Russ Barenberg writes and plays the most beautiful melodies. This number is one the very finest to come out of these Transatlantic sessions.

This was the song that played at the end of my mothers funerary service.
It always makes me shed a little tear as it harnesses the bittersweet nature of our finite existence so beautifully.
No matter how beautiful our life, still bitter is our end. and no matter how bitter our end, still beautiful is our life. Goodbye mum, and thank you, Mr Barenberg.

Before I leave these pages för my own copies of TS 1&3 I would like to thank you, Tom and the others for giving the rest of the world a chance to discover all these marvelous artists. My celtic blood runs twice as fast as my swedish when I see their joy and satisfaction. To point out someone in particular is hard, but I have to mention the composer Russ Barenberg, the expressive Danny Thompson, Maura O`Connell - what a voice- and of course Jerry Douglas, who was the reason I found it.

drummer is a salesman who goes on foot into conquered or unconquered territory selling pins and needles, riboons, whatever, a tinker, a carpetbagger(Civil War).
many a great NYC merchant house started that way, and there were casualties
    aplenty. the Aztecs(Gary Jennings)called them Vanguard Merchants/Pochteca(N)
and they doubled as spies. it still goes on.
