You have been promoted to jobless. Get out!
What this movie please?
This whole scene perfectly describes anytime a new manager is hired and they start changing shit without knowing anything...
Every single one of them like clockwork
Especially if they're straight out of college.
Well this is like an demonstration for her that the job she will be doing won't be at all what she thinks it is, it's super stressfull and you will feel like sh!t afterwards. It's not fun and you will deal with xtra hard people who often have a reason to be hard.
Because the company is outsourced and literally goes around US firing people for other companies in the movie. It's called Up In The Air, a good watch. Just saying. It's more like an teaching moment than her trying to be smart, he is making it clear that almost every person will be angry, maybe totally flip out, maybe cry, anything negative can happen and they also won't like that a random face comes into the building firing them just like that out of nowhere.
If something needs to be changed then something is already wrong dumbass
Literally happened at my wife's company and she is now suing for medical discrimination because.....her new manager put in writing that if she writes she doesn't need medical accommodations then she will get a raise.
I hate it when people say "don't take it personal, it's just business". Business is the most personal thing in the world. You're affecting my ability to eat. That's personal...
I completely agree. Work feeds our family, gives meaning to our life- this is as personal as it can get
AND in the US, work is the almost the only resource to get decent health insurance from. What a scam.
Ummm when your lazy ass doesn’t do your job and you get fired YOU affected your ability to eat because you forced the others to get rid of you because your laziness indirectly affected everyone else’s ability to eat. You affected your own ability to eat with your laziness
The reason why they say don’t take it personally is because they are telling you it’s not about you, it’s not your personality, it’s not who you are as a person that caused you to get fired or because they hate you, it’s just business and they need to cut costs
That's exactly why it's not personal. Because they don't care about your individual situation.

My boss got his retired dad to fire me because he could not be a man and do it himself. And like the 45 year old brat he was, he came and slammed the door because his dad firing me was annoying him in the other room. His father was really nice, but he was shaking. The dude was firing me and i was the one feeling sorry for him. By the way, this was during the pandemic and i was almost at the end of my 8 month trial period, so his son had no real reasons to be such an A-hole towards me (and to put his father in that situation for that matter).

to quote Erin brochovich, that's my work, that's my time away from my family, if that's not personal I don't know what is. I hate it when they say it isn't personal. it's personal enough to remove me from what I've called a workplace for years. in many times it's not personal. I was let go from a restaurant chain I was doing work for. my boss sat me down and gave me 2 weeks notice he was laying me off. he explained they were eliminating my position, against his advice. I feel no animosity towards that company for that termination
This is how it should be
Terrible quote. The “personal” is relative to the person, not how you take it. For you it may be personal but it isn’t for them. I’m unsure as to why people fail to understand this basic aspect.
@Bill Anderson I recently was fired from a garbage company I was a mechanic for. I was fired for a petty reason after I accidentally bent a grabber claw and damaged the garage door. I was fired in late 2020, before I was fired, I was working as part of a skeleton crew, coming in early, staying late, putting my blood sweat and tears into keeping their fleet moving. I missed Christmas, birthdays, holidays, dinners, funerals and more in my vain attempt to keep their fleet running. I can't get those days back, I can't get a last meal with my dead grandmother. that is very personal for me. if they had more mechanics, a newer fleet, better equipment, and actually held their drivers liable for damages, id probably have had a lot less of my personal involved
@@cerneysmallengines and, they didn't fire you for personal reasons they fired you because you either damaged company property or, a clients property. It doesn't matter if it's personal to you. If you don't want to be fired for what you consider to be petty reasons start your own business.
You mean you were fired. I don't understand why would you say "I was let go". It's not like you wanted to leave, they made you leave. You were not "let" do anything. Call it as it is.
The man who hired me is no longer at the company and now i can't be fired
You can't be fired by him but by someone else you can be
That's not how that works sir.
@Dances With Comic Books actually it's even worst.
He works at a private company now that does contracting for my company
@lubu523 then he can bring your entire company down. Lol. What kind of work do you do?
“it’s not personal”
it affects me personally. therefore it’s personal.
When people say it's just business, they mean that they have to put the company before your feelings and personal situation. It means that they don't just fire your colleague because they have enough assets to not worry about unemployment and you don't. Which would be a personal (and idiotic) reason to fire someone. It literally means that they don't care about your situation or feelings, because your situation or feelings aren't more important than the tens, hundreds or thousands of other employees it would jeopardise by running a business on emotion.
Wow same as that girl who recorded her firing from cloudflair

I’ve won a wrongful termination suit in a at will state. You just hope to god your in a single party consent state.
It's not that easy.... @@gamergodofjustice and is that state called california? i'm not American so
@@EnderElohim Montana, which I quiet honestly forgot was a state
Which states are not at will employment?
Montana is the only state in the U.S. that is completely not at-will. All other states in the U.S. have some version of at-will employment. In Montana, employers can practice at-will employment during a probationary period only. Other states do have exceptions to at-will employment.
Can you sue for wrongful termination in an at will state?
At-will employment refers to an employer's right to terminate an employee at anytime, without reason. However, an employer does not have the right to fire an employee because of any illegal reasons including discrimination, disability, or retaliation.
What is considered an at will employee?
At-will refers to an employee that is free to leave a job at any time for any or no reason. Furthermore, an employer also has the power to dismiss an employee at any time for any legal reason or for no reason without the risk of legal liability.
Are most jobs at-will employment?
No, not all jobs should be considered at-will employment.
Are at-will employees required to provide a notice period?
No. Just as employers are not required to provide a reason to dismiss at-will employees, employees are not legally required to give a notice period. However, some companies might have company policies that stipulate a notice period.
Which states exercise public policy exemptions regarding at-will employment?
Alabama
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana
Nebraska
New York
Rhode Island
Which states imply contract exemptions in relation to at-will employment?
Delaware.
Florida.
Georgia.
Indiana.
Louisiana.
Massachusetts.
Missouri.
Montana.
North Carolina.
Pennsylvania.
Rhode Island.
Texas.
Virginia.
Which states apply the good faith exemption agreement in at-will employment?
Alabama.
Alaska.
Arizona.
California.
Delaware.
Idaho.
Massachusetts.
Montana.
Nebraska.
Utah.
Wyoming.
Can at-will employees collect unemployment?
Depending on the circumstances and the state, at-will employees may be able to collect unemployment benefits if they are fired. They are eligible for unemployment benefits if they become unemployed through no fault of their own.
If employees decide to quit their jobs, they are unlikely to be eligible for unemployment benefits, although there are some exceptions that may apply.
What is the alternative to at-will employment?
Contract employment is the alternative to at-will employment. A contract can be either written or in some cases, implied. Contracts recognized as being implied can be regarded as legally binding.
Even if there's a written or implied contract, employers can still fire employees if they have a good reason, or just cause, to do so.
What's the difference between at-will and just cause firing?
At-will employment means that both employers and employees have the right to terminate employment at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.
Just cause means that an employer has a good reason to fire a worker. Examples of just cause include poor work performance, criminal activity, violating company rules, and harassment of co-workers.
Can an at-will employee sue for wrongful termination?
There are cases where at-will employees can sue for wrongful termination. They include:
Contracts or agreements, written or implied, replaces at-will employment.
Breaches of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, for example, when an employee is fired to prevent them from earning a commission.
Violations of Public Policy, for example, being fired for asking time off work to vote.
Discrimination, for example, if you believe you were fired because of your race, religion, gender.
Retaliation, for example, if you were fired after having filed a sexual harassment charge.
Fraud, for example, if an employer made a fraudulent representation of a just cause.
Defamation, for example, your former employer provided false and malicious references.

This statement is not legal advice. I am passing on what I was told to do by my lawyer years ago and what I've learned. Get everything in writing. Do not communicate professionally with anyone at work via phone or in person. They like to pad files or make up things to get a reason when they want you gone. All "at will" means you're not required to be part of a union to work. Also, the employer doesn't have to tell you their reason, but if you communicate with HR, management, etc. In writing, you can prove whatever they try to say in court or wave you off with is bs. Unless you have physical proof, it's your word versus theirs. We must know the laws because an employer who wishes to do nefarious things like wage theft isn't inclined to explain the rules and your rights to you. You're allowed to discuss wages with others retaliation isn't always based on protected status. Sometimes don't like you doing what you have the right to do and think cause it's not based on a protected class, they can fire "at will" with no consequence. That's false, and I recommend you keep track and physical evidence of everything you work on and complete on behalf of the company, including all evaluations. Presuming you are a generally good employee, if they start to "pad" your file with bad reviews and coachings/write-ups, then you have proof that they were preparing to fire you, and it is likely not due to what they put in the file. Also, only some employers deserve a two-week notice through mutual respect. None will give you a two-week notice when they fire you. A notice's only benefit is for the employer to replace you before your last day. It does not serve the employee in any way. For those that say, " you won't get a job anywhere because your employer will give a bad reference." They risk a lawsuit if they go beyond confirmation of your employment and its start and end date. Anecdotally, most people I'm around don't put actual managers as references. They put people down they know will give them a favorable reference to a potential new employer, such as a friend who will willingly play the part of a "previous employer
Such an underrated movie

“The reasoning isn’t important.”
That’s literally all that matters.
The new manager energy is off the roof with her
Just a movie but true. There’s nothing more personal than cutting off someone’s livelihood suddenly.
No it’s not personal
It’s a business decision
The needs of the business come before your own
If a firing is personal
Then it’s wrong
It should be objective and never a surprise
@@georgesappolon4627 It is the definition of personal. To the business as a whole, it's a business decision, but to the person who needs to find a new way to put food on the table and heat their homes, it's literally the most personal thing that pertains to them outside a bedroom.
@@mrct592 you said the magic words
It’s personal to them
But the decision itself isn’t
We need to stop thinking the world owes us
Look at things from outside yourself and your interest and you will realize it’s really not personal at all
After leaving the military as a senior leader and taking a job as a service manager, I do everything I can to great a good work environment. I’ve quickly learned that 1. People don’t quit jobs they quit shit bosses, and 2 bosses don’t fire people. People fire themselves. I’d never fire a person for the sake of it. They’d have earned it 100%. And if they feel like they didn’t, then we need to do a better job of delivering the message as well as the expectations long before it ever got to that point.
Business is business. Being too understanding isn’t what the company pays you to do. It pays you to manage and look after their interests and best practices. And if an employee constantly violates those, then they voluntarily resign, that isn’t the bosses fault.

"Mr X hired me so only he can fire me." That is some bogus logic.
In this scenario bogus logic is used most. Especially the non Answers and code speak used
She is too gorgeous I cant stop looking at her.
Your glasses are now ready for pickup
Finest acting...... every scene is epic

In Arizona you don't need to say the reason you fired someone and can fire someone for anything expect for race and sexual preference
Doesn't that mean that you in fact can fire them for race and sexual preference?
@@MegaJohny777i got an advice from my american a couple of years ago which was "don't question something in the west if you find it weird, it will save you a lot of headaches"
It did in fact save a lot of headaches.
Unfortunately you can even fire them for race and sexual preference.. so long as you don't actually admit that in writing.
It's america as a whole. Unless you can prove they fired you unfairly because like you said because of race, etc, they'll get away with firing you. It's fucking stupid.
She struggles to play lovable characters believably but this role was perfect for her. She seems to enjoy the power and feel nothing but repressed pleasure from what she’s saying which makes me feel like that’s more who she is in life LOL
You might be projecting a tad
@@speeddemonji9547 maybe more than a tad. Either that or a profound lack of empathy resulting in an inability to understand other people.
If you watch some of her more candid interviews you might have something there. Then again have you ever heard of a small person with even a small amount of real power? Many times when the person who feels overlooked and ignored for their good work get a chance they can be pretty vindictive when they get the reigns of power themselves.
You would think they would have the self-awareness to think this is my chance to show how things should be done. But I think that's probably a pretty rare person.

Must not live in an at-will employment state. There’s no lawsuit for firing for no reason here.
Actually, there are still federal laws that prohibit unjustified termination. Granted, defending your case against a massive company usually doesn't end well.
@@rileywagner5788 negative in states like Virginia you don't need a reason to fire anyone. You can't sue, you can't even ask really. The federal govt has no power of how states govern themselves unless it's certain federal laws
@@justjoshingya504 The fed does have more power than you think with the Supremacy Clause. If they made "at-will" laws clauses in work contracts illegal federally then every business would have to adjust if they intend to file their taxes with the fed as a business.
There's a lawyer on UA-cam who talks about about at will states because alot of people think it that means they can get fired for no reason, he claims most at will states are also right to work states, which means they need a reason, idk myself just regurgitating
@@mrct592 sure they have stuff on the books, but generally a state can do as it wants. Even vote to secede from the union, if the state doesn't enforce the laws then they don't matter
