Wonderful release and an excellent, informative video. They really knocked it out of the park with this one, I hoping they develop it into a whole Casiotron collection, that would be amazing.

Received mine today here in Mumbai, India, and cannot hold myself back from looking at it over and over again - beautiful design, stellar display and awesome bracelet - it's all there. As a Casio fan, and a watch collector, I couldn't be happier! The best digital watch money can buy. Period. This is made in Japan bottom up, and the build quality completely justifies the price.

I really really like this watch but if Casio can put a sapphire crystal on a $140 Edifice (the EFRS108D-2BV) then why can’t they put a sapphire crystal on this $500 watch (and on their steel squares for that matter)?

I privately brought this up with Casio. They are aware that most enthusiasts want a sapphire crystal. According to them, using one greatly increases the cost of the watch - something that needs to be passed on to consumers. Much of the time the conclusion is that consumers would probably rather have a lower cost than all the materials and features they want. Casio's team tries to artfully blend retail price with features. Few products are perfect in that regard, and that's why companies keep coming out with new blends of ideas, prices, and executions each year.

I just bought the gold and blue version and love it as it matches my gold wedding band and seeing I got my first watch at the end of 1973 and started being really interested in 1974, it's a special thing for me.
I was on the cusp of the digital watch revolution as Hamilton released the Pulsar time computer in 1973 and of course Roger Moore wore one as James Bond. My eyes were thus opened to digital watches making the K-mart manual wind Sonora my mum gave me at Christmas '73 seem rather lame TBH. I first became aware of LCD watches in 1974 and remember seeing them advertised in late 1974, early 1975.
Remember, these were a premium watch back in the 70's and were very expensive to buy. I have calculated that the new editions are priced in a similar way as the originals taking into account inflation. Combined with modern materials, movements etc make it a winner for me.
The price may be high to some, but Casio price their watches close to the production cost, unlike some more exclusive brands with extensive markups due to marketing.

Thanks for your Review. I would have bought this watch if it had a sapphire glass. Yes, it adds cost but I think anyone wanting to buy this watch would happily pay an additional cost for Sapphire.
I recently bought the G-Shock 40th Anniversary Book and can't wait to get it. I like your reviews and looking forward to your Book :)

I was too late to get myself one.
However, it would be cool to know if any original ones are still running and perhaps in use :)
