This album really shows how you don't have to be complicated to compose great music. I've listened to this album several times now and really enjoying it more and more. Nice job Airbag.
Airbag. I first heard about them on the web with a prompt...if you like Pink Floyd, you may like... I went to their website which had their previous EPs free for download. This was for me, the best elements of Floyd and so much more. I've been a big fan of them from Identity on. All their albums are great listens, as well as Bjorn solo. I must say I reach for Airbag before Floyd. As for the new release, it's great. Retains the Airbagsound, with the usual progression they show album to album. And the bass on this album, is magnificent. Amazing band. Nice review, Scot!
Great review! I'm also really enjoying this album. Love how they start with a dark, moody atmospheric base then slowly build it up and punctuate with scorching guitars and evocative vocals. Although somewhat dark, it remains quite accessible, with much beauty and power, creating a quite immersive listening experience. Great stuff.
Tyrants and Kings is so far my fave track of 2024. In the past years I've been leaning more towards "cacthy/radio-friendly" types of songs by Prog bands. It reminded me a bit of Ulver's 2020 album Flowers of Evil. Anything that is a nod to 80s synth goes well with me
With great care and admiration. I listen to a new album at least ten times before doing a review!!! I want to know every note, every chord change, everything. The rest is just personal opinion!!!
Karisma eh? Well Scot, time and money is slowing me down a bit. I’ve also been taking comfort in the past. So not a lot new stuff going on over here. Great review once again. You’ve certainly been learning me all about Prog from continental Europe. I’ll pay attention but I’m not certain how much digging I’ll be doing.
Totally not related to this video but I have to mention this: JOHN MAYALL - dead. Normally I'd be really sad - well, I'm still sad - just a bit - but he lived to be 90 and remained active as a recording artist and performer up until only a few weeks ago so, to quote one of his 1990s songs, 'I can't complain'. However, life in a world without Mr Mayall is now slightly poorer.
Thank you so much for the great review!

What an awesome band!!!!!
I LOVE Airbag. I’ve never been on CTTE so I don’t think I’ll ever get to see them live, unfortunately. Rock on, Scot!
I bet they are an awesome live band…

Big fan of this album as well as All Rights Removed. Tear it down is particularly lovely
Yes!!! You get it!!!!

I'll certainly give it a good listen.
Yes sir!!!!!
I really like Airbag. I can’t wait to check out their new album. Knowing them, I’m sure it’ll be good, if not great.
It’s very good!!!!
Seems like we woke up early this morning. We usually don't get a video until around lunchtime on the east coast.
I got up early to interview Tusmørke!!!
Great review Scot of the new album "Airbag "The century of the Self".I have to check out this album.
I love it!!!

Yet another brilliant Norwegian band. What is it about Scandinavian prog bands.
It’s out of control!!!!🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴
@@kenjones6441 Yeah, Norway is hitting it out of the field! I'm anxiously waiting for MEER's new album. I think is either next month or September.
@DiegoMartinez-et3qh Wheels Within Wheels is fantastic. You are going to love it!!!!! Amazing.🇳🇴❤️👍
guess it is very Prog to be Norwegian? cool release, true it has radio potential.
Great review, Scot!
Thank you!!!
Nine T-shirt, Scott. I'd love to see Seven Impale. Caligonaut's album is my favorite album of the 2020s. I need to inhale Airbag.
Caligonaut!!!!!! Micheal Ole Bjorndel is so good!!!!
How do you determine chord progressions from ear?
I’m not that good!!! I usually listen to a new album with a my keyboard next to me so I can work out what’s going on!!!!
Cool video, just curious, how do you critique albums?

Your level of participation is up to you!!! ❤️👍❤️👍❤️
Hey Scot! Finally got a couple hours of sleep. As you know i was doing research trying to find the truth about Patrick. Cool review! 👍☮️👑🐍😎
The truth is out there!!!!
@@TheProgCorner Where oh where? Lol.😎😎😎
I have no idea!!!!
What is "truth"?
@andrewlongshaw2128 I have two answers for that question.

Yes it is…
Love the band BUT the new album is BORING!
I quite liked it…
