    Really really effective. The glitter worked so well. Those little gems are great. If they're the same ones then I don't mind which way around they go as they look like silver coins on the back.

    Looks really good the glitter was more effective than I would have thought.

    It looks really effective. I'm thinking of making something similar with my son. The glitter worked a lot better than I would have imagined.

    Re Gorilla glue: look for the Clear, ‘non foaming’ one. Works a treat and you avoid the annoying foaming.

      I will definently look out for that one next time =)

    The dislike was from Mrs. Hobbyist who has to deal with gold glitter all over the house for the rest of her life.
    Great build! A treasure room that would make Scrooge McDuck want to go gold diving.

    Tip: Gorilla Glue (GG) is set by WATER. Use a very THIN layer of GG on ONE piece and set aside. Dampen (do NOT soak) the OTHER surface you wish to join to, then press your glued piece to that surface. You will not get nearly the same expansion. For the glue to set without this step, it must draw moisture from the air... trapped air causes the bubbling expansion. You will find if you use the glue sparingly, you will not go through as much.

    Excellent job! I love the ingenuity you use to make the gold and put together the base and walls. I'm starting a campaign soon with new players and I really want to have beautiful maps for them to explore!

    You should coat it in half n half modpodge and black acrylic paint.

    I built modular treasure piles with chunky glitter in different metal colors to make them look like big piles of coins and the treasure chests were made out of Popsicle sticks and matches
    (because i don't own a 3d printer ^^)

    Really cool method for creating piles of gold that still hold the details of individual coins. The gems and other items break it up nicely and really sells the idea of a treasure room that heroes have stumbled into.

    Barge contact cement is good for gluing foam. Used a lot by puppet makers

    This looks great! I would have never thought of molding treasure piles from paper-mache. Thanks for the tip!

  • @negotiableaffections
    @negotiableaffections 2 роки тому

    Papier-mache versus sculptamold, there are many online recipes for both, and I've spent years using both. For bulk and speed-drying [terrain] you are looking at the Sculptamold end of the spectrum because it utilises plaster-of-paris. However if you stay within the guideline of keeping papier-mache 'clay' restricted to thin layers [approx 5mm - 1/4inch max] you can profit from its much better manipulation properties and with armatures very tough structures can be achieved. btw keep the hot air gun away from the foam, just a split second inattention or even a sneeze and you can have a gaping hole in your meticulous work. Great little 'diorama' just keep an eye out for Smaug.

    For treasure piles, look for glitter glue. It is basically clear PVA with glitter in it. I use a mix of gold and silver with a small amount of red, blue, green and purple mixed together. The glitter is very small so it looks more to scale with the 25mm figures most people use.

  • @jasonstatham5879
    @jasonstatham5879 2 роки тому +1

    I've used this glitter. It's great, but I recommend putting a layer of watered down PVA over it just to lock it in.

    but oh man does that glitter ever look good,, what a great paintjob man
    truly a treasure hoard worth of a mega tyrant king or even a dragon!! loved this, looks amazing. I will definitely have to use your gold pile recipe in the future on something

    If I was a DM with this room, I'd put as many traps and gelatinous cubes as possible in that room. Got to give the players a hint with a few skeketons on the floor of course.
    Or only one pile is the real rreasure; choose correctly or else...
