed) then I don't think we've gone far enough into this nightmare.
“Australia.. in Europe? What is this.. Eurovision?” ~Ursa Ryan 😅😂😅😂
Still can't believe we haven't seen Kylie or Jason sent across yet XD
I did not expect that lol
HUZZAH URSA'S BACK AGAIN
Tell a friend!!!
Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back...
I love that you started on 'fresh water' at Lake Torrens. Lake Torrens is one of those outback 'lakes' that 95% of the time has no water in it.
Just think rainy thoughts
Hi ursa, just wanted to share that today I finally got my first win on level 10!!! (babylon, science vic, large map, 12 players, Pangaea, barb and monopolies mod)
That's awesome!!! Keep at it, they'll come easier and easier!!
nice
🎉Huzza!🎉
Great Job! 🎉 Much better than me. (I dare not play past prince)
As someone who also has thousands of hours in this game, I agree with your assessment of your skill level. The few games on the modded difficulties I've played have been part opposites of what you've shown us!
Why thank you!!
Thanks!
Glad to see Ursa finally embraces UA-cam thank you feature, after 2 years of the feature launch. lol
Hey @liuyusi125 , thanks so much for this, really appreciate it!!! Hope you're enjoying the series = )
Thee shalt be crowneth to forever yield the name of...
...Ursa Ryan, *the Adapable.* ;)
So flexible
Did anyone else see Soger's sub 200 science victory? With Mansa Musa on difficulty 13.
Soger is too good
No! I'll have to check it out
I sat through and watched all 6 hours of it.
@@UrsaRyan You're gonna like Soger.
@@sogergaming Come to think of it, I think you like Soger as well.
New Ursa upload. Les go.
Huzzah!

Haha - we'll be back playing more but perhaps not every time XD
ursa playing on even harder difficulty.... instant like
YAAAAY It's me! Super excited to see the Darklord city! :D
A pleasure to have you here!
happy you're back! i recently got a friend onto civ and sent him all your videos to get him used to the game lol we're playing together and it's so much fun
Very pleased to see you pulling more people into the civ sphere!
"Is it the salty tears of my expected future pain?" You're such a mood. Do you perhaps cry a lot but you are so productive (it's an art)?
Huzzah! Welcome back Ursa, hope life is getting a bit more stable!
Huzzah!
Welcome back with a new challenge …. Looks exciting! 👍👍
The Civ expert is back!!
The shoutout is getting LONG long, congrats Ursa you deserve it!
Quite a way to come back to the usual videos, huzzah!
Huzzah!
Wow!!! I am just mastering prince and about to move up 1 more level. Of course, I have a Fallout 4 and the Original Baldur's Gates series addictions that slow me down. Awesome, totally enjoy your fun!
Keep at it! The trick is to keep trying different civs and wins - variety = learning the ropes faster!
as someone who still struggles with normal deity this just looks insane and terrifying. Can't wait to see how this works out.
Well, this looks tantalizing and yet terrifying! We shall see what unfolds.
Huzzah! Hope you had an awesome time with your new dog!
Never thought a Civ vid would make it hard to breathe. This is insane.
Huzzah!! The chosen one hath returned!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Huzzah!
Really didn't want this one to end. Time to go to bed so I can get to tomorrow faster and see what happens next!
fun fact: in civ 3, sid is actually the hardest difficulty, being harder than diety
Shady is back!
Ursa, I'm not gonna lie: this one is testing my faith a bit. I'm commenting before turn 1, and I have my doubts, but I must be strong. Go get 'em!
I'll do you proud!!
I've been playing on Transcendent difficulty myself, and find the AI to generally be much more competent than before in it's decision making. Good fun!
that's very hard, well done!!

£630 - Some say Sid Meier learned to program at the University of Sankore. Others say it was the University of Michigan.
I should have known!
For the early culture I really like this pantheon :)
He returns. HUZZAH!!!!!!!

OMG that iron under the campus...when video games become real-life drama...

Ironically the city state thing made me understand the reason Raven King is so good is because it scales really well with difficulty
I can't wait to give them a try!!
HUZZAH!
Only at 4:00, but already so much HYPE !!
Huzzah!
glad to see you back, would hate to have all this vacation time and nothing to watch
*completely surrounded by barbarian horse units*.....I need a monument 🤔
You are a mad man, Ursa. 😂 Sid Meier difficulty!
1:55 ish talking about making you sit up at 3am.. as I'm watching this, sitting up at 3am

early bears! huzzah!!
Huzzah!
Ursa’s back, back again… Sometimes I wonder what the old Ursa would say, if he could see the way civ is today :)
Ursa, your pain is entertaining. Thanks
I’m interested if Caesar retains his gold from barb camps buff at higher levels, could make him even more glorious
Can we get another "say yes to everything" game?? That was quite entertaining
Maybe that barb camp has 200% production as well… holy smokes that’s scary.
Lake Torrens always makes me think of Jack Torrance.
Civ is a lifelong endeavor
I sat up at 3am not because of the civ quake but instead a Charlie Horse in my calf
YAY!!! Early bears assemble!
Huzzah!

me, a nood: struggling on Emperor
UA-camrs: beating double deity
Babylon on this mod would probably be in space by the end of the Classical era
So far, what I'm getting from this is that, while other civs on this difficulty are completely insane, the fact that city states also get the same starting military puts barbarians on easy mode.
That's a decent trade off.
Certainly does till the ai conscripts one against you!!
Love the new levels. Means i can play with secret societies and monopolies and it doesn't get too easy that it's boring
Issue is if the ai gets the same bonuses...!
i like you so much because i am the same, anything i pick up i'm talented at, yet i never am able to go past that
Love those Australia campuses
I’ve never heard a city referred to as Chopville. It’s very accurate
Chopville is a state of mind as well as a place!
Hey Ursa! Have you heard of district discounting? If yes, do you use/consider it in your games?
Not meaning locking disctrict prod. cost
I tend to play too fluidly to use them! efficiency vs being able to adapt to what the ai is throwing out
Huzzah!!! almost 56k
Huzzah!
Have you played multiplayer at all? I think it might take some adjusting but you could be pretty good
i wish I had time for MP!!
I didn't know there were others that were woken up at 0300. I thought it was just me 👀
I have no idea how they make the ai better without first addressing its complete lack of being able to manage the 1 tile 1 unit system making it unable to war, I have literally never seen an ai wipe on another ai in my Deity games, except when Kupe has 1 city 10 tiles from someone’s cap
That menacing 13 needs a triskaidekaphobia trigger warning 😅😭
It's scary looking!!
lol, in previous version, deity only had 1 additional settler, i've played this game so much and yet i never realize they had 2 additional settler in the civ 6 one
Hope the move went well! I just moved into a new house too!
It's a busy time isnt it!!
pretty cool vid so far
HE'S BACK!
back again
Will you ever try Multiplayer games Ursa? It would probably be entertaining, although I suspect even you would lose against the pros.

I have always thought that as well. We can use the gold much better than the AI.
Well, that gold dont help to much if you have to fight man at arms with warriors.

Literally 3 am at night while I’m watching this, I had to check the upload date to make sure it wasn’t like just posted😭. Feel a little called out
Finally a challenge

thoughts and prayers!!! i tried a handful of times and got absolutely steam rolled before the end of the classical era every time 😢
I'm sure my day will come!
This is my first day watching
Huzzah!! 🐻
Huzzah!
Have you been listening to multiplayer civ masters? I can see their influence in the more optimized early game
these are just SP tactics I'm running atm - no idea about the MP meta i'm afraid!
Huzzah! Oh joy!
Huzzah!
I was hoping Ursa would play this mod - I had Theodora getting 1000 military strength on turn 38
You sure the barbarian unit spawn rate is not buffed to 200% as well?
the not producing settlers until turn 2000 opener. I need to write this down
I NEED to know how stupid Babylon is on this difficulty. If Hammurabi isn't getting a science victory by turn 100 (standard speed) then I don't think we've gone far enough into this nightmare.
With 200% production and gold, he will be getting every eureka so quickly
