At the school I go to, AP Gov was actually required and most people took it either in freshmen year or sophomore year. The year I took it was during the 2020 elections so we got to learn firsthand about election cycles and how it plays out. I’d recommend AP Psychology as number 5. It fulfills a general education requirement in some way shape or form at most universities. It’s also very doable, it mostly just entails terming things that most people do subconsciously throughout their lives, and a bit of history behind different psychological theories. AP Economics would probably be my number 6 for similar reasons.

@@user-wk3nk1nk3u AP Bio, Chem, Statistics and Psychology should be your top priorities, as almost every nursing program requires those classes as prerequisites. Anything else would be for a general degree requirement and heavily depends on what exactly the university wants their students to learn. So take that into consideration and don’t take more AP classes than you can handle; it’s better to score a 5 on 3 AP exams than score a 3 on 5 exams.

My biggest advice is to take classes that you are interested in and relate to your path in life rather than ones you think will look pretty for colleges. The most useful for me were AP Calc BC, AP Lang, and AP CS A. I'm doing a CS degree so getting Calc I and II knocked out was great, and CS A also knocked out the first year requirements for CS at my school. Stats didn't actually help because my school does not allow any AP scores to count for upper division classes, and the stats class I have to take is upper division, but I've heard that AP Stats does make it a breeze.

I made sure to balance my time and determine which will take me the longest to focus my time primarily on that subject! I only took a few aps in high school but I am really glad I took gov. Also coming from someone who does not strive for the same high achieving standard that this guy does, gov wasn’t overwhelmingly difficult. And I got a 4 on exam. Also even though I did not do well on the exams, taking AP micro and macro did help prepare me for my undergraduate Finance courses. The other I took was bio which I did well on the exam and got to apply in college, along with gov.

Hey, so I am a Sophomore now, and I chose AP psychology as my first AP. I was later found out it was full since upperclsssmen had priority. I tried getting in AP human Geography, but that was also at the capacity. My school doesn’t really have a lot of staff for the abundant number of kids at the school. (680 to be exact) so I am stuck with no AP this sophomore year and I couldn’t freshman year, so I am trying to make up that one AP I can’t with all honors classes, and challenging myself he most I can do. I hope I can do two AP junior year next year and three senior year. Is it bad that I literally can’t do an AP this sophomore year because of the number of students enrolling in the same AP? Like I can’t obviously choose certain AP that I want to since they have a prerequisite for them. I hope I can get in UNC, Duke, or WashU. Last year freshman year I had a 4.3 weighted, and a 4.0 unweighted. I calculated that if this year I get all As which I will work for, I’ll get a 4.5 weighted and 4.0 unweighted or so. Any advice or thoughts to my bad situation?
    Thanks.
PS my brother got in the AP classes that he chose, but not me. I am just unlucky… 😢

When applying to colleges, take a look at their AP credit policies and note which AP classes are eligible for transfer credit. Hard science (Calculus, Bio, Chem, Physics C) and foreign language APs are more likely to count for college credit at the most competitive colleges compared to soft science (Macro/Micro, History, Psych, Gov) or Art/Music and other humanities like English. Some top colleges don’t allow any AP credits to transfer, although you may place out of some first year courses at the least. And, of course, take APs that are relevant to your intended major.

@hopsmax2827 I didn't need any outside resources since the packets my teacher gave were more than enough. The class at my school was much harder than the exam itself, with almost everyone, including some who even got 70s in the class, getting 5 on the exam. But even then, it was super simple to get an A, it just depends on if you're willing to put in the effort.
So each unit had a packet that was 30-40 pages long. During lectures, my teacher went over random problems in the packet. Instead of just copying down what the teacher writes, actually try to do the problem yourself. Check whatever you did wrong with the teacher's work
At home, do the entire packet two times. First time, just try to get a deep understanding of how to do the problems. Second time, solve them as if taking a test. Try to do them as fast as you can, while also making sure you don't make careless mistakes ever
What I said above is solely based on my personal experience on how to get an A in the class at my school. To get a 5 on the exam, simply do the packet once and its fine to even have the answer key open next to you (based on my friends who got mid to high B's but 5 on the exam). I have no idea if your teacher will be handing out as much homework as mine did. If not, try searching for past ap exam questions or use ap classroom over the unit you're on and do them a bunch until you stop making careless mistakes
It's honestly not as much work as it sounds, say you've got 2 weeks per unit, you can do around 4 pages per day (maybe 16-24 problems, which should take less than an hour per day). Ofc it can stack up with your other ap classes and extracurriculars, but it'll save an entire year more time by letting you skip Calc 2 as well as Calc 1, so it's definitely one of the more relevant ap classes
