NO....The best way is to replace these parts with Doorman parts. Grease is a temporary fix at best.

Do Dorman come pre-greased? I purchased a steering shaft but was wondering if it’s already greased or should I add some

Dorman quality is awful, had to put in so many warranty claims for failed dorman parts in less than 6 months of installation

Add a grease fitting and it will last a lot longer.

And my 2008 Chevy LS that I bought you from Facebook I replace the steering rack and pinion couple weeks ago and I just did the steering shaft the other day just replace all the parts I've needed to be more safe

Lmao.. grease on the outside of the shaft won’t magically get on the inside of it, you can slide it out as far as it will go, and then climb under the dash to grease the inner shaft up.

Did you charge someone for that?

Just replace it. Otherwise you will have to grease it again in 5k miles

I replaced my intermediate shaft with a dorman replacement. And theres not a clunk in the steering when i accelerate. Ive also replaced the steering bearing... any ideas?

Lower shaft u joint by gearbox tends to clunk as well.

Replace the lower steering column bearing at the same time as the intermediate shaft. The lower shaft doesn't really need to be replaced unless the ujoint is bad. It doesn't usually contribute to the clunk like the other two parts.

@@dante04srt I did that at the same time. It wasn't doing it before I replaced the intermediate shaft(as it was the old clunky design) and bearing.
