    Slav mod, Yes, it exists

  • @AlshainFR
    @AlshainFR 3 роки тому +80

    Use OpenMW. It's a mod that basically replaces the Morrowind engine with another, fanmade new one. It allows you to play with huge render distances or with mods like Tamriel Rebuilt (wich is still work in progress) which adds whole new provinces of Tamriel you can travel to.
    Also the Bosmer joke refers to the facts that Wood Elf religion is reverse veganism: they are forbidden to harm plants, so they're strictly carnivorous and practice ritual cannibalism. They will eat the corpses of their ennemies after battle to absorb their strength, and when grandpa dies, the whole family comes together to partake in grandpa and honour him by absorbing his wisdom

    It's painting called "Saturn Devouring His Son".
    -
    Yes. You start. It's happened so often that they included The Prisoner as metaphysical lore concept.
    -
    No, player character is not god. They're "just" reincarnation of ancient hero. And even that's left open to interpretation, whether they actually are or not.

      Added Note on Saturn Devouring His Son. The joke is that Bosmer (Wood Elves) are *canonically* cannibalistic. The series doesn't bring it up *much* but it's totally there in the in-game literature. Even in Skyrim.

    4:06 you DONT start daggerfall as a prisoner, in fact you basically start it as an elite secret agent of the empire out to secure one of its provinces on the edge of chaos.
    every other mainline game though... you do start as a prisoner.
    even the first one, where you are basically the emperor's second in command, but you start... well, at the bottom of a dungeon stuck in a cell.

      Best game intro. You start as a hobo with a sword, sleeping through the day in sewer, getting molested by rats.

  • @James_Wisniewski

    You start Arena as a prisoner as well. You don't in Daggerfall because you're a secret Imperial agent sent by the emperor to stop a dead king from terrorizing everyone and prevent the emperor's steamy erotica from reaching the eyes of innocent children everywhere. Instead, you get trapped in a cave by a storm. It's functionally the same thing, but you're not "technically" a prisoner.

    The painting for Bosmers is "Saturn devouring his son" because Boomers aren't allowed to eat plants or use wood in canon.
    This means they are purely carnivorous and in addition, they practice cannibalism and are religiously obliged to eat all their felled foes on the battlefield (their family is allowed to partake in their kills too).
    Cute little woodelves :D

      Bosmers actually can eat plants and use wood, but only if these aren't native to Valenwood. So, nothing stops a Bosmer from eating a carrot that grew in Skyrim.

    Morrowind has possibly one of the most non-conventional leveling systems in rpg - which is, you level progression depends on how much money you have
    You can go and manually (and slowly)((and inefficiently)) rise your skills, but you can also pay trainers to train you. And - unlike Oblivion - you are not restricted at how much training you can do per level. Meaning, if you got cash - you can instantly level up for 10-20 levels at a time. Plus, there are few ways to get money fast in this game (like capturing daedra souls), so technically - you always progress at a pace you want. I really like this aspect of morrowind

    • @godo2712
      @godo2712 3 роки тому +7

      not to mention, Morrowind has great atmosphere and music, and guilds are actually playing big role there; it's really a damn good dame, even without any mods.

      guild quests were my fav in oblivion

    • @James_Wisniewski

      Whenever I start a game, I always sleep outside the cave near Seyda Neen until a Dark Brotherhood assassin attacks me (because I have all the DLC packs installed), kill him, take his gear, and sell it all to Creeper in Caldera for thousands of gold, then go to whichever guild trains the skills I've specced into for that playthrough and level grind until I run out of money (I also always do athletics because the base speed is garbage). That usually sets me up pretty well for the first 10 or so hours of the game.
      I do have a correction, though. You can't do it infinitely. You can only train a skill up to the current level of whichever stat governs it (or something like that; it's been a while so I don't remember exactly how it works). Still gives you a lot of leeway, though.

    • @godo2712
      @godo2712 3 роки тому

      @@James_Wisniewski well, "indefinitely" as far as possible, yes
      you don't need to sleep near cave though; i got attacked while sleeping even in Mage Guild quarters; i think it doesn't matter where you sleep
      as for money, i prefer doing couple of quests for Mages and then stealing Sol Crystal (which costs around 6000) when trader goes away (mission scripted event). Bless creeper for existing. Alternatively, soul gems trader in vivec has entire room full of expensive stuff, and it's easy to get there past him and get 10k more
      but the point is - yeah, it's nice when you think that you loot translated directly into xp; motivates you steal moer stuff :^)

    Morrowind legit have what I love the most from RPG
    'Speed' attribute that reflect how fast you walk/run around
    Spell making, which make mage build much more creative and fun to play
    Multiple armor slots to wear, and stabby weapon
    And the best part of all, bizarre fantasy land and architecture, and Ultra+ xenophobic culture experience
    It's a shame TES game get more shallow every new game come out(I'm not against streamlining, I love skyrim but when your game combat narrow down to left click spam, there's something wrong)
    I hope TES VI have more fun mechanics like morrowind does while still keep the skill floor low as they want.

    • @muffinman2546
      @muffinman2546 3 роки тому +1

      I mean, Morrowind kinda is left-click spam for the first few hours until you can get good with agility and weapon proficiencies.
      At least spells are linear and simple when it comes to chance-based combat since all you really need is a high magic skill, enough magicka to cast the spell and enough fatigue.
      It's much easier to get to 100% chance on spells than it is for physical attacks.
      I also just hate how Bethesda neuters off many features such as skills being tied to your character's attributes like Intelligence for max magicka.

      @@muffinman2546 that's the thing, there's actually something behind those click spam like damage and attribute mechanic you can play and exploit around, with skyrim its just almost all gone, only perks and alchemy/enchant left, which isn't anything deep at all.

      Let me tell you a story about my first adventure with every new game I make.
      -
      I make a good character with decent skills, always taking steed birthsign because it's too convenient to pass up.
      I head out and give the ring to Fargoth only to steal it back and not turn in the nord's quest.
      I went out to the cave behind the rocks near the silt strider because I want good combat skills.
      -
      The first rogue is always easy, featuring a chitin dagger and little to no armor besides boots.
      It's the second foe that is always problematic because if the mage as much as hit me with one spell, I'll die instantly.
      -
      This part of the game is meant to teach players of their staggering vulnerability to the world but if they can overcome him, players are almost guaranteed to get open lock scrolls and possibly a soul trap scroll.
      -
      This game wishes for you to exploit it and overcome the steep obstacles for when you do, you're always infinitely rewarded with great loot. UNLIKE Skyrim that has edgy necromancers and milk-drinking bandits littered across the dungeons that give little to no challenge and pathetic loot for overcoming whatever challenge you do encounter.
      -
      Even the chest in the lighthouse of Seyda Neen are guaranteed to have a two-handed beast of a weapon and the game dares you to wield it against your enemies only for you to miss 90% of the time because of not being skilled in a weapon type you're not proficient of.
      -
      - [rant about story]
      Now that I think of it. It is also to mention HOW DAMN MUCH you have to prove others that you're the prophesied incarnate. HOW DAMN MUCH you have to do to earn your keep. And it wasn't some stupid dungeon raid for the Horn of Jurgen windcaller. It wasn't some salty & naive Blades bitch that needed all the proof in the world that you're the dragonborn while cork-screwing our boy Paarthunax because "he's evil".
      -
      If I EVER need to choose between the Elder Scrolls games. It's 1000% Morrowind and it's OpenMW community extension. Being able to craft 100 potions with one button is also a big plus.

    You start as an agent of the emperor in Daggerfall if my memory is right. And i think you start free in Redguard as well, havent played that one though so not a 100% sure on that one. On morrowinds combat you love it or hate it, i like it once you understand the stats and their effects and racials you can start a character that pretty much wont miss on level 1. I also much prefer this way of character building since it disconnects it from me in way that alows much greater role play. you start as a nobody and can turn your self in a good through ingame mechanics and exploits of course. Plus a lot more things Romancing a sweet khajit being on of them no furry of course she is just soo sweet ;3
