Exploring and fly fishing Idaho’s backcountry takes a lot of time, planning, and preparation, as you never know what flies you’ll need or the conditions you’ll face. We scouted out this stream over the winter months and saw that it could offer great opportunities in the spring to avoid high waters and possibly find some large rainbow trout. We hiked far and deep into this river, finding beautiful pools, runs, and water, but will we find the trout? Watch and find out!

I was thinking the same thing - enjoyed the video until I heard a speech with that fish out of the water for too many seconds. That can cause brain damage in the trout. Please, pal, I know you heart's in the right place - keep 'em wet! Release 'em facing upstream after being carefully revived.

Idaho backcountry is on par with Montana's, I'm so glad I live here, those rivers would be a great place for me to setup my hammock and chill for a few days.

@@FireflyFishing sometimes just not talking is better. You have good videography skills but the commentary when you’re playing a fish is also kinda lame. Perhaps it’s just the expressions of your age group, but you’re catching a beautiful fish in a beautiful setting and all you can say is “ sick, dude “ !!

Ever have issues with bears in the Idaho backcountry?
Absolutely! We have a tonnnn of bears, they are like bunnies out there. They are pretty skittish except for the Eastern Idaho grizzlies, they are another story!
