I love hearing JP talk about his music or gear, he really know the stuff he plays, and pays attention to small details. I hate seeing big name drummers that aren't very interested in the nuances of the gear they play.
@@JorshWarshington1 man what a great question there are just so many. I always really loved the way Jack DeJohnette could squeeze every bit of juice out of a snare on any number of Miles Davis albums. Also Brann Dailor’s snare on Blood Mountain blows my mind. What about you?

I met JP years ago when I was a roadie for another band that opened for Clutch. Couldn't have been a nicer guy, was totally into talking drums and music before he went on stage. Oh and uh....helluva damn good drummer , definitely one of my inspirations as a fellow drummer

He is a drummer that is worried bout how those snares are tied and how it sound, he is all for the more vintage sound and looks, pretty specifc stuff. Só it works for him for his sound. Jazz drummers and guys from older generations dont muffle drums too often
