    Found the black plastic actuator that the shifting arm pushes was sliding on the chrome shaft. We superglued it to the shaft and no more problem with it moving out of position 👍

    Can you tell me if the output shaft of this gearbox is 3mm or 5mm? Im planning to pair this with scx10 axles

      I put a piece of wood behind it to stop it flexing back away. Works. Also, roughened the shaft and superglued the black actuator to it because it was sliding out of position.

      @@EdwardChew All right, Edward, I shall do that. I have already visited your Facebook page previously, so I am familiar with it. Thank you. Last night I ordered one of your kits, Bro. The C24 KM.
      I gotta tell ya that your website has some big problems with its ability to find parts in your inventory.
      Bro, I tried several times to use your search thing. Once for the rear axle gaskets and the other was for a winch.
      Your search bar brought back zero results. So, I X out if your app and ask Google found both of the things that was looking for. Hey, can you please try to get those in the same box with my KM and the rest.
      Edward the WPL line of machines are great. I'm looking forward to it arriving.
      Does it come with grease for the axles?
      One more thing, I am very sorry. I also ordered a 24v 60000 RPM, but the invoice says 12v 10000 RPM. Thank you again.

    I have the same motor, same full metal two-speed box, the gears. My question is what is the second speed plus torque for? or more speed or how they are used going up a mountain in the mud is the first gear used or the two? I don't know how to use it I had the one-speed 370 the torque is more powerful but very slow and the metal box is very large and hits the ground or on the edges I will order the metal box completely to see if it looks much better my car is a Land rover defender 1/12 motor 370 two-speed box full metal gears

    I have a weird issue with that particular gear box. When moving forward everything just works fine. But while engaging reverse under load or fast speeds it sounds like it's neither gear is fully engaged. It makes a grinding noise as it is slipping over the gears teeth. What could cause this kind of problem and how to fix it? Thx!

    Hi Edward,
    Thanks or this video. I recently installed my brand new dual speed gearbox and was facing a different shifting issue: The black shifting arm on the metal rod (to be pricise: the one on the outside that is actuated by the servo) is not properly fixed and can move on the rod after a while. This causes skipping in both gears after a moment of driving. Any suggestion how to fix the black arm on the metal rod?

    • @EdwardChew
      @EdwardChew  3 роки тому +5

      Ok pull the black shifting arm out, use a plier or cutter to grip on the shaft to create crease, sand it with rough sandpaper, apply superglue on the metal rod and put the arm back. Let me know if that works ya

    • @RixxxiR
      @RixxxiR 3 роки тому +3

      @@EdwardChew First I reworked the black shifting arm as described at 6:15 of your video. Then I spend a while to figure out the perfect position for it on the shaft and took the measure in relation to the end of the shaft. Then I used a side cutter to create relatively deep grooves in the shaft for more friction. To then glue the black shifting arm to the perfect position on the shaft I used metal epoxy instead of super glue (I had it at home and expect it to be stronger than super glue).
      At today’s test drive the gearbox performed absolutely perfect shifting. It was a real pleasure 😀

    I have this 2speed and it makes some unstable noises. When the truck moves at slow speed it sort of jerks. As if the gears are not of proper size or off alignment. At slow speeds its noticeable where the truck moves fast slow fast slow motion. Am i having trouble with the gears binding?

    • @missionunpossible
      @missionunpossible 3 роки тому

      probably wonky ring gear if it's the full metal ones. if you're lucky you can tap inner shaft bit out using a hammer, scrape out the glue with a knife and press fit them back better with a vice + some glue. it's a bit hit and miss unfortunately. drill press might have more luck. seems to be the achilles heel of the these models. I think the factory needs some proper fixturing to hold the ring gear parts square while they're being pressed @edwardrc car.

    • @EdwardChew
      @EdwardChew  3 роки тому

      @@missionunpossible ring gear you mean the axle one?

    • @missionunpossible
      @missionunpossible 3 роки тому

      @@EdwardChew yes the big one. it's two parts pressed together...a bit wonky most of the time it seems. More expensive/bigger models bolt the ring gear onto the end of a part and that ensures good alignment, eg an SCX10 or something. not enough space inside the little models for that.

      @@EdwardChew I have an MN99 and I've found that very little in the way of upgrades is simply plug and play, there's always some fettling involved somewhere, I had issues with my 2 speed gearbox, but solved them, I also had issues with the steering, but resolved those too, it runs metal axles, i use real driveshaft grease in the diffs, works a treat, it is now great fun to go out with my son with, he also has a MN99, and we're going to get my wife a C24, so she can have some fun too.
