I agree with you T3. This is the opposite of what they do with the anniversary edition G Shock squares. They give you beautiful, modern cases and finishes but leave the basic module inside instead of upgrading it like they did here with the Casiotron. I think this watch should've had at least 100m WR.

It’s not cheap but if you consider they had to redesign it, they had to set up the tooling for the run of 4000 and lots of other stuff to make this watch. 4000 watches, multiplied by $500, that’s 2M. Sure, they will make decent profit on them but not as much as they have on watches that cost $30 and they would have sold hundreds of thousands of them. Probably one of Casio’s least profitable watches. Not my cup of tea but for the guys who like the design, I think it’s a fair deal 👍

It's got a full stainless case, it's an STN LCD, mb6/solar/Bluetooth link, looks great - all the things that Casio nerds want - of course it won't be cheap. The price isn't crazy, it's a similar module to the full metal square, which is around that price. Only bummer is the low WR and the limited run.
I love this watch but I couldn’t pay $500 for it. I’d get an Oceanus T200 instead, also has Bluetooth and radio atomic time, 100 meters water resistance, and legit luxury level case finishing, and you can get one for about $400.
I love it. I think it's really pretty. I collect vintage Casiotrons and I love them for their retro designs. I don't even mind that it doesn't have sapphire crystal or 200m water resistance. But for $500, the TRN-50 is just far too expensive. The scalpers can have this one. I'd rather get a metal GShock.
Received mine today here in Mumbai, India, and cannot hold myself back from looking at it over and over again - beautiful design, stellar display and awesome bracelet - it's all there. As a Casio fan, and a watch collector, I couldn't be happier! The best digital watch money can buy. Period. This is made in Japan bottom up, and the build quality completely justifies the price.

Totally agree any + points totally washed away by the price and water resistance went on holiday and saw in a shop the original for about $80 recently think it's worth driving the 240 mile round trip to see if they still have it rather than buy this!
Seems like half the review was knocking the water resistance which to me is moot on this type of watch. Will be curious to see what folks think about the build quality and the bracelet in particular after they handle it, but my initial impression is $249 would be the absolute limit on price. $500 because it's "limited" feels way over the top.
you are right about there being a lot of GShocks that you would want to buy before you spend $500 on this. But....that is not a fair comparison. This Casio reissue serves an entirely different purpose than a GShock. This Casio looks like you should wear it to the office, whereas a GShock is what you wear in the field (military, law enforcement, construction, etc.). Having said that, there are also a dozens of other watches suitable for the office environment for less than $500. So I'm not sure who this is for, other than someone that simply loves nostalgia.
I agree that for $500 it should come with sapphire crystal. I can also understand that you could get a 5610 for similar specs, but you are missing the point of what this watch is. This is an anniversary edition that harkens back to Casios first watch. It’s a collector piece, not something to go camping with. No one complained about the metal square G Shocks that cost $600 and were never limited/numbered. Yes they more water resistant but still have the same mineral crystal. Only the titanium squares have sapphire crystals and how much do they start at? Even in those, when is the last time they released a numbered special edition?
People keep banging on about water resistance! There is so much crap to be frank on the forums about this! For pretty much everyone who swims 50m is more than enough! In fact I use a cheap swatch 34mm 30m watch for swimming and 15 years later it still performs like new. The truth that nearly everyone either lies or denies about is that most will never get a watch wet apart from when they take wrist shots. Most keep the watch pristine as they know in six months they are going to flip it for another watch! Same with the obsession with Sapphire! Casio has said the reason behind this is that mineral crystals crack where as sapphire shatters into a million pieces. My preference is acrylic. Tough as nails and so easy to remove scratches.
I had the same reaction… I saw the watch and went wow 😯….. then I saw the water resistance and said hmmm 🤔 then I saw the price at the bottom and said 500 and I said ouch !! 😣 I still kinda want to buy one.. it’s limited to 4000 pieces and the 39mm is a sweet spot for my wrist.. might be worth it for those reasons to me
So if a reissue is so expensive and I tried to get one but all sold out and I’m sure I gave my original 70,s one away years ago wish i kept it as the early original ons are bringing anything up to 500) to $1200. Love its style.
Often times Casios Water resistance levels are on a different level: I’ve already taken an F91W with me on a 12m dive. And have worn it many times in water. It’s merely unbreakable with its 30m water resistance. Could be that the casiotron is similar in this regard… 🤷♂️
@@roadgent7921 Yeah those f91 are incredible. Eventually i wanna get myself a g Shock, however if it comestibles durability i think you really don’t need a g shock. But that's just not how consumers should allow this to work, is it now? We can't have companies tell us, 'We put this here number on it, but please generally disregard this here number and just be, like, 90% assured that it's actually better and 10% that it's maybe not.'

Naa, i think this can be a great testimonial of modern retro watch for the next 30 years. I mean in the affordable watch market. Bye bye
I would not pay more than 75 dollars for that watch. You can buy one for under 20 dollars that will do everything but the Bluetooth. I am like you I have 8 or 9 Gshock watches that are far less expensive than 500. Most are under 200
50 Meters is only good for handwriting??? Are you serious? You can go swimming and even snorkeling. most of us aren't going down 50 feet or even 150 feet. Wasing hands 😂😂
Nice piece BUT yeah $500 seems a bit much for it. And it should be AT LEAST 100m WR and at least sapphire crystal instead of mineral crystal. You can get a G-Shock with basically same functionality granted probably not steel case for under $200. You can get a steel Edifice with saphire crystal and at least 100m WR for under $150. This is a $250 to $300 Casio and if you want to add a slight premium because it's a limited edition anniversary piece maybe $350.
Are you kidding? This Casiotron is far superior to the Tissot, the module is infinitely more advanced, also the display has STN technology which makes it have better contrast and viewing angles while the Tissot has an ordinary LCD. The case is also superior with the screwed back cover instead of a simple snap-on cover of the Tissot, it's better finished, etc. Furthermore Casio has much more experience and knowledge in digital movements which will probably make it more reliable and durable. And then we have the design of the watch itself, the Casio has an original design and conceived to be a digital watch, while the Tissot is the same case as the analog PRX. Tissot could have made something much better, but they have gone for the easy way and made a watch that makes no sense at all, even the casio A1000 or the A1100 are a better choice than that digital PRX.
😅... Yep I always wash my hands in 164ft of water.... I submit any 50m watch could withstand the same treatment that ANY normal person would or could give a 200m watch, ie.. swimming in a pool or a lake....id be suprised if even a few ever get to 50 feet.
nah, i think it costs a bit too much and the water resistance is a joke. especially considering the metal square is, a bit cheaper if i remember rightly?
@@antyvirusuk8056 Originally it was 499€ for the standard stainless steel one, 549€ for the coloured versions, (gold, rose gold, red, black…) Nowadays they cost 50€ more.
It eludes me why I would need Bluetooth in a digital watch. Seems like total nonsense to me like : Oh it was available on the chip so we implemented it to increase battery wear ...
Don’t be silly. You are clearly not informed. Bluetooth is there to make a very short connection to your watch and calibrate the time. It won’t drain your battery in normal use…
@@mrgadget4863 Honestly, who doesn’t carry a smartphone around these days? So where lies the issue in connecting it to your watch? Or are you typing this on your pentium pc?
The A1000 and A1100 are digital Casios with full steel cases and basic modules, that can be found for around that price. They look very different but may be what you're looking for.

To save u 4 mins in your life, the watch is "overpriced" because of lack of higher water-resistant level 🙄 I mean, Isn’t it just enough to wash hands and get out in the rain with a watch? Is it necessary to wear it while swimming, diving, bathing or sauna?
@@lostalx this citizen watch u mentioned, does it have auto time correction function like multi-band 6 or Bluetooth connectivity? Does it have backlight? Is it limited with individual numbering? Does it pay homage to the very first citizen watch with original design? Does it have world time, stopwatch, timer, alarm clock, hourly signal, event reminder? Is the utility of a titanium case comparable with all the features above? Most importantly, a citizen geek with adequate budgets would never consider AW1660 simply because it’s relatively inferior among other citizen watches; but a Casio geek, even though he has owned several $4000 MRG watches, he would still want this TRN-50 simply for its historical value. So, if it’s still a ripoff to u, just buy the citizen 🤷♂️

I cant believe people think this watch is better or even close to the Tissot PRX Digital.
For the asking price of this….the Tissot PRX Digital is a freakin’ steal…!!! WTF Casio?
No thanks. I love my $40.00 A700. Incredible Casio watch!
It’s a bit more expensive.
@@e28forever30 i thought the metal 5000 was like, £450
@@antyvirusuk8056
Originally it was 499€ for the standard stainless steel one, 549€ for the coloured versions, (gold, rose gold, red, black…)
Nowadays they cost 50€ more.
I think it's a very cool looking piece, but not USD$500 cool.
I wanted it so bad but it is definitely not worth the money. For the price, i opted for a GMB2100 instead.
For 50 year's anniversary lets put the another 0 and voallla 5 Benjamin s 😅
It eludes me why I would need Bluetooth in a digital watch. Seems like total nonsense to me like : Oh it was available on the chip so we implemented it to increase battery wear ...
Don’t be silly.
You are clearly not informed.
Bluetooth is there to make a very short connection to your watch and calibrate the time.
It won’t drain your battery in normal use…
@@e28forever30 Still complete nonsense. So I need another device to set my watch. Maybe I have to run an app on my phone.
@@mrgadget4863
Honestly, who doesn’t carry a smartphone around these days?
So where lies the issue in connecting it to your watch?
Or are you typing this on your pentium pc?
I think they should have made it just a regular battery operated one and charged like $100 instead cuz i wouldnt mind picking it up for $100 not $500
The A1000 and A1100 are digital Casios with full steel cases and basic modules, that can be found for around that price. They look very different but may be what you're looking for.
If solar battery failed, we have to throw it, many casios I did same for solar, avoid solars
Nice Watch, BUT 50mt Water Resistant is dumb, give us at least 100mt. Also no Sapphire Glass, add these 2 things and you will sell plenty of them. I don't care about Limited Editions or what others thing about the price, I just want this Watch with 100mt + Sapphire Glass
No sapphire and the water resistance is a no go. For 500 they should have included those. Not Casio like.
100mtrs and Yes
agree
It looks like a digital PRX. I would not pay 350 for that one so there is no chance in hell I will pay 500 for this
It looks good, even the multiband six. I would rather spend my money elsewhere, especially since Casio has better offerings.
What do you mean by “even the Multiband 6”?
It's worth $100 if it had 100 meters WR. This is a cash grab. You really have to be swept away by the anniversary to pay $500!
Like most people her - it seems - I very much like the look of the watch. But 500 bucks 💰💰💰will be a dealbreaker for me😥😥😥. This one is even more expensive than the overpriced Tissot PRX digital. This looks more like CASIO wanting to cash in 💸💸💸 on its anniversary than celebrate it.🎉🎉🎉
At least this has a decent module inside.
0.3mm slimmer ?! 😮
I was going to buy it until I saw the price. Just not worth it and im a big Casio collector/fan
RADIO CONTROLLED NOT MUCH RETRO IN THAT ONE AND 500 DOLLARS OOOHHH
Why not add Radio Control?
At least the Japanese know how to do it, the Swiss are just lazy.
Even with the water resistant ratings at 100m it’s still overpriced at $500.
You can swim in an F91W, bet you could swim in this.
understand reissue but looks like it will be small
Honestly, nowadays,I wonder, overpriced or am I just poor?
I wouldn’t spend that much money on a watch with mineral glass. Happy anniversary, but this one’s not for me.
They are 🥜 at Casio 5bar at that price 😂
500 really
To save u 4 mins in your life, the watch is "overpriced" because of lack of higher water-resistant level 🙄 I mean, Isn’t it just enough to wash hands and get out in the rain with a watch? Is it necessary to wear it while swimming, diving, bathing or sauna?
Dude Citizen Super Titanium Armor has Eco Drive, 100M, Sapphire and DLC COATING. This is a rip off.
So, if it’s still a ripoff to u, just buy the citizen 🤷♂️
peace for geeks
The limited production run puts me off immediately. It will be snapped up by scalpers, to be offered for an idiotic price (like it's not expensive enough already). Casios should be for everyone. It's a no from me.
Overpriced indeed, what's with the tie dude!?
50m is more than enough for swimming, and most other things people actually do. It's a cool enough watch for people that like the look, but I'll pass...
I see them going for $999… not for me
love it, but the price is oof
I like everything about the watch ... but the 50 meters. Just like you. The $500.00 is also hard to swallow but I'm not buying it so who cares.
Your polish viewer.
This is a cash grab.. I was excited to hear about the casiotron. But it’s lacking.. why would you’d get this and not a metal square which has 200m and has more features??? Come on Casio. Don’t walk seiko path, you can do better!!
Maybe $200
$500!?
$50 Watch for $500, Casio is ripping off hardcore. First was MRG B5000 of the older GMW B5000 TCM, TVA, TB Ti watches WITH DLC to 4K markup now. This trash is worse. Just get some microbrand Automatic like Traska.
That's a good 150 dollar watch, terrible 500 dollar watch.
