    It may help the repair to last longer if you put a little rustolum paint onto old and new suspension parts while you have them off or be putting them on. Also a little grease on the bolt threads and the bushings will be of benefit. I live in the rust belt, anything that slow corrosion is of high importants to me.

    I just had the sway bar links replaced, and all the steering linkage components replaced by Moog parts on my ZJ Jeep Grand Cherokee. Handles like new now. Torque Nazi's, ha ha. Thanks for posting this.

    NIce! thanks for posting. I just picked up a 2008 Jeep Patriot N. Edit. (136K miles.) My ride steers pretty straight when hands off the steering wheel on the highway, but when I hit a bump on local roads, I get a klunk. I suspect it's bushings and or sway bar.. I have an impact drill/wrench. Might be able to do this myself. Great description.

      @@DEInTheGarage Would it be helpful to spray those bushing clamp and swaybar link bolts/nuts with a generous amt of Liquid Wrench? Or does that make the bolts/nuts too prone to loosening up over time? Your video is super clear. Easy to see what you're doing...

      @@filmic1 Personally, I use Anti-Sieze for such purposes. Someone much smarter than I once explained how the proper lubrication of the fastens actually increases potential clamping force. I will try to put together a video explaining that, but in the mean time here is the product i use for any bolt which i do not want to rust in place over time..

    I cant get the sway bar bushing bracket bolts out. Afraid ill break the bolts. Where do i torch them?
    Same with sway bar link bolts, one of them is proprietary bolts (the bottom link bolt going through sway bar hole) it's a $20 Mopar bolt that is hard to find with thick shaft and skinny threads.
    Any tips? Im getting a MAP GAS Torch next month.
    I want to change links, sway bar bushings, clean up mounts and bracket and paint them, put in tie rod ends with drag link sleeve and center link sleeve, track bar bushings.
    I have 02 WJ 4.7L

    So my question is since I replaced my struts I did a complete assembly by the way , but my car still handles like shit and isn't firm , you think replacing bushings will help or I should replace both links and bushings ? I don't hear any noise but my ride quality sucks . My car is FWD , I will appreciate the answer

    • @DEInTheGarage
      @DEInTheGarage  5 років тому

      You could have control arm bushing or ball joints which are out

    • @mikexcanxjerk
      @mikexcanxjerk 5 років тому

      D&E In The Garage just replace my whole control bushings both sides , I like last step should be sway bar bushing that will help firm the overall ride ?

    I picked up some end links from Rock Auto for $3.75 each. Part number K3174 . Are they Moog quality? No. Are they better than OEM or Equivalent? Yes.

      @geotoo4117 3 роки тому

      I'm lazy lol will that part number work on my 98 Grand Cherokee? I am dumb Im not much of a jeep person even tho I have owned like 6. I just buy them from the car lot as people trade them in. I gave 535 for this one like 6 years ago. Has 223k but still runs perfect. Besides an o2 sensor that gives me shity gas mileage when the weather is warm. Other than that to work down the highway I average 23 mpg. Nobody believes me until they get in and see 70 mph is about 16-1700 rpm.

    Well, it could be worse.
    I just picked up an already lifted 1999 xj.
    4.5" RC short-arm lift
    Geometry fine, and "beefy"
    She looked so good, I got tunnel vision.
    Then I took her on the highway and had to wrestle with major bump steer
    Survived the ride home, put her on jacks, took a real good look at the suspension, shaking everything, etc
    Come to find something that I obviously...
    PAINFULLY obviously overlooked...
    No swaybar.
    At all.
    I felt so mortal
