Extraordinarily beautiful, sort of bittersweet and melancholy to start, then before the tears leave your eyes, it sweeps you up to soar over the hills and dales on the wings of a falcon! Wow!

Peadar O’Donnell - a man who should never be forgotten. A socialist and internationalist who got many things right - from the Spanish Civil War to the Vietnam war - many who knew him will take joy from this music.

Since my comment a year ago, left when I first discovered this video, I have listened to this multiple times. And usually multiple times back to back to back. Just beautifull. And I agree wholeheartedly with another commenter that the bass is spectacular -- brilliant idea to play it with a bow. And when he takes it down, down, and down, I get goosebumps all over my body! Thank you all for your immense talent and a job well done!

The Takarasaka part...music doesn't get any better. All the instruments voices are heard.

You put Jerry Douglas, Russ Barenberg, Aly Bain, and Danny Thompson in the room and *_...ZAH!!_* ...sonic magic is comin' earward. When this tune kicks into overdrive at 2:30, my hands can't stop whangin' out the 16th notes until the music stops. My cat thinks I'm crazy. Well, he's not wrong. I'm crazy about this music. 😎

I saw Jerry live when I was a kid, right after he wrote Takarasaka. He said it means "beautiful mountain side" or "village idiot."
