Dave, you are like only the second guy on UA-cam that explains the whole song, most people show you bits and pieces but never enough to complete the song. Thank you. I am now confident with practice I can complete this song and actually make it sound like the song it is. Thank you.
Hi Lindy - thank u so much for ur kind words - u made my night and I so appreciate ur kind words on my teachings - means the world to me. Great job, this is 5th video I clicked on before I even found a guy who got the first chord right! But you went on to do the rest properly as well and even mentioned the live variations.

Thanks man, I've tried to learn how to play guitar for 30 years but between work and kids I never had a guy like you I could sit down with and actually show me how it's done. I sure this is simple stuff you you but it opens the door for beginners like me. Thanks for posting the videos they are greatly appreciated.

Great lesson! From what I read, the band only used a 12-string guitar played by Glenn Frey on the recording, making it sound like a few guitars playing. It gave it a full, extended sound with the extra six notes. Beautiful tune!
Hi - yes, I heard that also bout the 12 string on that song - very cool indeed. And thank u so much for your kind words and for watching this lesson - really appreciated. Nice lesson. Explaining variations help people determine their comfort zones and having the knowledge of variants can perpetuate growth in melody making to a higher level. Have 50 years of stage time and this is the first time someone shows the patience of explaining both tunings and the variables to the degree that's understandable to a novice and professional. Great job.

Excellent instruction and detail on a song that is average when played with the standard chords, much more interesting when played with more embellishment like you've explained here!

nice. this helps me understand some of the tabs i've seen. i've got a simplified version for now (just a humble beginner who can't play barre chords yet) but when i grow up i want to play it this way :)
right on Bruce - stick with it and keep chipping away and eventually you will get to the barre chords and master them just like you are working on the open chords - you can do it! Hey Dave how are you?😁 haven't talked to you in awhile, but I've been watching your videos and learning a lot.i noticed strumming with acoustic they use the pickguard as a snare hit or goes along with the snare hit, and I learned it on my own just by listening and I can do it.😎 cuz I'm a drummer.😀 making pretty good progress because of people like you I appreciate it thank you.,and God bles.
Hey there - good to hear from you and thank u for reaching out and also for ur support and watching my videos - so appreciated. Glad to help and glad that u r liking the lessons. Yes, using the body or part of the guitar for drum sounds like the snare or bass is an awesome technique that you can take a long way. Really fun and great sounding for sure. Stay tuned - lots more to come. Keep up all that hard work on that guitar. Take care, and rock on! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc. & EGI
@@EpicGuitarInstruction I've actually learned how to do the tapping part of eruption in Ed's soloing I'm very amazed at myself, and that tricky little hammer on in Love Walks in, you know the intro pretty much the whole song. but I think you know what I'm talking about you hammer on from the middle finger with the ring finger. tricky for someone that's not super advanced.😎
awesome! Yeah that tapping lick is cool! All of Eddies licks are cool for that matter - such the epic player - miss him. Glad to hear you are making such stellar progress on the guitar. Thats great news - keep up all that hard work on that guitar and keep having fun with it! Take care, and rock on! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc. & EGI
Your awesome breaking it down.. love how you help fill it in as much as possible and how you explain.. glad you teach as chords and not as frets.. and strum teaching..

I really appreciate your understanding of chord structure and how depending on how a common fingering position is being used in a progression determines what the name of the chord is . I think it’s best to learn how to play songs by ear rather than just copying someone else’s work but I learned a lot from this one and I will definitely be back for more. Thumbs up and subbed. Thank you!

Hey David, awesome lesson, I started my guitar journey with your next level guitar channel about 13years ago. I love these new lessons on this channel. I am wondering if it would be possible to play the song through at the end, or maybe verse, chorus and bridge. Keep up the great work.

Hi John - you can always change the key of the song to suit your vocal range better - use a capo or just tune down from the original key. You can also tune the guitar down to Eb and play the song like regular and that gives you a half step flat. My voice is pretty low so generally I bring the key down or tune to Eb. Hope that helps - let me know if you have any follow up questions - try Eb tuning - really helps. Enjoy and stay tuned - lots more lessons and content coming soon. Hey David, this is a great lesson! Sounds great for just one guitar and I can mostly play it. I like that I can play one of my favorites and it actually sounds pretty good! Help me on some theory, which leaves me mostly confused. You show the first chord as a Cmaj9, but wouldn’t the 9th be a D? I don’t see a D being played in that chord. Any clarification would be appreciated as I struggle to grasp the theory of guitar playing. Your lessons are awesome, well paced and very well explained. Thanks for what you do.
Hi Steve and thank u so much for your kind words - really appreciated and so glad that u like the video lesson. Yeah, that Cmaj9 chord is played with an open D string - that sounds a D note and D is the 2nd or 9th in the key of C - so that chord 330000 has the notes G,C,D,G,B,E - so in the key of C major (C D E F G A B) it has the 1 or C, the D which is the 9th, the E which is the 3rd, the G which is the 5th, the B which is the 7th - so the notes in the chord interval wise are 1,3,5,7,9 - that is a major 9 chord - has the major chord 1 3 5 plus the added maj 7 and 9th - so major 9. Does that make sense? Hope that helps to clear it up. Let me know if you have any follow up questions on that as I know the theory can be a tad confusing. Let me know too if you want more theory info and I can send you some written materials that may help. Keep up all that hard work on that guitar - Take care, and rock on! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc. & EGI
@@EpicGuitarInstruction hey David, thanks for the reply. I must be fretting it wrong because the D string isn’t open. I’ll take another look at the video try to see what I missed. From SW Georgia to California, have a great day and thanks for what you do!

I never had any luck with Taylors, I hear no bass from that guitar, not sure if it was customed that way, for the price you pay, you should be getting more bass. Maybe just a bad recording
My GS is same way,"Tinnie"....His is a great model,I wonder if it is the strings? those lite Elixirs. I have a few and my Ibanez hardwood series is far more bass tone.

Great lesson! From what I read, the band only used a 12-string guitar played by Glenn Frey on the recording, making it sound like a few guitars playing. It gave it a full, extended sound with the extra six notes. Beautiful tune!

Great job.

Hey David, awesome lesson, I started my guitar journey with your next level guitar channel about 13years ago. I love these new lessons on this channel. I am wondering if it would be possible to play the song through at the end, or maybe verse, chorus and bridge. Keep up the great work.
thansk Jim - really appreciate your kind words and support over all these years. Man, I have been posting lessons online now since 2005 - over 17 years - pretty crazy how the time flies! I do play the song thru when I have the time but often in trying to keep the lessons short as possible I dont have enough time for full play throughs. Hi Dave you say this song is too high for your voice how can you change it to suit your voice capo??? Thanks so much class lesson.😀😀
@@EpicGuitarInstruction hey David, thanks for the reply. I must be fretting it wrong because the D string isn’t open. I’ll take another look at the video try to see what I missed. From SW Georgia to California, have a great day and thanks for what you do!
no prob Steve - take care and keep on rocking!
I figured out what I was doing wrong and now I see the 9th in the chord. Thanks again.
no prob Steve - enjoy and rock on! -David T, NLG

I finger pick when I can, adds more bassy tone..
I play much Bob Seger and need that
Too complicated for this song 😢
David, you’re a great teacher!
