This video took so damn long to make and edit. So very often I had finished editing another coaster type, only to discover there was still something wrong with what I'd built so I'd have to do it again. There will definitely still be a few small mistakes in this video, but I did the best I could. You can download the parks with the icon setups in the description.

Extra kudos to Marcel for getting the timing perfect for multi-train icons. It is darn inconvenient that the guests won't wear the same shirt and pants for the recreation as they did in the icon.
I mean, that's more just setting it up to be self sufficient and hitting a speed up button. This is like a Where's Waldo, except sometimes Waldo isn't even on the page and you have to draw him yourself.
Funyn thing is that in RCT1, the splash screen you'd get when inserting the RCT 1 cd was also an image of Megawrold Park before Loopy Landscapes was even in the works (Added Attractinos/Corkscrew Follies wasn't out either). In RCT1 even more of the rollercoaster icons and I think flat rides are from Megaworld Park. I think Megaworld Park must've been a test park of some kind.
And Mega Park (the original 100% completion reward) is literally just Megaworld Park with all the attractions deleted and the starting camera angle and objective changed.
I know the Corkscrew Coasters original icon was from Mega world park, but I can't remember any others that were different in the original RCT. I totally believe your theory on the park being a test park of some sort.
Also, another fun fact, kinda, is that the prebuild Wooden Rollercoaster "Mischief" is also in Megaworld park, but it is slightly expanded with a WAter Splash and is called Rotting Lumber.
Would love to see this done for the RCT1 coaster icons (the few that are different) - or even the fun scenes on the back of the box (I believe I saw someone on Reddit do a recreation of a few). Man it was such a treat to unlock parks like Southern Sands and Megaworld Park and suddenly see these rides you'd been looking at for the whole game.

I've always been curious about the shops actually! Whenever I'd make a scenario I would always see the extravagant icon and be like "Ooh, I want that area in my park! Oh, and that.... and that too!"

@@marsandbars I'd avoid using microcoasters and the like for playing casually. Use some optimizing, such as charging 10 bucks instead of 3 for rollercoasters, but don't just spam microcoasters when you're playing through the scenarios, that gets boring real fast.
I'm in the exact same boat. Kind of considering getting the game but not really that sold that I'd enjoy playing it myself. But this is my #1 most watched channel by a mile at the moment
I like to play the scenarios co op, and when we run out of money when 2 ppl are each working on a coaster we do some microcoaster spam for extra income from the added guest cap increase and the price you can charge for the coasters

It was a fun time watching you catalog your progress in the Discord server. Nice to see the fruits of your labor put to good use. The conspicuous artificiality of some of your setups is as clever as it is hilarious, and I'd love to see you do the rest of the rides.
Here's an idea: a custom scenario with each of sections of the custom coasters, where the rest of the track sections are deleted. And the park goal would be completing those coasters with a minimum excitement rating. I'm not sure how you could prevent deleting the required scenery. But I think it would be super cool to see how different people compete them!
90% of the scenery is large enough to be a "tree", so outlaw tree removal and that would keep most of the scenery. fences and smaller gardens or one-tile scenery would be damned, but since most are just a couple of trees, that's no big deal.
Yeah, I certainly would like to see the non-coaster-types. Maybe split it into "custom buildable" and "non-custom buildable + stalls" ones, if all at once is too much for one video.
This is amazing. Even the slightest pixel of flowers or anything is in the images. And when the background involves custom build hills, i can only imagine the pain 😅
This video is absolutely exquisite. It hits home for me in particular due to how similar it is to my biggest hobby: working on a perfect full size replica of the Back to the Future Delorean Time Machine. Obviously this has absolutely nothing in common with roller coasters or RCT on the surface, but it lines up with this specific video pretty closely believe it or not. There's a lot of unknown things with how the original cars were built that you have to scour through reference to find hints about or make recreations to approximate what you see. And most of the time, you get interesting little tidbits of knowledge for how the originals were done that varies from what you'd expect and that must have changed over time, like that scenery item clearance check you mentioned. It also repeatedly makes you scratch your head and ask "But why did they do it this way instead of just doing this", much like how they had all those Wooden Coaster prebuilds to use and still opted to use one twice. Anyway, absolutely killer video, would love to see ones for the other ride icons

I tried to do this with a friend recently for RollerCoaster Tycoon 1, a lot were from the Mega World Park. I've never been able to figure out what the wall texture is for RCT1's drink stall, it almost looks like a beta texture of what would become the sand brick wall
This thought popped up in my mind from time time lol. I assumed they were all screenshots from pre-made parks though. Great video!!!! Please do the non-coaster rides/stalls aswell!

As a kid, I actually wondered where the Drinks Stall icon came from. There is a brick-like wall in the background (which seems to be elevated terrain) which I was pretty sure don't exist as official items or scenarios in the game.
Leave the Mini Suspended Coaster alone! Leave it alone! In all seriousness, though, nice video! I remember having discussions like this on the OpenRCT2 Discord as well. Would love to see a followup episode with the non-coaster icons. I would also love to see one on the RCT1 icons. At least a few of those were also taken in Megaworld Park (from which follows that it must have been in development since before the base game’s release!). Maji and I could probably very easily help you with those. Especially since Maji already recreated many custom parks for this kind of thing. There are also some OpenRCT2-specific bonus icons for ported RCT1 vehicles, mostly created by Maji and Spacek.
I did see that it was being worked on in the OpenRCT2 Discord. Plenty of people have requested a second video, so I'll definitely be doing that sometime in the future.
Marcel dude Never stop making these. The attention to detail is always mesmerizing. However I did notice the Mine Train Coaster’s secondary colors are actually different in the park than the thumbnail, in the park it’s nearly black and the thumbnail it’s grey
Yes, i've always wondered where they were taken. Yes you should also do the non coaster ones, I'm especially interested in the go karts. I don't know what's happening there but it almost looks like a kart is crashing. Which is impossible afaik.
I checked on how many Icons from both games were just in Megaworld park alone, and I found roughly 29 separate icons + 2 duplicates + 1 that was likely placed in the park for the image only. The duplicates were the Dodgems and Log Flume, which were taken in eoughly the same exact spot between 1 and 2.
Really enjoyed this one, so much thought out into something I’ve never thought about!! I would definitely watch one on recreations of stalls and flat rides also!

Almost all RCT1 coaster icons are different from RCT2’s. The difficulty is that many of these might have been taken in unreleased parks.

Finding the perfect angle and background reminds me a lot of solving a jigsaw puzzle with lots of similar pieces 😆

A lot of the RCT1 rides have different icons from their RCT2 counterparts, like the looping/steel roller coaster, due to the different cars!
The challenges making this video are so similar to the ones when putting a jigsaw puzzle together!
