Where’s Chris? Lo and behold he comes skipping on from the OPPOSITE side of the stage, like it was a solo show, carrying a coloured Black Crowes parasol. I won’t go into detail about the show, except to say there was very little chemistry in my eyes between Chris and his brother. Anyway, a couple of weeks later I went to see TTB at the same venue. No showboating, no hogging the spotlight, every single musician just playing their part to make a wonderful whole.
There are very few out there who can play a guitar like Derek, and there is NO ONE better at playing 'slide' guitar than Derek .. hands down, he's the best !!! 🎸🎶🎷
Listening to this on my way to work, eyes welling up with tears, and really didn’t care if I showed up a few minutes late. Had to keep rewinding. Simply unbelievable. Very few musicians have such ability to draw tears from my eyes. Derek is one of the few.
I like his singing too. He was the vocalist for the Derek Trucks Band. When this band formed, he said he was happier being in the back. Don't know if that was a rationalization, but that's what he said.
If you are amazed like me first time hearing this fantastic song, a few years ago, especially by Derek’s soulful solo from 6:45, which all of a sudden takes you from the heart of the US, to India, the country of deep and mysterious music, we probably need to review and remember where this magic is coming from. Derek is a living treasure and the rare product of a great musical foundation which is his great talent, playing in Allman Brothers’ band from very early ages, getting attracted and acquainted with Indian classical music by knowing Ustad (maestro) Ali Akbar Khan, marrying and collaborating with Suzan, a wonderful musician and phenomenal singer, gathering and attracting an exceptional band of amazing musicians and vocalists like irreplaceable Kofi (R.I.P), dedicating his and Suzan’s whole lives on their passion and professional careers, as well as this incredible band. The outcome is one of the best (if not the best) live-performing music bands on the planet! Music is not a hobby or fun for these guys, it’s their whole existence. Everything that I love about this band was front and center here. Great groove. Upbeat. A very short pull back before making it drive again. Dynamics! Those now iconic Tedeschi vocals and very inspired and intense lead guitar solos from Derek. His playing style is legendary and really on fire here. Every individual member is adding something separately strong to make THAT SOUND! Just amazing and a great example of American music at its finest. You can't really call it jazz or blues or rock or Gospel in any standard formula way. It's just unique and just great American music. Something happens to my soul at about the 7:30 mark when he drops down & synchs up with the horns, on that low G, and starts that dizzying crescendo. I can’t get enough of this version.
There are many reasons to see TTB perform live. Very many. For those of you putting it off I highly recommend you rethink that. For one, this isn't a band on a legacy tour. This is a band in it's artistic and conceptual prime. Maybe even before they're prime. They keep evolving and growing musically and this band is all about the music. Seriously, go see them. Once won't be enough. It's a lot to take in the first time. They have so much going on musically. That and Derek's guitar playing. I ended up focusing on that . Mainly because I heard sounds that I never heard live before. It's one of those things that happens when you know you're seeing one of the greats. IMO It doesn't take long to realize that.

We were lucky and honoured to have the TTB band down here in Auckland several years, even meeting Oteil, Derek and Susan at the venue bar (the Power Station) after the show. No pretentions there, just great, yet humble and generous musos, not averse to mingling with the "natives" in their charming low-key manner belying their other-worldly chops. But this Derek and the Dominoes rendition I stumbled on tonight is an absolute and delightful surprise. Knocks my socks off.
I will be at both the Brussels and Amsterdam shows. It should be epic. I saw them live 3 times last year, in New Orleans (Jazzfest) then at the Holland International Blues Festival then again in Hamburg. The hottest live act around right now.

Derek is one of the few players where every show you watch, he'll get an ovation almost after every solo he plays. That happens 3 times during this song.
We are lucky enough to be watching IN REAL TIME the life of one of, if not the BEST Slide Guitarists to ever live. If there is a heaven then I imagine Duane Allman is sitting on the steps listening to what was a child, has become a man and a great inspiration to us all...
I never heard of these people until youtube took me here, it's like the Allman brothers, and Sheryl Crow meets Derek and the Dominos! What a wonderful sound. Carry on!
This was a great show the last time for Kofi in Oakland RIP. Who are the 258 people that thumbs down this show. Just makes you scratch your head. They were on FIRE that night.
Well said they play with all their talent try to get better Derrick is a truly great performer he wants to be better for us all .can you imagine how good the children will be creative Ernie Grim from saint Louis Missouri.
How is it that something this good is free? That I can sit on my couch and watch this without paying anything? Mind blowing. Now to catch them live when they’re in town and hear them fill an entire hall with these sweet sounds. Life is so good.
Simply beautiful and up lifting...makes me smile every time I hear this!! So wonderful to hear a band playing this way in this era...just fantastic!! Thanks to all who support and lift this great band up!! Love the Miles shirt to Derek!!
Soul is hard to define - try to pick it apart and you will get lost. It comes in all human colors and sizes and covers all genres of music. All I can tell you is that every single musician in this band has it... in spades. One of the best units alive, and you can take that to the bank.
I love everything about TTB's version of this tune. For some reason, I especially love the fact that they sing the famous accidental 'baby' from the Layla album. You know how some people just have something special about them? That's Derek for me. Peace.
After playing with the Allman brothers Derek Trucks went solo with his own band, then Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi got married and their combined bands are a BEAST!! So much talent on one stage!!!
Peter bone-London geezer.Saw them live in London last year-major fix-but it’s beginning to fade ,so I’m back to UA-cam-such an eclectic gathering of styles.Superb
The Allman's were among my earliest experiences with rock and roll. These people have carried me right back there. So much talent. Love your whole big band!
Literally. The Greatest. Touring Band. In Existence. Full stop. And, I miss Kofi. RIP. Also, just remember folks, Susan and Derek are two young people's PARENTS. How cool do you wish your parents were? That friends, is a high f-ing bar.
The very first time that I was sooo lucky to accidentally come across this video, and got to know this band, I couldn’t sleep the whole night, and watched their other performances on UA-cam! This is not only about music, it’s about spirituality and humanity that calls you through the notes and words, specially from Derek and his guitar! Blues, southern rock, country, soul, jazz,... you name it,... plenty of genres are there, interacting and fusing with each other, but the punch line and the climax of the music for me is the Indian Classical tunes and ragas!!! That’s when I can’t help my tearful eyes! God bless you guys on the stage, specially the genius and wonderful couple, Suzan and Derek. ❤️
I’ve loved this tune since I first heard it back in the’70s. This is a righteous version. Nice to see someone bring it back for today’s audiences to enjoy.
I think this is the best I’ve ever seen Derek. Everything about this solo is shattering my reality. To be in that room was to be in the center of the universe.
Saw them perform this song during an incredible two hours of non-stop, mind-blowing, musical ecstasy. Now my all-time favorite concert! And I've been to many in my lifetime, but none like this!
I can't stress to anyone how much I love this band. Derek Trucks is absolutely phenomenal and in my opinion is the greatest living guitarist. Susan's voice is great. This music and this performance makes me feel so good and so alive! If I could be in any band in the world, past or present, it would be this one.
This song, and this very fine band, are what our country needs to do right now. Pandemic, awful George Floyd murder. We have to learn from it and become better people. Growing....
My wife and I caught the September 9th show at the Fox! Blew me away! Got to meet Chris Robinson at the soundboard and just KNEW he was going to be asked to join them onstage. Awesome night. Can't wait for the new CD/BluRay.

I was there. They killed this night. So glad I can revisit it over and over
Derek is one of the few players where every show you watch, he'll get an ovation almost after every solo he plays.
I'd like to teach the world to sing... HEY! You want to heal the world with music?
Tedeschi Trucks Band for POTUS in 2020!!!
I second that!!!
I was backstage for this one!!! TTB WERE IN PEAK FORM THAT NIGHT
they just keep getting better and better!
I never heard of these people until youtube took me here, it's like the Allman brothers, and Sheryl Crow meets Derek and the Dominos! What a wonderful sound. Carry on!
They are a treasure - why did I discover them not earlier 😅
This was a great show the last time for Kofi in Oakland RIP. Who are the 258 people that thumbs down this show. Just makes you scratch your head. They were on FIRE that night.
They always look so happy to be playing.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Oh, my God!
The whole band is in the discussion for best in the world. Trucks is in the discussion for the best that ever lived. I am so thankful for this band.
Derek is much more than a bottle neck , slide player for you younger people out there, he is just plain TALENTED. Live Long & Rock On...
Well said they play with all their talent try to get better Derrick is a truly great performer he wants to be better for us all .can you imagine how good the children will be creative Ernie Grim from saint Louis Missouri.
Love love love. That's all. Pure joy
This band just gets it.Rockin' Soul revue.God speed Kofi.
IMHO...Best live band in the world today. Period. March can't come soon enough!
How is it that something this good is free? That I can sit on my couch and watch this without paying anything? Mind blowing. Now to catch them live when they’re in town and hear them fill an entire hall with these sweet sounds. Life is so good.
All of them! Consummate musicians! One of my favorite bands!
My god the man singing is very good.
Derek's tone and dynamics are amazing...
SWAMP FAMILY 4 LIFE! Love you ALL!
Best band I've ever seen live - more an 'experience' than a concert
I saw them last November and I was exhausted. Complete sensory overload. No drugs or alcohol and I was completely buzzed. Lots of rushes.
Simply Awesome!!! Derek Trucks is on fire on this one!
Musically, visually, acoustically, the best piece of music on
the Tube!
Absolutely...
I literally can’t stop watching this 🥰
The band is a army in perfect unison. Trucks never I mean never misses a note. Susan has a beautiful voice and is no slouch on the guitar
they are SO tight! SO good. I love seeing Susan admiring Derek's playing. I love this band!!
I'm totally in Love with Everything Y'all Do.... Keep on Rolling"" ❤️🌹❤️
Love this whole band.
Bravo, bravo!!! Grooving like crazy!!!
❤❤❤
I keep coming back to this... and sharing to my young ones.
Derek never ceases to amaze me!.. This whole band.. is a spiritual thing for real!
The best slide player alive today
Not disagreeing but have you heard Jack Pearson play slide?
He may be great. But he ain’t Derek
I can´t wait to see you live here in Denmark, 17. of October!
Growing....
I feel bad that he had to go on stage right after getting his finger stuck in a bottle. Did well with it.
That's funny . Great art inspires good humour. Love.
Good thing The Little Hero of Haarlem didn't have a gig that legendary day.
My wife and I caught the September 9th show at the Fox! Blew me away! Got to meet Chris Robinson at the soundboard and just KNEW he was going to be asked to join them onstage. Awesome night. Can't wait for the new CD/BluRay.
