The thing i remember most from 2008 is my power being out for two weeks after Hurricane Ike hit Houston in September. This is a great list of albums. Really liked the Ayreon album. You mentioned Simone Simons as one of the guest singers. She released an album with Ayreon this year. Really enjoyed it. Have discovered a lot of these bands this year from this channel and will check out these albums.
The Bedlam in Goliath is my absolute go-to album from the fantastic Mars Volta. I enjoy the slightly different soundscapes from their other releases. Moon Safari are ridiculously good Scot !!! Great stuff. 😍🎵🎵🤘
Was busy in the art world in 2008 and wasnt tracking prog at all. This is like cliff notes for me. Mars Volta will be my soundtrack at the desk today. Great tips.
Nice to see Elbow in your list. Love me a bit of Elbow and "The Seldom Seen Kid" is a good album. But my 2 favourites are "Leaders Of The Free World" and "Little Fictions".

Anyways going through my collection this is what I've found. I’m liking the new Smile as well. It seems like Thom has got a new band. I listened to New Sound but it just ain’t for me. I wish I could hear what you’re hearing. The vocals ruin it for me but it seems I’m in the minority. 🥺👍
Cool list! I have Bedlam in Goliath and 01011001 at the top of my list (you're right, TBiG is really underappreciated). Others I feel are worth a mention... Frost*'s Experiments in Mass Appeal may be a bit less of a standout than Milliontown or Falling Satellites but it's a great album. Seventh Wonder's Mercy Falls also is a great pick. An obscure one, maybe, but the German instrumental jazz fusion group 7for4 put out their album Diffusion that year, I'd say it's pretty proggy and worth a listen. And maybe a controversial take, since it's the only album by them that I'd even consider calling a prog album, and it's not the best remembered, but I have a soft spot for Judas Priest's Nostradamus. It's a two disc concept album about, well, Nostradamus, that's pretty prog in my book.
Nous n'avons pas de tout les même goûts en prog. musique, c'est normal, vu nos vies différentes, c'est comme ça. Ceci étant, je fais des découvertes, merci.

Definitely a down year. No 10/10 albums for me - although Blomljud and Lifeline are 9.5/10…
