+Room 32 ha! Thanks man. I appreciate it. I will say that I watch videos all the time and I’m equally as bad at hitting the thumbs up. At least folks are watching.
How big of a little dude are you? If you can stand on and shake it and it doesn't buckle, I'd say you're good to go! Depending on the piece of course. Killer work, I dig it, man!
What's that parked on your tablesaw fence? Looks like Captain America Cthulhu...Nice build Chris - that maple is hot. Nailed the keywords in the intro voiceover man!
Hi Adam. How is your table now? Any issues after few years outdoor, especially at wood/concrete contact line? I consider making similar design for my kitchen countertop.
So there are issues… but not at the specific line you’re addressing. Be wary of your spouse placing anything hot on the epoxy. Mine let a citronella candle in a metal bucket burn on it all night. Epoxy melted under it. If you do it for a countertop I would strongly enforce trivets in the household.
How did this hold up? I have some black walnut pieces that I need to use, and I really want to do a table this way. With the expansion/contraction of the wood, do you have any separation or did the epoxy maintain its adhesion to the concrete?
The epoxy maintained its adhesion but… do not place anything hot on the epoxy without a trivet of some kind… wife let a citronella candle burn to the base of the can and well… it created problems.
Great design, inspired lots of ideas for creative use of mixed mediums. Also a great video details both how and why of all the steps! One question: why not embed the inlaid plywood under the table top right into the concrete to ensure an even top?
Top is going to be even either way based on the mold. But yes I could have embedded the plywood substrate directly into the concrete if I wanted to. Probably would have been better to use marine grade plywood in that instance.
I'm just gonna be honest here but the legs make it look like a cheap quality table. The edges on the top arent very smooth at all. I dunno I can't get behind this one.
I came here for the great design and DIY. I got a good laugh at "master caulk handler". All this caulk talk got me laughing like a 5th grader. Great work!
Beautiful work, I've been experimenting with GFRC as well. You certainly have an eye for detail and it's nice to see a true craftsman at work. I didn't know about the real milk tung oil and will have to try it on my next piece.
One thing I’ll say about Gfrc is that you should definitely err on the side of thicker. I’ve had some smaller pieces snap if you’re picking them by the edge instead of supporting it properly. Tung oil is great. I’ve been using it as more of a furniture finish lately. I’ve started to layer on thinner coats which helps with cure times and better protection, instead of just dumping the bottle on there like I did. About 10-12 thin coats over a week or so does the trick.
I have another question, obviously getting ready to buld this. What exactly what the modifies that he mixed with the concrete? sorry didnt see all that info on your blog
It’s a GFRC concrete mix. The company I got it from doesn’t ship but there’s a company called fish stone (worth a google) that makes a similar product line... and they do ship. I’d shoot them a call and they’ll set you up with everything you need. The modifier is basically a catalyst.
Great job brother, I just found your channel and it's awesome to see another sfla hobbyist woodworker. I do have a question where do you get your hardwood lumber from ? I'm in Palm Beach County and I'm having a hard time finding some good quality stuff.
Hey man! So if it's dimensional hardwoods you're looking for I've got two spots here in Fort Lauderdale: Leon General Hardwoods and Woodchip Lumber. They're about a stone's throw from each other. If you're looking for live edge slabs my friend PJ Fetscher @pj_fetscher on instagram is a good source. He's a local sawyer.
If you want access to some of the tools, check out my amazon storefront: www.amazon.com/shop/cowdogcraftworks
Nice job !!!
Thank you!
Master caulk handler.... Well, now I know what the logo will be for top patron tier t-shirts 🤣 great video and build all around!
Modustrial Maker thanks man! Master caulk beader was a close second
Where would I find this caulk talk? Would love to learn the techniques?.
Phil Mason check out Modustrial maker’s channel. Almost in every video.
Nice use of the card scraper. Clutch 😁
I interestingly enough have never used a card scraper on epoxy ever again after this video.
Only 63 likes out of 2533 views, the like button must be really tough for people to press nowadays. LOL. Thank you for sharing this great project.

Great job! The piece is awesome......5 STAR.
Daniel Bregar i appreciate that! It’s my personal table too so it’ll probably make a cameo in some upcoming videos.
I love this! I really want to make a concrete table now! Amazing work 👍🏽
Joseph Gerber it definitely helps to make friends with a guy that’s done concrete countertops before. Haha
Love it!
Much appreciated my dude
Looking super good!! I see you flexing with all those trendy techniques there :)
Beauty and the Bolt haha thank you. I like to operate in the trendy yet classic realm.
That's a really nice looking table. I like how you attached the top to the legs. I am going to have to use that for one of my projects.
James Fullingim thanks James! Wood movement isn’t really a priority here so the mending strap option was a simple choice.
I love this table man. I think I might have to try and build one for our house now.

Ha yeah this was an oldy. I was probably about 130 lbs there. I’m closer to 145 now.
Very nice man! Well done!
Thank you!
Very nice!
Thank you!
Sweet video bro. Love the edit. 👍👍👍👍
Rustic Grain Designs just trying to keep it fun around here!
This is siccc, is that how that works?
YouCanMakeThisToo yes... that is EXACTLY HOW THIS WORKS
Very nice
Thanks!

Honestly one of my favorite builds - the combination of the wood and concrete is just incredible! Really great video Chris...keep them coming!
Ethan Carter it’s really all about dat base doe...
Where can I buy the non leveling epoxy please.
Google: total boat
Was this too hot to touch during mid summer?
No it’s fine.
How did this do in the heat? Get too hot?
See previous answer.
Where can I buy this at ?
Unfortunately not for sale.

Luckily I’ve made about twenty other videos after this.
So let's hear the caulk jokes?
Maybe on the next caulk video

Ha! Thank you kindly.
Nice job, Chris! Love how that turned out! I think the dark concrete with that maple slab was the perfect combo.
Hopefully it doesn’t get too hot there during the summer picnics! I imagine that color sucks up heat.

trying to figure out exactly what you put in the hopper when you sprayed before putting the concrete on top

@@drinc21 got a new video dropping in the morning. Hope you check it out.

🤷🏽♂️
Great stuff dude!
Thanks Adam for the support!
