Ah yes, the first scenario where you learn about land management, space-saving, and buying plots. I always found this scenario interesting as a kid.
Once I learned the tricks to beat this park, all of the rest of the scenarios in RCT 1 got waaay easier. I realized you could build every park like this and you'd still make a ton of money 😅
It was my fav parc in rct1 , you can go insane on it
Wow how did I beat this when I was 10 not knowing you could buy plots in this scenario, I never attempted because it was either unavailable or unnecessary in almost every other scenario
@@DUKEHadToDoItToEm I think RCT would have benefited a lof if there was a longer scenario introduction and hint menu available. On the other hand this could ruin the challenge for some scenarios.
For anyone wondering about the Spinning Wild Mouse: this is not available when playing in RCT1. It is present here as a result of the import process OpenRCT2 uses when a park has the Spinning Cars available for the Steel Mini/Classic Mini. Unlike almost all other trains, this has not yet been ported due to its unique spinning animation. So it has been replaced with the closest match.
Yet.
@@SupersuMCI'm wondering why it's taken so many years maybe it's just that obscure they keep forgetting they ever wanted to add them
There is one thing though. If I remember correctly RCT1 didn't have the option to build the station of coasters or flat rides in the air from the beginning. So you had to either build the station last or raise land. Which makes this scenario in the original park size a lot harder.
You're absolutely right, I am at a huge advantage here using OpenRCT2.
Then there's Micro Park...
I absoutley love this series the most. It's great seeing how a pro absoutley demolishes these scenarios. It'd be cool to see an aesthetic focused playthrough too.
Firstly, we should appreciate how well optimised the game engine is handling so many people and rides without stuttering or drop in fps consuming very little resources. Latest gaming engines will bottle neck even 128gb ram and a 24 cores CPU while doing the same in latest games.
As a realism builder, this makes me twitch a little bit, but I enjoy seeing you stack all these rides!
Sounds like I need to make you an aesthetically pleasing suspended coaster, though! It can be done!
Ha, I tend to go for somewhat realistic parks in this series, but when presented with an oppertunity like this I couldn't resist!
Good luck trying to make the Swinging Sus look good lol
Dinky/Pokey park is my favorite RCT1 scenario, so I was very excited for this video. It did not disappoint. I love how it forces you to think how you can make good rides in compact spaces. Never realized you could cram close to 4,000 guests in this park though. That was awesome to see!
Something i loved doing in this park was to 'keep' the paths on the original piece of land, but having a lot of various rollercoasters have their stations there, but 'transfering' across the road to where the bulk of their ride was.
I love Marcel's insane ultra-dense parks. Makes me wanna be a guest and explore them.
Well yes, but no. I don't want to be a guest in Marcels parks. I mean, I can swim, but still...
There is one amusement park in Stockholm, Sweden that can really learn something from this park. That place was godawfully crowded when I visited last and you couldn't walk five feet without stumbling on another attraction.
@@wertigon Isn't there that water park in the UAE that's essentially a solid tower?
@@wertigon Gröna Lund? Yeah, it was closed when I was there last march, but it did look, let's say, compact.
Yes! I was waiting for this challenging run. I've always sucked at scenarios like Micro Park or unexpanded Pokey Park so it's really satisfying to see them done well, which you certainly did, and then some!
Marcel dropping sneaky tips in his tutorial is nice.
practice and HOW to practice is probably key for learning anything well so the self-imposed challenges never occurred to me. and since if i always do things same way it ends up being same. i often feel like playing RCT Deluxe after each video. and i might be getting better (after 2 and nearly half decades of playing) but i am quite dense or maybe set in my ways so it takes time.
this is my favourite series. i'm always so excited when it pops up on my homepage. 10/10
I remember dinky park in rct1. I wanted to beat it without buying new land and it ended up being a spaghetti of go karts, log flumes and like 8 steel shuttle loops. Fun times.
I'd love to see what this park looks like with the supports hidden 🤣
Also, the go-karts track over the freeway is really cute 💕
Can you imagine really visiting a theme park this dense? I'd get claustrophobic and I've spent a night in a coffin.
...did they think you were dead? You can't just say you spent a night in a coffin and leave it at that.
For those wondering why it may seem like guests flood out of crowded areas and into new parts of a park:
It's because guests always prefer to head towards rides they haven't ridden yet. If they have a park map there is also no range limit to their decision for unridden rides. It doesn't even have anything to do with ride age/value. That only determines how much a guest is willing to pay for the ride, not if guests decide to head towards it.
In practice, most guests in a park that's already crowded and running for a while will already have ridden all the available rides, so any new half-decent rollercoaster you build will pretty much attract every single guest to head there whenever they get their next tick of deciding to head to a specific ride. That's why opening a new attraction in an already busy park usually leads to overcrowding galore in that area.
In bigger parks this issue can get really pesky and persistent, because once the guests have ridden your newest ride they will have yet again ridden all available rides, which makes the map useless and the guests stick around and overcrowd that area until you open something new, because they only pick rides within their default range.
Here it's also just because there were so many guests stuck in the original part that randomly walked onto the new path.
I was going to sleep, but watching this video is more important.
I feel called out
I remember this scenario as "Dinky Park" - which made my 6 year old self think that this park had something to do with the "dinghy slide" ride! Haha.
I don't remember the _spinning_ Wild Mouse coaster being in RCT1?
This is the funniest and most entertaining channel I've stumbled upon clicking the link from The Guardian article link. I adored this game twenty years ago.
The creative deaths of patrons video had me in stitchesb on the toilet!
Thank you!
Scratch the 'b'
Pretty sure you did this right after I finished this comment. I'm sure you know this, but what helps with crowding is making 1 way pathing. It's been a long time, but iirc, just making a path that returns to itself, 3x3 square, that actually helps the crowding. Though I would have long paths that don't really go anywhere but return to the main path that are 1 way.
This is just Gröna Lund 😆
A cool challenge idea would be to beat RCT 1&2 using only flatrides, i think it would be quite challenging!
Its impossible as many scenarios include the goal of "have x coasters in your park with at least x excitement" theres even a scenario that doesn't have any flat rides at all
I wish i was this good at building pretty parks. Jealous. Well done! Loving this series.
This made me think. Challenge idea: All scenario completion requirements on 1 map.
Soo, 10 coaster types with an excitement rating of 7.00+ without letting your park rating drop below 700, along with repaying a loan of 10k and reaching a park value of 50,000 with 3,000 guests in the park by year 4?
Good idea! But I don't know how would choose for example the year limit (maybe let it open to try to beat as quick as possible, like a speedrun).
@@daninda1665no the Alton towers loan of like 2000000 😂
I think 2 years is the shortest one? so yeah, thats the idea but by end of year 2
@@daninda1665
I'm sure you are busy with other projects, but I am very much looking forward to the next video in this series. Very satisfying to watch.
This video inspired me to try and create some hyper dense parks. I'm in the process of filling up Dynamite Dunes. I have found that sometimes building the second or third level first really helps because then you fill in underneath it with gentle or thrill rides.
Vandals will break benches, trash cans and lamp posts but they will obey your park's pathing rules. Imagine if vandals could intentionally ignore No Entry signs, causing even more trouble for the player.
Don't give the OpenRCT2 devs ideas. XD
I still remember when I belived guest shirt color determined their weight.
At this rate, I expect one challenge to be "only using official pre-build ride-layouts".
Pokey Park, to this day, is among my favorite scenarios. I loved it as a kid, and I love it today.
9:58 Look at the left corner. There is a guest JUMPING from path to path?!
That guest was exiting the ride I made see-through for the shot.
pokey park was my favorite as a kid, so fun to see all these coasters and paths in a tiny space
What was the myth that Marcel unintentionally started?
'You can connect the path to the road here' Marcel's bloodlust for eliminating guests strikes again, but too bad there's no traffic coded in the game.
I was waiting for when you hit this scenario haha
I'm always in awe of how fast and well you can build 👌
Nice! I love this series. I like that you also take your time with it, instead of rushing out episodes.
marcel is our prophet of the park. there is no myth. only the word. we stand in awe of your eternal wisdom!
"it wouldn't be the first time that I've unintentionally started a myth that people still believe years later" Marcel reaching mythic status confirmed
Love this series! Look forward to the next instalment 🤞🏻
"It's not as terrible as some of the upcoming rides will be" lol.
I would like to see an ultra dense park with mostly good rollercoaster with a lift hill. This is a challenge, I think.
Wait... Nobody died in this scenario? How is that possible?
9:56 too bad you cant make/build a "No Vandalism" sign or rule! 😄
Thanks, Marcel. I love this series and seeing this posted really helped today. You always make such lovely parks.
Hey you didn't show us the disco balloon fest
I have a soft spot for the suspended swinging coaster because my first roller coaster was Big Bad Wolf (rest in peace) at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
My guess was gonna be you buying all the land and construction rights before the two years are up but I should’ve known that was too easy for the mighty Marcel.
Marcel Plays RCT is a good series to watch
Have you ever build a park really for it's beautifull looks ? Most parks that you build are stacked rides on top of each other or very crowded, but have you ever build a park on a very big map with detailed scenery and some of your math in it...Might be a nice challenge hahahaha. Maybe you should download my Titanic park and see what you can do with it ?
Heck yeah!! Love this series!
what a nice park!
But I cant build any road above the streets outside my park in Dusty Green scenario, I cant get over to the next land -.- like U do at 6:45
Question/challenge what is the smallest possible park size needed to fit every attraction and stall?
Ah yes, all rides are free, except for that one. But you can have a "free-ride coupon" for this one in order to attract guests. I'm glad that no company do this in real life.
I'd always thought that this park was oddly difficult for being in the original scenario pack, and not even that far into it. It's easy now, of course, but it was tricky as a kid compared to the ones around it.
I always enjoyed trying to hide everything I built in this park underground, and maintain the surface as close to the original layout as possible. It's possible to do without purchasing land so it looks like the park was beat without doing anything unless you look close.
i am durrently doing a no advertising run
i have to say advertising is absolutely the most op thing by far even more so than microcoasters
with ads i would beat every scenario without even trying in like 1 year but without ads i just barely get by some
I wonder what it would have looked like if he had bought all of the purchasable tiles 🤔
I don't play this game ... I just like this guys voice
Oh yes I always played this scenario by slowly building it up so that way I could buy the additional land. But one time I came up with the idea of building a vertical park I wasn’t going to buy any of the additional land I wanted to make a layered park. I succeeded but god it was a hot mess and the path system was a crime. That said I always loved this scenario once I got good at the game I didn’t find it really challenging until you got to this morning first time ya really feel tested.
I wish we had more of these videos
can you make a video about parkitect? Like forest frontiers, but parkitect?
I take this as a birthday present, thank you
Im litteraly playing dinky park while watching this😂
When is White Water Park coming Marcel, and are you going to complete it using ONLY water rides / no adverts as the challenge?
I'd love to see you compare RCT1/2 mechanics to RCT3 at some point, because I'm very curious how it differs besides the obvious parts (graphics, interface, etc.).
And RCT1/2 to Classic.
I am very happy with this play through.
Walled City of Kowloon RCT builds are the best RCT builds
Why not re-place the default rides before you start expanding ? And what is that odd blue and purple plateau I see every now and then before you place a new ride ? Is that default RCT ? I can't remember that from the times I played it.
I don't know if it's default but it shows up when holding shift while placing the station. It's so you can compare the height of the item you're placing with the surrounding area.
How do you stack rides on top of each other? Is that a mod?
I never liked real roller coasters but I do love these sims and had fun as a kid with rct2. Also why would guests ever leave your park? Did you accidentally not trap them?
I love the dense parks you make!
You make it look easy. I HATE building vertically. Building rides and paths so high gets very confusing, It's hard to navigate b/c of the isometric view and limited zoom. :/
How many rides did we fit in Pokey Park?
Guest 1:" I'm not paying that much for Looping Roller Coaster 1. Marcel: Help me. Guest 1: it's too expensive I'm not paying 10.00$ for Looping Roller Coaster 1. Marcel: REEEEEEEEEE! * Karate chops 17 benches in half and mangles 45 lampposts and bins. Guest 1: the vandalism here is bad.
Yaay I played Pokey Park like a month ago and also didn't expand. =]
How many balloons??
Christ, imagine the noise
The missing supports of the swinging suspended coaster really ruin the look. =(
But as always great video! :D Do you have the flue?
I was ill when recording this yes.
@@MarcelVoshope u r better now :D
This is ... Sorcery.
Hello everyone
And welcome to
another episode of
Imagination mega park
Favorite series ❤
Hello Marcel nice vidéo as usual but I give you challenge do dense Park but only underground !!!!
Kowloon Walled Park.
Please upload your "overcrowded" Pokey Park!
Isn't this the last lvl?
i noticed your voice is a bit different. did you get a new mic or something?
Marcel said in another comment he felt a bit sick when recording
Kowloon Walled City theme park
Is this playthrough dead? That would be a shame.
If you're watching on pc. Press 6 for Deez...
Moooooooore!
I would love to see if rct can be beaten if everything is €0.10 the lowest you can charge.
So what's the myth, Marcel? 😅
100% of guests following signs is pretty unique. That should be tweaked to mirror humanity a bit. 1% of guests should completely ignore all rules. Which can be brought down to .5% if there's strategically placed guards in the area. (Bonus: it goes up to 2-5% if they have a red stat, that they're seeking to resolve. Like hunger, thirst, bathroom, thus are impatient.)
Of course, the AI needs to be better to implement this, because these signs and guides are only there to control these dumbasses in the first place. Lol. An obvious path should make sense in the game, but it doesn't somehow.
7:25
Isn't that illegal? You can't delete trees on land you don't own! Not even Construction Rights.
I am like number 406
Pokey park? Why call it that?
