I think it's a really fitting ending for the setting. Both Portal games portray the testing tracks as a sort of polished up killing machine imo, lol. The dark humor is part of the setting, but we don't get upset about it cause we know it's all fictional and just for laughs.
I dunno Chet, sounds like a skill issue on the human's part if they all perish. Chell made it out just fine twice and she was alone. Now science on the other hand is going to be doing numbers!
So YOU were the responsible for that?! I would like to thank you Chet, for real, few things in my years and years of gaming surprised me more than the end of the co-op campaign. I remember very vividly my state of shock when it's revealed _there are more people in Aperture, and oh god...oh fuck GLaDOS is going to _*_kill_*_ them!_ Don't know about other people, but personally, I was so surprised with the end of the co-op as I was when Chell finally breaks free. The co-op campaign was amazing and it's end was unforgettable. Good times.
I feel like it works fine - With aperture being SO dystopian, GLaDOS killing a bunch of humans just for testing, caring not if theyre the last ones on earth? It's perfectly in character, and it's a really good bookend to the coop campaign - you feel slightly wrong about having helped glados, but meanwhile you've got this great celebratory music? It's a good joke.
I remember almost finishing the co-op with a friend but getting stuck on one of the last chambers, then later coming up with the solution out of nowhere and thinking about it all day until we could play again. And then after all that, the robots opened the vault, and I swear to god it being a bunch more humans for GLaDOS to torture to death was probably the best payoff that could’ve had. We laughed about that and just all of our stupid fun little mistakes and moments playing the game for weeks afterward, every part of that experience was just great. I wouldn’t have those memories without you and the other talented people that worked on Portal 2. Thanks a bunch for that man, they’re really great memories.
Don't apologize for something that can and has happened in the real world. Portal 1 is also a genocide. We are adults and can have these conversations. Comedy is just a coping mechanism we have. Use it.
In a way, this kind of is validating as a fledgling writer. You had a awful day with your best friend and it still somehow inspired you. Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing. I think the punchline of GlaDOS killing everyone does work, though.
Given Aperture's intelligent incompetence, I think it was still on brand for GLaDOS to do what she did, not explicitly saying the term "genocide". It was also mentioned that all the test subjects were killed within a week or two? Even if that line didn't specifically make it, apertures history and track record would Beck up the situation with the test subjects anyway. Thank you for your work on the games you've been a part of! You've affect so many lives in great ways, Chet. Hope you know that!
It’s funny, and very on brand. I really doubt anyone would be mad about glados killing a bunch of fictional people. The Co-op campaign was great.

In the dlc story, GLaDOS outright says that she killed all the humans in like a week. So the joke is in the game, it’s just not phrased in that way.

Glados is typa robot to keep a few humans around so that she can mass produce and kill more

why did I think they made a caveman science society inside aperture

It could be the last humans on earth? I always thought that half life was cannon with portals story.
