Actually, I kind of like that. Not enough to want to give up the past avatars, but the idea of an earth bender teaching Korra to air bend is really amusing to me.
She can actually connect with previous avatars by talking to Rava. Rava's with previous avatars right. Maybe Korra just doesn't recognize it yet. And maybe the writer.
Do you know what would be cool, of unalaq actually started a dark avatar cycle, and when he died a new dark avatar was born, one that will have mastery over all 4 elements and may also be trained by the red lotus and wage war against korra while being significantly younger than her!
@@yossefbudagov8748 he probably could have mastered all four elements, but he was only the Dark Avatar for a few hours so he didn’t get a chance to learn new bending styles.
i really hope that the past avatar spirits weren't destroyed. that was the worst thing that i hated about korra. i was hoping that her bending that giant energy beam would somehow form a link back to them. but korra's avatar state is physically weaker now. she's only as strong as herself. roku said that the avatar state is when all of the past lives channel their power through the current avatar's body. so korra's avatar state is like 1000 times weaker because her 1000 other past lives aren't connected with her anymore. that's why i think she should get her past lives back.
Yeah its also infuriating how the past Avatars has lost. It was really hard for me to watch as their spirit gets destroyed by Unalaq. Hopefully in the next New Avatar series its the story about the New Avatar tries to reconnect to his/her past life and has Korra to guide her successor
If I was the avatar all I would do is ask the others questions. Me speaking to the second Avatar “So one day you wake up and you find out that you are the second Avatar. What was that like?” Any questions you would like to ask any avatar?
I would ask Roku "Hey you could enter the avatar state at will and you had a hot gf. So why aang wants to let go of someone he loves to master the avatar state? Does that mean you didn't really care Ta min to be considered as your earthly tether?
It would actually be great. She went through a lot crazy things that the other Avatars didn't have to go through. She's the only avatar that could relate to the advancing world of the new avatar
Personally I hate that they didn’t allow Korra to reconnect to her past lives. The main thing that drives this show is the nostalgia of aang and severing the connection permanently is a slap in the face to all the fans. Had the journey after been to reconnect and succeed in the third season then it would have been ok but removing this integral part of the avatar almost ruins the show and story.
I’d prefer if the next avatar reestablished the connection. You could think of korra losing the past avatars as her greatest shortcoming and the next avatar would need to fix that
I think if not Korra, then the next avatar might be tho one to reconnect with previous lives. The next avatar might ask Korra for some advise but Korra can only give so much. So in order to understand how the present exists, the next avatar must first learn how it went to what it is today and by doing that, they need to reconnect to their previous lives and ask how they did it.
Recent Cannon information told that the next Avatar after Korra wouldn't be able to reconnect with their past lives either including with Korra herself so I think by destroying Raava all the previous Avatar Spirits were destroyed forever. This is very annoying because fans thought at least the next Avatar would be able to reconnect with Korra if not all of them...
I think Korras past lives can still offer much wisdom and insight even they their advice would be coming from an unknowing place. Some of the avatars Aang spoke to on the lion turtle necessary didn’t know he would refuse to kill Ozai, but yet their wisdom helped him make his choice.
Im not quite sure you can use the fact that Avatar Aang helped tenzin in the fog of lost souls, because if you watch the sequence of events Aang is seen helping tenzin before unalaq destoryed Raava.
I mean even if aang managed to reconnect with roku and his past self in the comics korra on the other hand got separated from rava and rava got destroyed so rava got basically rebooted
In a way it's amazing to see how the destroyed millennia of history in mere seconds ... I mean they literally wiped out the few traces of was left roku and the other avatar existence
They kind of don't have a choice, it's not up to the creators of the show if it gets another season, it's up to executives at Nickelodeon. Korra was actually only supposed to be 1 season, which is why season 1 flowed so well, but immediately after season 1 Nick asked for 2 more seasons (3 seasons in total to mirror the original Avatar series), canceled the show in the middle of season 2, then asked for 2 more seasons after season 2 ended (4 seasons in total instead of the initial 3). In season 2 the writers wanted to try something new, as they didn't want a cut and paste from season 1, but they were under a LOT of stress as Nickolodeon forced them to change animation studios mid season meaning they had to put their focus more so on making sure the animation was consistent with itself and the previous team and less so on the actual story. This resulted in season 2 often being regarded as the worst Korra season because of the horrible animation and bad storytelling. After the show ended the writers saw that despite all the troubles they went through while working with Nickolodeon and not producing the quality work they wanted to provide to fans, there was still a LARGE fan base who wanted to know much more about Korra and what happened after she left the spirit portals open. The comics (and books) are VERY well written (at least in my opinion) and address a lot of lore fans were wondering about from both series. The first comic is a bit rough and inconsistent in its art, but the issue is quickly fixed in comics that were released later on.
@@vetarlittorf1807 umm no they didnt in the comics korra and asami are together and there is still more in the comics and it didntt cover "korrasami" in the show so yeah
Yes she should try to reconnect. Just because someone gives you advice it doesn't mean you have to follow it, so all you'd be doing at that point is throwing away a source of information. It never really hurts to get a second opinion for general life advice, even if its out dated. Plus it'll provide a new perspective to ponder over, and perhaps lead to a new solution that they would have never considered if it wasn't for the "bad" advice from their past lives.
I feel that she should regain her past lives because even though the world is modernizing the principles and moral advice of the past Avatars are still relevant to her and the future avatars. Plus their wisdom of the elements and avatar state are so important. That's my 5 cents.
Its not just about losing the connection to her past lives for advice; In the avatar state you are at your most powerful , the glow is the combination of all your past lives focusing their energy to your body, so...... She would be stronger if she restores the connection
well, Wan by himself with Rava was already pretty powerful, and for him the avatar state was just a raw powerboost, yet it was enough to beat Vatu which had WAY more power than Rava at that point.
I am happy that he tries to find sulotions for the past lives. Because otherwise it looks likes their more going away from ATLA and forgetting the series
@@sadsader100yearsago9ATLA is for kids but Kyoshi isn't. And also i want a spin-off series about her story and Yangchen as well for teen/older audience that would be great

Or at least I hoped Korra could record the past lives story in a book or something before accidently severing them. tbh suddenly loosing them feels like loosing your entire un-backed up handphone memory :')
I like this video because I have been thinking the same thing. Each avatar has there own spirit but raava links them all together. Just like Korra found iroh in the spirit world she can also find the other avatars
People always forget that, especially Roku himself. His advice to Aang pre finale is so odd because Roku *was* decisive. He said stop or be killed. That sounds like a decision to me. And he kept that decision because, again, Sozin didnt do anything until after Roku was gone. He's just still feeling so guilty for the Air Genocide when there was no way he could have known the results of his decisions. Hindsight is 20/20 and it is not forgiving.
@@mugginsttp1396 I think deep down, Roku had thought about simply killing him (he did have Kyoshi as his previous Avatar and she was an assassin and killed many before); but instead chose a way to delay that decision by simply saying stop or be killed. That way; so long as HE didn't find out about Sozin plans; he would not have to kill him.
In the Legend of Korra book she says herself that the next Avatar they won't be able to talk her, so she writes her journeys, what she learned from previous Avatars before she lost her connection, and general advice for the next Avatar
If she doesn’t link back with the old avatars her avatar state would be powerless since the avatar state is all the past avatars powers combined and if there are no links with the old avatar it would have no power
@@remz2k like I said the whole point of having a connection to the past lives is to get guidance. Tell me about one time where an avatar went to their past lives for anything besides guidance
After Harmonic Conversance as we all know the airbenders are nomads and nomads travel so during the invasion all airbenders might not have been killed. They would've been in the earth kingdom. Maybe after harmonic conversance the descendants of those airbenders who survived got the ability to bend air from the energy released from it.
I feel like although the advise might be “outdated” the avatar of all people should have that connection to their pst lives. If you don’t know your history you are doomed to repeat it. Who’s to say that if Korra or the next avatar doesn’t work to restore these connections that another 100 year war wouldn’t break out or another issues that could potentially affect the balance between the physical and spiritual worlds. Long story short I think that connection the avatar has to past lives, although it has the potential to give outdated and possibly useless advice, it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!! Also Aang thinking Roku’s advice was out dated and unhelpful makes complete since! THEY WERE 112+ YEARS APART 😂😅😅😅
When Aang was asked by the air avatar, "what did you learn" Aangs answer is correct. Meaning, he learns. The past avatar's role is to give advice, not to give orders so the present avatar can decide which is best.
Look really sad when I figured out like the avatars were disintegrated but I'm happy that she just lost connection so the spirits are still alive I mean imagine losing angle we all love a Ang imagine
Many of their past failings were often moral judgements or mistakes relating to personal attachments. There's also matters of historical significance that can be important to carry forward. The idea of that the wisdom of the past has a diminishing place in a changing, modern world, carries a mountain of hubris in it and to many people's point be best tackled by an Avatar of Earth. People in our day and age need to learn that technology doesn't change what it means to be human. So yes, the connection should be restored, but probably won't be by Korra.
It’s also stupid to remove one of the most compelling and important eastern cultural influences/elements - the idea of reincarnation. And also communicating with your past predecessors in spirit form, which is like communicating with ancestors in ancient Asian myth, even if they’re not really her “ancestors.”
it was not just the connection to the past avatars for advice, her avatar state was very weak after season 2. since the talents and bending skill of he past lives was not a part of the avatar state. that entire part of the connection was the way aang was able to water bend in the second episode, and earth bend in the first episode of the second season.
I'm so glad that Korra is now on Netflix and people actually watch it instead of jumping on the hate train. This show is nowhere near perfect but a good show nontheless. People are finally starting to appreciate it more
Exactly her chakra is just blocked just like how Aang’s was until Ozai put his back on that rock. I think her chakra is mentally and emotionally she can still connect to them I know it they should just do it in the comics. She never had time to really be in the spirit world and try to reconnect with them it was always something happening i think she’s gonna get them back because she doesn’t know Tokuga is in the spirit world after the turf wars ending so he might be the key and help her because he’s a deadly threat. Hopefully but then again we need to see her without the past lives and see how much power her and Raava had together she’s literally another Wan. Aang always wanted the spirits and humans to live and guess what Korra did so i feel like he would’ve helped because she’s fixing his mistakes. I can see her getting her past lives back Frfr but Nickelodeon not messing with the creators and the creators don’t mess with them which is sad.
Like I've been saying for the longest, Korra's story is not over and they need to expand on it. She is supposed to be the best avatar and I know there are countless amazing stories to tell about Korra's life and how she changed the avatar universe.
@@elifkabak9261 people say avatar kyoshi is the best avatar because we basically know her story. We don’t know all of Korra’s story and what she’s going to do for the avatar world as she gets older. We don’t know who is the best avatar yet because we don’t know all of korra’s story.
nah she needs to keep the link. i get depressed every time i think of this no matter how much i rewatch the series. one of the things that made aang so great was bc of his connection to them and the guidance they provided.
When tenzin saw aang in the spirit world aang still existing since unalaq hadn't fused with vattu yet, it was later that they did that and destroyed the light spirit...
I really hope they give that swamp tree a use, like Korra (or the next avatar) connecting with the tree and somehow restore their connections with past avatars. The tree is connected to the whole world
In short, she can't Because all of past avatars' "spirits" were just Korra's memories to all of her past lives When an avatar dies, the memories and personality would be stored inside Raava Then the avatar would go on to his/her next life, forgetting everything Once Korra's link to Raava were severed, the memories were lost
and with every avatar she learns a new technique, First is Aang and she learns more of a spiritual lesson that a bending one, then Roku, and maybe she learns fire healing, then Kyoshi and Korea gets lava bending, then Tonraq and this should be another spiritual lesson, teaching her to be relax into her role as avatar !
I would love the next Avatar series being about a new Earthbending Avatar who want to learn all their is which includes reconnecting to their past lives and discovering new sub bending arts they would be a lot like Toph except more brainy and intense They could be the ones to discover Wood bending, Gas bending and more, they would effectively be the first Avatar to learn all the sub bending techniques and such which would however put into question their morality as they wish to learn all there is to know about bending including the forbidden arts like Bloodbending, Bonebending and the bending of air in a humans body that would be a interesting series (But yeah I believe that reconnecting would be great you don’t have to take the advise from your past life but the advise is still helpful)
the avatar state won't be as strong as it was because the avatar state had the experience of past avatars. when they destroyed raava the experience was lost. raava was reincarnated. shes a new raava meaning there's no past experience.
it is very important for past avatars to come back because i can tell that korra would be the worst instructor if the next avatar asks her something she would be like i don't know
she will never reconnect with the past avatars, the whole point of that consequence was to show how Korra and the show itself is moving forward and doesn’t need to rely on the past to make a better future. If she got that ability back, it’d jus take away the weight from season 2
Guys I have a theory on how Korra could possibly reconnect with the past avatar. So I think that Korra will need to find the hidden lion turtle that gave Aang spirit bending and then Korra would later on use such spirit bending to bend her past lives back into her or she could use her spirit bending to make a whole new avatar connection with past lives. Ps : like this comment so CBR can pin this or heart it so more people can see
Anybody noticed that whenever the avatar is in a particular "nation" (water, earth, fire, air) if they are let's say a water tribe girl avatar (like korra) go back to whenever the last time there was a recent water tribe avatar it's the opposite gender
I want the next avatar show to play in the 80s or 90 setting, so we get some action like Nonbenders with firearms, and how bending evolves to this point, like Police beeing able to stop bullets midair and stuff. As for technology and sports, what other bending sports are there and how did technology evolve?

Do you know what would be cool, of unalaq actually started a dark avatar cycle, and when he died a new dark avatar was born, one that will have mastery over all 4 elements and may also be trained by the red lotus and wage war against korra while being significantly younger than her!
technically not all 4 and the cycle broke as he died in the avatar state. Was a good potential plot though creating a full fledged archnemesis
Unalaq was only a waterbender so if he would have started a new dark Avatar cycle they all had been waterbenders
I would'nt say all 4 elements probaly would just have mastery over the element they were born into + a dark avatar state that amplifies that.
@@alphabryan4703 still potentially powerful as even avatars seemed to be bested by single element wielders
@@yossefbudagov8748 he probably could have mastered all four elements, but he was only the Dark Avatar for a few hours so he didn’t get a chance to learn new bending styles.
i really hope that the past avatar spirits weren't destroyed. that was the worst thing that i hated about korra. i was hoping that her bending that giant energy beam would somehow form a link back to them.
but korra's avatar state is physically weaker now. she's only as strong as herself. roku said that the avatar state is when all of the past lives channel their power through the current avatar's body. so korra's avatar state is like 1000 times weaker because her 1000 other past lives aren't connected with her anymore. that's why i think she should get her past lives back.
yep but also a reason why they are probably still there.
Same. It was something that irked me to the extreme and soured my opinion of the show. a lot.
Same it triggered me when all the past avatars disappear i hate this series
Yeah its also infuriating how the past Avatars has lost. It was really hard for me to watch as their spirit gets destroyed by Unalaq. Hopefully in the next New Avatar series its the story about the New Avatar tries to reconnect to his/her past life and has Korra to guide her successor
If I was the avatar all I would do is ask the others questions.
Me speaking to the second Avatar “So one day you wake up and you find out that you are the second Avatar. What was that like?”
Any questions you would like to ask any avatar?
I would ask Roku "Hey you could enter the avatar state at will and you had a hot gf. So why aang wants to let go of someone he loves to master the avatar state?
Does that mean you didn't really care Ta min to be considered as your earthly tether?
I would tell Korra she was the worst avatar ever
I would like to having conversation with Kyoshi all the day because she is like an interesting teacher and a guide to me
Imagine being the next avatar and all you have is korra
It would actually be great. She went through a lot crazy things that the other Avatars didn't have to go through. She's the only avatar that could relate to the advancing world of the new avatar
Personally I hate that they didn’t allow Korra to reconnect to her past lives. The main thing that drives this show is the nostalgia of aang and severing the connection permanently is a slap in the face to all the fans. Had the journey after been to reconnect and succeed in the third season then it would have been ok but removing this integral part of the avatar almost ruins the show and story.
I’m so happy how a lot of videos on this show connects it with other lore of this world, showing how this show is so great
Thank you for this EPIC vid.
@Darth Laghima She said she's not sure? Because if she is then it's a way for the writers to confirm it.
@Darth Laghima oh ok so there's still hope
that info is form a non-cannon book. the next avatar will/can talk to Korra.
I think Korras past lives can still offer much wisdom and insight even they their advice would be coming from an unknowing place. Some of the avatars Aang spoke to on the lion turtle necessary didn’t know he would refuse to kill Ozai, but yet their wisdom helped him make his choice.
Exactly, it’s not the fact that they can’t help but their wisdom and power would definitely help.
Im not quite sure you can use the fact that Avatar Aang helped tenzin in the fog of lost souls, because if you watch the sequence of events Aang is seen helping tenzin before unalaq destoryed Raava.
Zuko's Sister In Heaven: YO I WAS SO CLOSE TO ENDINF DA AVATAR
I mean even if aang managed to reconnect with roku and his past self in the comics korra on the other hand got separated from rava and rava got destroyed so rava got basically rebooted
Yep
Korra restated the cycle
That's because Aang's connection was merely disrupted, not severed.
@@vetarlittorf1807 you have a good point
In a way it's amazing to see how the destroyed millennia of history in mere seconds ... I mean they literally wiped out the few traces of was left roku and the other avatar existence
What if Korra was taken as a child from the red lotus

I’m like, ugh soo much work to get a whole new batch of avatars. But I hope the old avatars can come back in connections.
Korra should at least try to reconnect to Aang imo
Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, and Kuruk are the only ones that matter
I wish they would finish the story in the show, not in comics. Not everyone has access to the comics to finish the story.
exactly.
Umm...they DID finish the story in the show.
@@vetarlittorf1807 umm no they didnt in the comics korra and asami are together and there is still more in the comics and it didntt cover "korrasami" in the show so yeah
@@vetarlittorf1807 no they didn't.
Dude yes. This is how they spend making a new season 5 and bring those lost fans back
I feel that she should regain her past lives because even though the world is modernizing the principles and moral advice of the past Avatars are still relevant to her and the future avatars. Plus their wisdom of the elements and avatar state are so important. That's my 5 cents.
I pray & hope the past avatars can come back
Its not just about losing the connection to her past lives for advice; In the avatar state you are at your most powerful , the glow is the combination of all your past lives focusing their energy to your body, so...... She would be stronger if she restores the connection
finally someone says this
well, Wan by himself with Rava was already pretty powerful, and for him the avatar state was just a raw powerboost, yet it was enough to beat Vatu which had WAY more power than Rava at that point.
I’m writing my own avatar story about the reconnection of past avatars, and this supports my idea completely. I’m happy now😂
I am happy that he tries to find sulotions for the past lives. Because otherwise it looks likes their more going away from ATLA and forgetting the series
This was intriguing 🤔🔥💯
we need a kyoshi show based of her books, maybe a bit more mature than the previous two, we don't need a live action atla
The problem is that the Kyoshi novels would have to be rated R. Stabbing in the neck doesn’t look good.
@@sadsader100yearsago9ATLA is for kids but Kyoshi isn't. And also i want a spin-off series about her story and Yangchen as well for teen/older audience that would be great
They also should rebuild the fucking Air Temple that the lava guy destroyed in S.3!
tbh I just feel sad that the connection was lost cuz I still want to feel the hope that Aang was still connected...
5:11 Aang literally met Princess Yue twice and Sokka likely never saw her again.
But Roku wasn’t indecisive at all!!! He told Sozin to stop or be killed. Sozin only continued his plans for conquest after Roku’s death.
@@mugginsttp1396 yeah, if that volcano hadn’t happened the war might not have happened
Do you think the next Avatar could connect with Korra?
In the Legend of Korra book she says herself that the next Avatar they won't be able to talk her, so she writes her journeys, what she learned from previous Avatars before she lost her connection, and general advice for the next Avatar
@@gamzeemakara7964 That scrapbook, Avatar's Chronicle, isn't canon. So no, Korra will be able to talk to her successors.
If she doesn’t link back with the old avatars her avatar state would be powerless since the avatar state is all the past avatars powers combined and if there are no links with the old avatar it would have no power
Knowledge, not power. At least according to ATLA, though not LOK for some reason…

The connection with past avatars also helps when the avatar uses the avatar state cuz all the knowledge of past avatars combines into one.
Earth next in the cycle can't wait this is cartoon, anime, motion picture, whatever needs to continue like Sesame Street and pokemon

Truly love the Family Guy cameo hahah
We need the Avatar series back in actions. And please me, this next avatar can gain the connection to his past avatars.
We want more series where the next avatar successfully reconnected every single past avatar
She needs to go to the air temple's and when she finds the one with all the Avatar Statues there is where she will reconnect...
I'd like to the cinnection past avatars to come back but I don't want the next avatar to do it. Korra should do it.
Hi I started watching avatar last september and me and my sister are already watching korra for the third time

@@jacob_696 that was a little bit rude
I love avatar
it was not just the connection to the past avatars for advice, her avatar state was very weak after season 2. since the talents and bending skill of he past lives was not a part of the avatar state. that entire part of the connection was the way aang was able to water bend in the second episode, and earth bend in the first episode of the second season.
there is also the part where aang temporarily destoryed his connection in the comics and restored them later
Except Aang's connection was just disrupted, not destroyed.
I'm so glad that Korra is now on Netflix and people actually watch it instead of jumping on the hate train. This show is nowhere near perfect but a good show nontheless. People are finally starting to appreciate it more
My faith has been restored in h

Makes me think can a previous avatar forcefully possess the current user
It wasn't her connection that got destroyed it was their connections with raava since she was literally destroyed

What if korra could connect with the spirit aang though jinora, ikki, meelo, or rohan given that they are aang's grandchildren.
I really hope they give that swamp tree a use, like Korra (or the next avatar) connecting with the tree and somehow restore their connections with past avatars.
The tree is connected to the whole world
In short, she can't
Because all of past avatars' "spirits" were just Korra's memories to all of her past lives
When an avatar dies, the memories and personality would be stored inside Raava
Then the avatar would go on to his/her next life, forgetting everything
Once Korra's link to Raava were severed, the memories were lost
Thank you for saying it

If aang comes back I wonder if he will know about katara death
Korra should go on a journey in the spirit world and find as many of the avatars and reconnect with them
and with every avatar she learns a new technique, First is Aang and she learns more of a spiritual lesson that a bending one, then Roku, and maybe she learns fire healing, then Kyoshi and Korea gets lava bending, then Tonraq and this should be another spiritual lesson, teaching her to be relax into her role as avatar !
Sooo, how korra can reconnect with the past avatars is to go to the spirit world
Wisdom is always helpful
i wish the moon spirit helped the korra at season 2 that will be more meaningful because they are all related
I would love the next Avatar series being about a new Earthbending Avatar who want to learn all their is which includes reconnecting to their past lives and discovering new sub bending arts they would be a lot like Toph except more brainy and intense
They could be the ones to discover Wood bending, Gas bending and more, they would effectively be the first Avatar to learn all the sub bending techniques and such which would however put into question their morality as they wish to learn all there is to know about bending including the forbidden arts like Bloodbending, Bonebending and the bending of air in a humans body that would be a interesting series
(But yeah I believe that reconnecting would be great you don’t have to take the advise from your past life but the advise is still helpful)
I don't really think korra should get her past lifes back tbh
the avatar state won't be as strong as it was because the avatar state had the experience of past avatars.
